On Jobs, Obama is Running from Reality

Today’s extremely troubling jobs report is yet another sad reminder that President Obama’s policies simply are not working—and that we need a president who understands the economy.

Last night on CNN former President Bill Clinton praised Mitt Romney’s “sterling” career in the private sector. This morning Steny Hoyer echoed that sentiment, underscoring the importance of the private sector in growing our economy. While Mitt Romney’s sterling record demonstrates that he knows what it takes to fix our economy, today’s jobs report shows that President Obama’s record is irreparably tarnished.

In short, President Obama has failed to live up to the promise of his candidacy. In 2009, he and his team promised an unemployment rate below 6 percent by 2012. We’re far from it.

And now, President Obama talks about the economy as though he has not been president for the last three years.

“It is absolutely critical,” he said Wednesday, to make sure the economy is “moving full speed ahead.”

Yes, it is. But Obama has spent the last three years holding us back. The president yells, “Forward!” even as he moves backward.

For the weak economy, we can thank Obama’s weak leadership. Instead of pursuing policies that would help job creators put Americans back to work, he’s burdened them with ObamaCare, regulations, and continued threats of higher taxes.

But don’t take my word for it.

Listen to former Congressman Artur Davis, a 2008 Obama National Co-Chair who this week left the Democrat Party: “I have regularly criticized an agenda that would punish businesses and job creators with more taxes just as they are trying to thrive again.”

Not only has President Obama presided over a devastating economy, but he also refuses to hold himself accountable for it. In 2009, however, he was singing a different tune. If he didn’t have the economy fixed “in three years,” he promised, his presidency would be a “one-term proposition.”

It’s been three years, but instead of accepting responsibility, the president casts blame elsewhere—ATMs, earthquakes, airport kiosks, and “bad luck,” among other scapegoats.

In May, he issued Congress a “to-do list,” his latest attempt to distract from his own incomplete task: job creation. And today, the president is in Minnesota to talk about the post-it size list.

While he will go to the trouble of traveling to Minnesota to speak about this political prop, he apparently has not gone to the trouble of looping in members of his own party on Capitol Hill. Democrat Senators Mary Landrieu, Bob Casey, and Carl Levin admitted to Roll Call they don’t even know what’s on it.

If he has not taken the time to inform his friends at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, President Obama must not be too serious about his little list.

No, he’s more concerned about another to-do list: his list of campaign fundraisers. Today, he will attend six of them. He has already attended far more fundraisers for his re-election than his predecessors, 147 in total.

Even as he passes the buck, Obama is happy to rake in the bucks. The promises for his first term ignored, he’s thinking exclusively about a second term.

But unemployed Americans are still worried about the present. As today’s jobs report makes clear, far too many Americans are out of work, without enough work, or giving up on looking for work altogether.

President Obama is working hard to keep his job. It’s just a shame he’s not working as hard to ensure unemployed Americans can find jobs for themselves.

Just like others have said, Artur Davis didn’t leave the Democratic Party. It left him. I suspect more will follow as they realize the differences in liberal and conservatives policies and what that means to their lives and families.

Thank you for continuing to post at redstate.

“I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. The party left me.”

And, to this day, we are all very glad that it did.

It’s important that we draw the lines on this…and make sure people know that the U3 numbers being used are rigged, too.

But I disagree with you that Obama doesn’t care. He does care, but only to the extent that money provides the power he desires.

Most liberals would prefer state managed capitalism to free-market capitalism every day of the week. It gives the state (read government) more power. Even though that may be what they fantasize about, they are realistic enough to know that the private sector is their “honey-hole” where revenues are concerned. It’s how they get “their money”. Money translates into power. So they don’t completely and entirely want to see our private sector “crash and burn”.

Some of those liberals, like Clinton, realize that gutting the private sector too much or too fast for the sake of replacing it with state managed capitalism will be little more than cutting their own throats.

Obama….he’s too fixated on himself and being the “fundamental transformation of America” president to use much of common sense about it.

the federal deficit, his energy policy, his health policy, his foreign policy… His problem is that he doesn’t live in reality. He lives in an alternate reality where socialism works even though in reality it fails every time it has been tried. The good news is most people are starting to realize this at this point. So his chances of reelection are small. Hallelujah!

My pleasure to provide the numbers…and if you appreciated those, you’ll be interested in the confluence of indicators that has rolled up during the past week. Even Obama’s strongest supporters are running for the hills this week.

By the way, agree with you on Clinton. As much as many of us might not like him, he would have acted in support of the private sector LONG before now…not just to save his job, but for the benefit of everyday Americans. Unlike Obama, I believe that Clinton genuinely did care about people. He just had sloppy impulse control (or lack thereof) of his libido.

Barack Obama doesn’t understand how the economy works. Never mind the fact that he’s never had a real job in his life or ever owned a business. His cabinet is filled with liberal demagogues with no understanding of how the economy works either. Therefore, all the advice Obama is getting from his staff is simply compounding Obama’s already clueless understanding of how to get the American economy revving again and the American people working again. Case in point, the abysmal jobs creation number(s) for May and the unemployment rate ticking back up to 8.2%.

It should be noted that Barack Obama is a socialist at heart and in principle. His socialist policies are destroying the economy and Obama’s reaction was to double down and deny the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have immediately created tens of thousands of American jobs and would have helped the United States of America become energy independent. Yet Obama said NO to Keystone! It is quite obvious the ONLY job Barack Obama cares about is his own. Case in point, on June 1, 2012 (today) Obama has “six” fundraisers he’s attending. So the same day the unemployment rate goes up, Obama is only thinking about himself and how much money he can extort from fellow Democrats to help fund his reelection campaign. Narcissism is as narcissism does I reckon. And believe you me, Obama’s number one fan is himself. It’s ALL about Obama and it’s always ONLY been about Obama. Just ask Michele. And if some Americans haven’t realized it by now, oh well.

Many Democrats will overlook even the most serious of Obama’s shortcomings and failures. Obamabots are as Obamabots do I suppose too. I guess they don’t mind if America goes off a fiscal cliff because of Obama’s flagrant spending policies, or that their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be indentured with tremendous burden, trying to pay off Obama’s reckless, wasteful abandon, which is killing the American economy and driving the country off a fiscal cliff and has caused poverty rates to rise to record levels under Obama’s failed presidency. Yet possibly up to 90% of African Americans will overlook it all and vote for O’bummer again in 2012. Hello!! Do African Americans not realize that Obama is dividing the country and that his policies are ruining the economy and weakening America? It’s like Obama has mesmerized them into thinking he’s the great Black hope?? Never mind the fact that Obama is actually “mulatto” i.e. his momma was white, his daddy was black = making Obama neither. And the fact that he hasn’t done ANYTHING for the African American community to speak of. Blacks main reason for voting for Obama is the fact that Obama has dark skin and has promised to give African Americans more hand outs (instead of the “hand up” they actually need). I’m sorry but that’s the truth. But possibly, just possibly, Obama’s endorsement of same sex marriage will finally wake many of them up out of their stupor and they’ll just stay home on election day. Or, wonder of wonders, that they’ll actually vote for a man who does have private sector business experience and previous executive experience and actually knows how to create jobs and turn the economy around and get Americans back to work and the economy thriving once again. It will probably take a miracle for Democrats and African Americans to vote for someone other than Obama. Sad, but true. Miracles still do happen. We’ll see.

And I have no doubt that Obama’s supporters are running for the hills! They aren’t totally stupid, and they know where “the government’s money” really comes from.

I’d say that more than just a few of them aren’t all that thrilled about the fact that Obama is letting power go to his head!

BTW, I do believe that there are some amongst the ranks of liberals who do genuinely care about the people of this country…not many perhaps but they do exist. They just get caught between all the “loyalty to the cause” rhetoric/expectations and to what extent they actually do care.

Shame that more of them aren’t behaving responsibly on that point, isn’t it?

  • APA Guy

We poke fun at moderates within our party…no question about it. But we don’t castigate them unless they are bedfellows with those who are destroying the country i.e. Lugar. If we have modest disagreements, we do what the founders did: We debate the issue, then do what is best for America.

The problem with the modern Democrat leadership is the desire to turn America into the train wreck that is Europe. When people DARE speak out in favor of what made America’s economy great, they are branded “wingnuts” and driven into a ditch.

It is a shame indeed, lineholder…but a shame that will be discarded in a few short months…bank on it.

in the line next to the one with all the *Moderate American Muslims*, in it.

I too, think there are Moderate Progressives out there somewhere.
But not having the guts to say or do something about their {possible} existence or beliefs, isn’t doing them any large favors…….. Plus, gettin’ screamed at a bunch of the time has to make your ears ring a lot. Who needs it?
So they cluck and nod,nod and cluck along with their mates and effectively become Nothing, and No-One. Kinda pitiful, IMHO.

Let’s have a National Mixer, with snacks, entertainment, and everything! Show ‘em We Care……….

If he really wanted to turn things around, wouldn’t he do ONE thing to help struggling Americans, say approve the Keystone pipeline or open up federal lands? He could do many things to stimulate the economy but he chooses not to, by choice.

Fund raising is similar to community organizing in that it’s all he knows how to do. Many would have known that if resumes were a requirement for the highest office.

Keep up your good work and stay the course of not letting him or the MSM dictate the dialogue. Thank you.

All part of The Plan. Once you understand The Plan everything Obama does becomes clear. It’s the same as FDR’s plan shown here: The Plan, The Whole Plan, and Nothing But The Plan

The more unemployment and the more failed private enterprise bankruptcies and the more taxation and the more government spending, the better in Obama’s eyes.

It doesn’t have anything to do with economic ineptitude. It is intentional. He knows exactly what he is doing – collapse the system.

We have to get away from the belief that government or Romney can
create jobs. In doing so we are buying into the Democrats belief system
that the economy is controlled from Washington. The advantage of
Romney’s experience is that he knows what government does that holds
back a business and retards its grown. This is a knowledge that is in short
supply in the Obama administration and that is crucial in getting this economy
back on track. Repeal smothering regulations, eliminate job killing
mandates (ObamaCare) lower corporate taxes, and just treat the business
sector of the economy as our friend rather than the enemy. All this will
promote job growth but in none of it does the government actually
create a job. Tha,t only our free market economy can do.

  • ihateliberals

The economy is right where he wants it. sick but not so sick that he can’t make it look like he is making it better so people will continue to vote for him, His Marxist Socialist agenda is right on Plan A. He is looking at hs second term to finish the job of taking us to a police state and a socialist market so he can redistribute the wealth as he sees fit. People don’t realize that Obamacare is a direct route to Socialism. Hitler used the same concept in Germany in the 1930′s and it worked for him albeit for s short time. If he hadn’t attacked the world he might have won by doing this to every country on a slow infiltration rather than a direct occupation of the conutry.
