America Needs To Stand on Solid Rock After 2012

When you point your finger
‘cuz your plans fell through,
You got three more fingers
Pointing back at you!

(“Solid Rock” – Dire Straits)

Trouble has found our current President Barack Obama. It’s rolling in waves. The number of initial default notices sent to homeowners with delinquent mortgages went up 33% in August. Initial jobless claims went up by 11,000 this last week. More worrying is the fact that they’ve been above 400K for nearly every week, all Summer long, except a brief statistical blip. Oh, and while you’re jobless, the economy has begun to inflate. The CPI went up 0.4% last month, for an annualized rate that rounds up to 5%.

President Obama compounds his problems in several ways. His recent scandal over the loans he gave to a political buddy in The Solyndra Green Company is exploding in his general vicinity. An Office of Management and Budget staff member wrote the following email:

“The optics of a Solyndra default will be bad,” the Office of Management and Budget staff member wrote Jan. 31 in an e-mail to a co-worker. “If Solyndra defaults down the road, the optics will be arguably worse later than they would be today. .?.?. In addition, the timing will likely coincide with the 2012 campaign season heating up.”

(HT: Washington Post)

Optics?! If The "Optics" of This Concern You, Go Design a Beeping Telescope!

Brett Stephens, at Amerika.org, describes the Obama Stimulus with a Biblical Allusion to The Parable of The Talents. Brett argues convincingly that this story applies to the choice of people Barack Obama would give Federal monies to. I accept his point, but also feel safe in assuming without loss of generality that Matthew 25:14-30 applies equally well to the people Barack Obama surrounds himself with.

His servants, henchmen and retainers give and receive nothing except blame. It’s Bill Daley’s fault for not supervising Obama’s “young, free-wheeling staff.” Or maybe it’s Sec. Turbo Geithner’s fault for being as attentive to President Obama’s command directives as he was to the directions inside that TurboTax manual. It’s rather amusing that President Obama expected respectful obedience from a known tax cheat.

Of course, when all else fails, we can blame all our problems on the Jews. Congressman Engel blames Jewish voters for the President’s unpopularity below.

“For a while now, I’ve been hearing from my constituents a lot of dissatisfaction with the statements on Israel that have been coming from the president and the administration,” Rep. Eliot Engel, (D-N.Y.) told the New York Times this week. “He’ll still get a majority of Jewish votes, but I would not be surprised to see that drop 10 to 20 points.”

So Barack Obama doubles down on the fail. He gives speeches that nobody listens to and offers jobs plans that Senators Webb, Landrieu, Carper and Nelson (Ben) from his own party reject. As they say of crooked deals in noir fiction novels: “It can only end in tears.”

So what way takes us forward from this swamp? We need less government, less wire-pulling, less Post-Modern Feudalism. The gentry of the intellectual class, has utterly failed America. We need a Congress, a Senate and a President in The White House who will accept this reality and devolve power down to the states and municipalities.

America will die if we have too many more arrogant King Richard Presidents who point the condescending blame finger at us from their august and urbane throne room. America’s left-wing political monarchy is producing freaks worthy of the incestuous conjugation amongst the Spanish Hapsburgs. No private corporation that intended to stay in business without a government bailout would ever hire Harry Waxman or Van Jones.

We, as GOP Primary voters, can put an end to this corrupt and amoral Ancient Regime. It all depends upon what we demand from our perspective candidates. We no longer want to hear stupidity about Tardasil, or Kurt Cobain lyrics. We must demand their plans to devolve and weaken the American Central Government.

We must demand that America rebuild on the solid bedrock of its decent and hard-working people. In the end, there is no bailing out the terminally stupid. If we allow our nation to have another President Blame-Finger (Dem or GOP) like Barack Obama, than terminally stupid is what Americans truly and genuinely are.

hinterlands of central Maryland (God help me), we are trying our best. One of our local conservative/tea party groups is having a meeting tonight and, supposedly, a major announcement is going to be made as to exactly what constitutional tools we have at our disposal to try and derail the liberal democratic engine that is, and has been, ruining this country. To me, it’s not happening fast enough. There is a sense of urgency that is certainly felt by most conservatives but beyond that, I’m not so sure.

Local governments are a source of great power. Take over seats on town councils and state legislatures. That’s when you gaint he ability to draw their districts and actually help decide what state constitutional powers are at your disposal.

Between now and 2012, work on getting more Tea-Partiers into local positions of power. That’s exactly how Barney Frank relentlessly built up Dem. Party dominance in Mass.

  • Tbone

McConnell and Boehner should be on every Sunday head show saying in no uncertain terms that Barack Obama and his administration are crooks and thieves and that his jobs bill won’t pass because he would just use it for more graft. Then the House should go into full press mode on every bad loan and Fast and Furious and start dragging bureaucrats in and grilling them.

    But will they? NO.

    • Repair_Man_Jack

These guys are like an NFL Defense that fails to ever blitz. Obama would go down like a house of cards if he got 1/10th the snit thrown at him GWB did.

      • acat

We need for Obama to be on the Dem ticket as he’s the weakest they could field. Hillary would do better. Richardson would do better. Anybody-But-Obama would reduce the down-ticket bloodletting.

Occam, however, says Boehner isn’t pulling his punches, rather that Boehner doesn’t know how to throw one…

As the pressure seems to be building in the Democrat Party to replace Obama.
I watched this interview at the Big Government site, and American Spectator’s John fund was being interviewed by Laura Ingram, about NY 9 ( His best line…NY, if you can lose it here, you can lose it anywhere..) but she asked about Obama and fund thinks if current conditions hold, there will be a serious chat with the President about either doing a 180 or getting out of the way.
In another video which escaped..also there at Big Government, Laura had Newt on the phone, and he too considers it a real possibility that Obama may br forced to make a huge turn, which he cannot do without completely alienating his super liberal base, or stepping aside.
He also noted his strategy was to address issues and not become involved in the in-fighting.
After reading Changejarconservative’s comment calling Newt #3 rising, I agree completely.
As of right now, looking at the RCP poll average..
          it is:
          Perry
          Romney
          Palin, Paul, Bachmann
          Gingrich
I am calling Palin, Paul and Bachmann as out and Gingrich as the actual #3 now and ascending.
Watching Newt debate Obama would be worth paying for on cable TV ( If I had TV )

But the brewing problem is the Obama extraction which is gathering steam before my very eyes.
I am thinking of betting on it.
Here is the Fund/Ingram interview from Big Government, 7 minutes worth.

I want Obama to be on the ticket so that when we win 2012, we win not only against him, but also against all the failed liberal policies he supports.

I also don’t think the narcissistic Obama will go quietly or change his policies, regardless of who asks, i.e., his own party. He just cannot comprehend that he isn’t right.

          • Tbone

narcissistic. Further, the Democrats would lose the black vote not just for President but for all downstream offices as well. Adios Senate to a 60+ Repub majority.

Nope, the Dems played their ultimate race card and now they are stuck with him.

Best thing for Newt to do is drop out now, get onboard the Perry Express and become Perry’s Cheney.

          • acat

He didn’t get to be a Statehouse drone voting present without someone having dirt on him.

He will get “reminded” of this dirt and given the choice between retiring ala LBJ or Carter, or …

I don’t go around wearing an aluminum foil hat. Just sayin….
Okay, a few months back I heard Glen Beck (remember him?) saying that Obama was going to drop out, and Hilary was going to run in his place. He went on further to say that her being SOS was a plan to elevate her just enough to look strong and competent (I know, but it is dems we are talking about here). Glen Beck’s contention was that Hilary would swoop in, and win the White House. She could then save Obamacare, Frank-Dodd, and all of the other nightmarish programs and policy’s Obama/Pelosi/Ried created. Lastly, Glen Beck went on the say this was all planned out in advance.
Next, it was Rush that maintained from the start of Obama’s term that a national “crisis” would be used to stall the elections. Crazy? Most likely. However, we have seen an explosion of race riots in the country. Imagine if Obama decides to bow-out of a second term? Being the narcissistic tool that he is, and repeatedly proves himself to be, I do not see an “exit stage left” being an example of Grace, character, and class. He has non of those qualities, in fact, my dog has more of those qualities than Obama….but I digress. Imagine Obama with a huge chip on his shoulder blaming all those that done his presidency in. Now imagine the African-American communities reaction to that.
I highly value the Red State website, and I am humbled and honored to contribute to it. So I ask you fellow Red State(ers); Do I make sense, or do I need to get fitted for an aluminum foil hat?

          • snowshooze

As Tbone says, Obama is a head case. ( I prefer this condensed version of the clinical analysis )
And I know Obama is not Man enough to admit defeat or step aside.
There are other tools to force him out. And I do believe they are working away on it right now. I do not know if they can pull it, but Obama is a string puppet and doesn’t even know it.
( Son, it has been a good run..and we can’t ask much more from you…but here’s what you gotta do for the party now…)
Democrats cannot win with Obama. ( Period )
And I don’t think they are ready to lose, either.
Winning isn’t everything, it is the only thing.

Obama conspiracy tin foil hat crowd is split on weather he would fabricate a crises in order to hold power. Methinks the Party would object. And that Obama would have to clear it through channels who would not accept. ( String puppets are not islands, either ) But let me put the hat on and ponder some more on that..

Glenn Beck? He is on our board of directors.
( I still listen, but he tires me.)
I haven’t heard about race riots..???

          • gwalt

Why did Hillary take SecState? The made a deal. Zero is owed BILLIONS by unions, Soros, Petrobras, and on and on. She was lacking foreign policy— now she has them. Think she will wait another 4 years?
Boy Barry will collect and collect then take the money and do “higher good”. Some people have suggested he wants to head UN—– wouldn’t it be a riot if we kicked the UN out and quit the org? Ha!

          • snowshooze

I think so. After the election rigging…in the Democrat Primary… I think that yes, there is a very broad section of the tin-hatters that believe there was a backroom deal cut here.
And Barry is pulling more under the table than on it.
But we need to head over to infowars for that conversation…
We have to try to keep it clean over here.

Check the front page of Hotair, they’re talking about this.

            Personally, I can’t see it.

          • Tbone

Whitey is right, we can’t cut it, so if you want more free cheese you’ll have to vote for Hillary?

            Ain’t gonna happen.

          • acat

the race card and the “making history” card…

“Whitey hates me. For the good of the country, I have to decline the nomination, and I endorse {name}” …

{name} could be Hillary, but could just as easily be Richardson… as long as it’s not a white-male it will fly *enough* to prevent the down-ticket bloodbath O’s presence on the ticket will bring.

And that’s the real goal, preventing the GOP – with its’ newfound tea-infused conservative backbone – from controlling all three branches with a supermajority….

            Mew

          • Tbone

she would be done. However, with the economy in the tank she would still have a huge obstacle to overcome.

Plus, it would look like the Dems were saying, “OK, the historic first black guy was crap, how about a…….. historic first woman? Anyone, anyone?”

If LBJ couldn’t pass the baton to HH, Obama sure can’t pass it to Billary.

          • acat

The White House is the stretch goal.

Blocking a GOP supermajority is the goal.

Let’s hope 2012 is the antibiotic that our country needs!

He’s headed out the door so it’s not even a political calculation there.

Just pure …. uhhh … let’s stop hitting our head against the wall.

    • RichmondG30

After voting to ram Obamacare down the throats of his fellow Virginians, now he’s against a paltry $447 billion stimulus? This will look like pocket change once the true weight (costs) of socialized medicine come crashing down on the American economy.

Jim Webb’s retirement can’t come soon enough. Good riddance.

  • GT350

I agree with everything in this post, especially this part.

“freaks worthy of the incestuous conjugation amongst the Spanish Hapsburgs”

I have to find a way to fit that line into my daily conversation, it’s poetry.

  • Locked and Loaded

for Hillary to run on a platform to repeal Obamacare.

And with the House being who they are, that may be everybody’s best chance at repealing Obamacare.

    of the recovery.

Obama didn’t create all the problems, but he did his darnedest to make many of them much worse. But even I can’t blame him for half a century of Greece borrowing money they could never repay. Or Spain, or Portugal, or Italy, or Ireland.

Recessions aren’t all bad, because they squeeze out the excesses in the economy and make everything more efficient. Obama’s policies have attempted to interfere with this process. We have no growth, yet we haven’t swallowed the bitter pills yet.

This is going to take a while.
