What a society can and cannot protect speaks volumes about its underlying values. America has increasingly degenerated into a nation that indulgences in over the top, bullying security theatre while proving itself increasingly unable to protect things that are actually important. Congressman Jeff Duncan recently toured an IRS facility and saw agents firing AR-15s. He couldn’t help but wonder what these were for.
“I think Americans raise eyebrows when you tell them that IRS agents are training with a type of weapon that has stand-off capability. It’s not like they’re carrying a sidearm and they knock on someone’s door and say, ‘You’re evading your taxes,’” Duncan said
UVA student Elizabeth Daly will think twice about ever reaching for the cookie dough and bottled water at Harris-Teeter in Charlottesville, VA. It seems the crack para-military agents of the VA Alcoholic Beverage Control Gestapo were concerned that somehow that bottled water was more than just bottled water.
A group of state Alcoholic Beverage Control agents clad in plainclothes approached her, suspecting the blue carton of LaCroix sparkling water to be a 12-pack of beer. Police say one of the agents jumped on the hood of her car. She says one drew a gun. Unsure of who they were, Daly tried to flee the darkened parking lot. “They were showing unidentifiable badges after they approached us, but we became frightened, as they were not in anything close to a uniform,” she recalled Thursday in a written account of the April 11 incident.
When 95 Year-Old WW II Veteran John Wrana refused medical attention it became a security issue. The Park Forest Police were called in and he was given all the attention he would ever need.
The old man, described by a family member as “wobbly” on his feet, had refused medical attention. The paramedics were called. They brought in the Park Forest police. First they tased him, but that didn’t work. So they fired a shotgun, hitting him in the stomach with a bean-bag round. Wrana was struck with such force that he bled to death internally, according to the Cook County medical examiner. “The Japanese military couldn’t get him at the age he was touchable, in a uniform in the war. It took 70 years later for the Park Forest police to do the job,” Wrana’s family attorney, Nicholas Grapsas, a former prosecutor, said in an interview with me Thursday.
When it comes to terrorizing individual citizens who get too uppity, we’ve got that one covered. Seal Team 6 can take some well-earned leave. We’ve got the 20 Year Old College students and the 95 Year Old War Vets covered with the Swat Team. How about more pressing issues? Can we protect our nation’s borders?
Not according to the video below shot by Brandon Darby. This is what “virtual security” currently looks like.
Well, DHS is trying really hard. They are buying up land all along the border to build Sen. McCain’s “Expletive-deleted wall.” Nobody is exempt from making a proper patriotic sacrifice and getting this done. Oh, wait, there’s a golf course. It’s a pleasure to live in and serve a country that’s got its priorities straight.
And since we don’t seem bothered protecting our own national borders from illegal entry; why would we bother protecting your data once it gets uploaded under the auspices of ObamaCare? Guess what? They can’t yet!
The federal government is months behind in testing data security for the main pillar of Obamacare: allowing Americans to buy health insurance on state exchanges due to open by October 1. The missed deadlines have pushed the government’s decision on whether information technology security is up to snuff to exactly one day before that crucial date, the Department of Health and Human Services’ inspector general said in a report.
I’m sure if my data ever gets stolen from an ObamaCare HIX the VA ABC Enforcement Corps will be sending out The Mutant Ninja Turtles to harass the perpetrators into submission. They’ve got the IRS training on AR-15s to enforce a Healthcare Law that their own agency wants no part in having to live under. That’s a fitting and perfect symbol of what the American Republic is degenerating into on a daily basis.
We once were a Democratic Republic that believed in individual liberty. We are now increasingly a paranoid Orwell State that selectively over-enforces laws in a despotic manner based upon aristocratic whim rather than any consideration of the commonweal of our citizenry. It’s not entirely happenstance that protestors of government snooping and eavesdropping defect from the United States to Russia in the 21st Century.
