Boy, that Donald Trump is going to fix those foreigners. He intends to build a huge wall. He’ll make the Mexicans pay for it. He’ll keep them all out and make America All-American again. Except for the ones he wants to hire cheaply at his fabulous Mar-A-Lago estates. Donald Trump has been a major user of visa programs to bring in foreign workers rather than hiring Americans. CBS Miami tells us the fulsome and scurvy details.
Every year since at least 2008, Mar-A-Lago has requested anywhere from 70 to 90 visas to bring foreign workers into the country as cooks, waiters and housekeepers…..A Reuters’ investigation in August found Trump-related businesses have requested more than 1,100 visa workers including workers to till his vineyard and 250 models for his modeling agency.
In fairness, Trump is not the only GOP candidate to have facilitated this deliberate and malicious replacement of Americans with foreign workers who are more easily underpaid, threatened and dominated. [mc_name name='Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)' chamber='senate' mcid='C001098' ] favors tripling the number of H1B-Visa applicants to replace scientific and technical workers such as IT Technicians at US companies. It was a senatorial aide to [mc_name name='Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)' chamber='senate' mcid='R000595' ] who most openly explained what these visa programs really existed to accomplish. There are no legitimate protectors of the American republic on the issue of immigration.
This was originally what launched Donald Trump’s ascension. Not just the issue of immigration but the more broad and overarching issue of nationalism. His slogan “Make America Great Again” made perfect sense to the average person who felt that the best and brightest in America no longer bore any consideration of the commonweal in their calculations. THE DONALD™ showed an exceptional marketing savvy in grasping this issue, reducing it to a memorable line and then using the immigration problem as a vehicle to expound on it. It worked so well that it shoved Rick Perry and Scott Walker out of the race.
Rick Perry and Scott Walker were better men and greater Americans than Donald Trump will ever hope to be. It enrages me to learn that Donald Trump is a base hypocrite on the very issue which allowed him to gain early dominance in his race to be president. It’s almost like he was running for office on Hope and Change™ or something. And we all saw how well that worked out.
