A Message of Appreciation

Today, we lost a close vote. The press is reporting that the final vote in the Senate Republican Vice Chair race was 25-22.

I sincerely appreciate the grassroots support from people who understand that Washington is broken – and the conservative community is high on that list. Without your strong and clear voice, the vote today would not have been as close as it was. The message you are sending about the need to rein in spending, to repeal Obamacare, to prevent excessive regulation, and to take advantage of America’s own energy resources, is beginning to get through. Your work is important and it is appreciated; please keep it up.

Notwithstanding the Senate vote, we need to be focused on the election ahead. In 2012, the American people will have a clear choice between two competing visions. Republican candidates for the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the White House, should commit to drawing a clear contrast.

President Obama’s agenda has failed. The American people know that we cannot spend our way into prosperity. Instead, we need to make the tax code simpler, flatter, and fairer. We must repeal Obamacare, reduce spending, and cut harmful federal regulations.

As long as I serve in the Senate, I will do all that I can to fix our problems and strengthen America. The American people deserve a clear choice in 2012. Let’s give it to them.

Ron Johnson

Thank you for running. We need responsible grassroots conservatives in Senate leadership, we are working to send back up next year.

We need your voice, and appreciate your efforts.
At least the vote was pretty close. Next time for sure!

Because in 2012, there will be several more “R” Senators, and most of them will be conservatives. That means, when the vote is taken for leadership in 2013, the vote will reflect a more conservative bent in the caucus. Which bodes very well for Sen Johnson.

  • lineholder

I appreciate your taking the time to do this. It’s always good to know on our end of the process that our efforts aren’t vain.

Love the comparison chart you put up, BTW. That’s where our primary focus needs to be to get this country back on the right track.

  • izoneguy

For being a clear conservative voice in the Senate. We will work hard to send reinforcements your way.

  • lastgopinillinois

And I want to include a special thank you to Teri Newman for congress 112th and her supporters for the efforts they took to influence Senator Mark Kirk to vote for you.
We will keep fighting and I hope you have a better chance next time. thank you for your service.

I believe our Nation lost a battle today, and I believe Senator McConnell is deluded and weak. It is clear that the current leadership is more interested in playing games with our money, time, and future than it is interested in rolling back any of the causes leading us to our pending fiscal train wreck. Our country has big problems, and it stinks out loud to have leadership turn their back on making the bold statements, taking the right actions, and maintaining the steady vision which troubled times require.

I am proud to be served by a one who is not a politician but a Statesman, and echo izoneguy’s comment above. All citizens, whether conservative or otherwise are well-served by honorable men like you, and I pray we find more like you seated after the coming election.

May G-d Bless You, Ron. Thank you for serving our proud state, and my very best wishes for you as well as your family.

We have to elect conservative reps, senators and a president, Unfortunately I live in MA and that is not going to start here. They elect liberal progressives and/or RINOs.
Please do me a favor and talk to Scott Brown from my state, he has a tough race next year but I will not support him unless he stops being a “Scott Brown” republican that votes with the dems more than the republicans. He has to stay away from the MA delegation.
I am sorry that you lost, we need to rid DC of the establishment that is too comfortable and do what they want and ignore us.
You have comfort in the fact that you came so close with McConnelll changing the date, on purpose. I think he has to go too. I do not care if they have an R with their name, it depends on how they vote.

is there a record of the final vote tally? Going on the record is SO very Beneficial when there is work to be done. A link, anyone?

” Waste not, Want not” is a truism for a reason, correct? Wouldn’t want to waste my Time and Dinero on last year’s model.

Do nothing Senate still fails to pass Budget, so it’s Continuing Resolution time again!

Here we go again. The Democrat controlled Senate forces yet another Continuing Resolution (CR) discussion and threats of a Government Shutdown! Which again brings up all those questions of Base-line Budgeting and conveniently forgetting those Debt Ceiling “compromise” promises to cut, um, “reduce,” spending by anything and ram through more, and more, and more Government largess.

We have been here before and as long as Democrats control either portion of the Congress we will be here again. So, I urge you to demand the passage of the following (at least through the House, put pressure back on Senate Democrats and Liberals in general)…

from STOP TALKING, START LEGISLATING! (“Contrast for America”):

    Essential Government Services Act
This Bill MUST be designed/developed and passed BEFORE the next Budget, Debt Ceiling, etc… crisis comes along to REMOVE any Demoncrat demagogy of the issues of what Government Services and Processes/Procedures remain in effect should (yeah right, when an eventual) GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN occur. No longer can the Democrats claim troops wouldn’t be paid, because payment to them would be assured under the Act. No longer would they claim Seniors wouldn’t get Social Security checks, because those being cut/sent would also be assured. Grossly reduced (say, 10% funding levels) to most Departments would be allowed to keep the Building lights on and Security Personnel to Guard them while their Staffs’ would be furloughed! What else would/should be defined in such an Act?!?!

Sen Ron Johnson, Wisconsin is proud of you for almost defeating a senior Senator for Caucus leadership. 25-22 is too close for comfort for the old guard. Ron Johnson is on a roll!

That graohic chart says it all–let us be pro growth through tax and regulatory reform. And let us develop enery resources we have. Energy will solve most jobs problems now.

Energy is the most important economic issue for free market conservatives 2012 imo.

…in reaction to the reaction to what transpired:

“Feel Reassured that Johnson…a Freshman in Congress…received 22 votes; project the outcome of a future leadership vote in but one short year, when the person who is perceived as next-in-line is provided additional true-conservative support from an enhanced GOP-Senate [majority]!”

Hopefully we can send some strong conservative reinforcements for the next congress.

  • macwell

as may career politicians as possible, in both parties.
Liberals and conservatives have been lied to, stolen from, and been made fools of by the very men and women we send to speak for us.
Why is it someone will spend 100X what the job pays to get into politics.
Why are so many in Congress lawyers?
Did you know that Congress was never meant to be a career.
The founders left us the model, citizen government.
Instead of keeping the model the founders left us, we the people allowed this frankenstein’s monster that is OUR Congress.
These people trade votes like so many baseball cards.
They make the rules WE must follow, and exempt themselves from the very same laws.
    Do I blame them?
No, not totally, they’re just doing what men and women have been doing since the dawn of time, getting the most for the lest.
Next November we the people MUST send a clear message and rid Washington DC of as many career politicians as possible.
Believe me, we’ll love ourselves for it, America will love us for it.

  • expanding_man

In 2012 we’ll be sending you some reinforcements. Keep fighting the good fight and keep the chin up.

  • paladin1

you do and for representing conservatives across the country. We will work hard to send more men like you to the Congress in both houses so that we can finally see honor restored to our individual liberties and to our nation. Thank you for fighting.

  • YnotNOW

is exactly what we need. It is very difficult to turn around the Senate in one (or even two) election cycles, because it is a “continuing body.” but as we elect reinforcements in 2012 (and additional in 2014), the leadership will eventually shift to represent their constituents.
Keep on the pressure until then!

  • http://edgeinducedcohesion.wordpress.com nathanalbright

…we should have enough power to make a shift towards more Conservative leadership, if the ones there in the meantime don’t go wobbly.
