Tom Cotton Explains What Joe Biden Won’t About What a ‘Humanitarian Pause’ Would Mean for Hamas

Imagine being attacked by terrorists who slaughtered over 1,400 civilians in one day and then being told to pull back, allegedly on humanitarian grounds, ostensibly so that no one else gets hurt or loses their life.

That is the position Israel found itself in immediately after Hamas began its reign of terror against the Israeli people on October 7th, with outspoken woke Democrats here in the United States including members of the House Hamas Caucus calling for an "immediate de-escalation and ceasefire," which if followed through would equate to Israel letting Hamas literally get away with murder while continuing its rampage.

Fortunately, Israeli leaders aren't obliged to take marching orders from the Democratic Socialists in The Squad, and they responded accordingly to the attacks and continue to do so, with the understandable goal being to get the hostages safely freed and to eradicate Hamas.

Though Joe Biden has repeatedly been pressured by the Useful Idiots in the Democratic Party on this issue to push for a "ceasefire," he had publicly resisted such calls until Wednesday, when he announced that he had called for a "humanitarian pause" in the region which is, as my colleague Nick Arama explained at the time, is effectively a ceasefire without using the actual word.

As of this writing, Biden and members of his administration are still pushing for it but they are, as one might expect, not having any luck:

Biden on Monday appeared to be rebuffed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their first conversation in eight days, when he repeated in private his public calls for lulls in the fighting to allow civilians to flee Israel's campaign to crush Hamas and for humanitarian aid to flow to hundreds of thousands in need.

“We consider ourselves at the beginning of this conversation, not at the end of it,” said National Security Council spokesman John Kirby when describing Biden's conversation with Netanyahu, "so you can expect that we’re going to continue to advocate for temporary, localized pauses in the fighting.”

Biden’s call followed Blinken’s frantic weekend of travel that took him from Israel to Jordan, the occupied West Bank, Cyprus, Iraq and onto Turkey to build support for the Biden administration’s proposal for the humanitarian initiatives.

While the term "humanitarian pause" might sound like a reasonable request to certain radical leftists, in reality, what it would do would give Hamas more time to strategize, arm up, and commit more atrocities against innocent people, as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) succinctly explained:

Cotton, being a veteran of both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars who signed up to serve in a post-9/11 world, understands full well what instituting a "pause" in action equates to for terrorists. But one doesn't need to be a member of the military to understand the fundamental, unwritten yet understood rule of war that says you don't let up on those with genocidal goals until they've either announced their surrender or are no longer a threat due to decimation/eradication.

One would think that Joe Biden, with his decades in Washington, D.C. and purported "experience" in dealing with world leaders in times of crisis would understand this. In fact, I think he probably does. But his problem is that he wants AOC Inc. to go away and stop with the Hamas apologist rhetoric, so he proposes the "humanitarian pause" to try and appease them.

Biden's best bet would be to ignore The Squad and urge Israel to continue to go full throttle until they take care of the Hamas threat. But he won't, because Biden's bigger concern seems to be the optics here at home among members of his own party, where the divisions over the Israel-Hamas war are widening not just among members of Congress but also among the party faithful.

Real leaders lead while the rest obsess over polls and try to please all people, including those who do not approach resolving the most pressing of issues in good faith. I think we know which camp Joe Biden falls into here, and it's a big reason why neither he nor his cohort Kamala Harris deserve a second term in office.
