#1 - Gavin Newsom Asked the Internet to Submit Designs for a New Coin Honoring CA's Innovations, and Hoo Boy.. — by Jennifer Van Laar

Apparently, Newsom (or the intern who wrote the tweet) didn't understand that the title is surmised to be a slam at Swift's ex-boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn. Vogue reports that Alwyn "once stated in an interview that he had a texting group chat with fellow actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott called the 'Tortured Man Club,' which many fans instantly drew parallels to with Swift’s album name."

The Golden State has a long history of positive innovation, but the only thing it's innovating during Newsom's tenure is new ways to waste every natural gift God can bestow upon a land and leave its citizens in poverty. Oh, and new methods by which the government can repress the civil rights of people.

#2 - WATCH: Sen. Kennedy Ends Climate Witness With Jawdropping Final Line — by Nick Arama

Supran said that these weren't his tweets but they were "retweets."

Kennedy then dropped the hammer, asking if he often retweeted things he didn't support?

Then Supran said he didn't say he didn't support the tweet, he just didn't tweet it.

Whoops. Not exactly a great response when you're left scrambling to differentiate between a tweet and a retweet. When you're retweeting such a group, yes, people are going to be wondering what the heck is going on in your head. That's not going to fly well.

#3 - Biden Loses to the Teleprompter Trying to Spell a Word, and Tells a Whopper About Walmart — by Nick Arama

Biden claimed that Walmart had "opened a new store" and was going to be charging "for all the products they had" the "same exact price that they charged before the pandemic."

Yeah, no, I don't know what he's talking about here. Neither do any of the Walmart folks I spoke to at my local Walmart. What he may mean is that in March the Walmart president and CEO said that some products would be lower than a year ago, but also that some would be higher. I think basically saying that some things would be less than they were at the highest cusp of inflation. He certainly didn't say what Biden said about rolling back prices to pre-pandemic prices, so once again Biden seems to have been spreading a lot of malarkey. He wants credit for some prices coming down not because of him, but no blame for the fact that they went up because of him.

#4 - A Massive Scandal Is Brewing in Los Angeles After DA George Gascon's Number 3 Is Charged With 11 Felonies — by Jennifer Van Laar

LA County Assistant DA Diana Teran, who oversaw George Gascón's efforts to prosecute law enforcement officers instead of criminals and to release thousands of felons from prison early, was arrested Saturday on 11 felony charges related to the "unauthorized use of data from confidential, statutorily-protected peace officer files." Like many alleged felons in Los Angeles County, Teran was out on bail less than an hour after her arrest.

Unlike many alleged felons in Los Angeles County, the Diana Teran scandal has the potential to topple the county's power structure, or to put a severe dent in it.

#5 - WATCH: Iranian MMA Fighter Finds Out After He Kicks Ring Girl in Buttock — by Brittany Sheehan

Earlier this month, an Iranian MMA fighter caused a controversy in Moscow at an event by Hardcore, the Russian equivalent of Bare Knuckles. Ali Heibati appeared on April 19 for his Hard Fighting Championship (HFC) debut bout against Arkady Osipyan of Armenia. But before the match began, Heibati kicked the ring girl, only identified as Maria, in the buttock as she displayed the round card for the audience and cameras.

The woman turned around in clear surprise, expressing her anger before the referee intervened to separate them, warning the fighter about his behavior. The Iranian's bout lasted only 30 seconds before the referee waived it off and stopped it. After Osipyan walked back to his corner, Heibati leaped up and began attacking him from behind, landing multiple cheap shots. This prompted several people to enter the cage to separate the two fighters as they awaited the official decision, where Heibati was defeated by technical knockout.
