Chris Matthews’ ‘The Rise of The New Right’: Deceptions and Delusions

Last night, MSNBC aired a Chris Matthews special, labeled a documentary, called The Rise of the New Right. I decided to take a quick break from my radical right wing extremist acts like bitterly clinging to my guns and my Bible, whilst fiendishly drawing Hitler moustaches on Obama photos, to watch it. I know. Apparently, I’m a glutton for punishment. However, while absolutely infuriating, it was simultaneously hilarious and almost took my mind off the distressing shortage of windmills in this country.

Almost immediately, two things became rather apparent. Firstly,  MSNBC’s NewSpeak definition of “documentary” is evidently “blatant fallacies and pure propaganda”. Secondly, it’s quite clear that Chris Matthews’ leg ‘tingle’ has moved into his brain, or what passes for some semblance of one. Either that, or he’s merely decided to embrace his cuckoo pants. Plus, he’s a big, fat liar. I feel no qualms about saying that, since Matthews spent a full hour demonizing me and people like me as violent, irrational racists. In fact, the entire show could be summed up like this:

Racists. Birthers. Guns! Evil scary militia groups that have the same “Don’t Tread on Me” flag!!! Chanting “USA, USA” and being fond of the Constitution and, you know, liberty is super scary and ominous. Also, racist. And violence fomenting. Plus, racist.

You see, now Community Organizing is evil and dissent is no longer Patriotic. Instead, that now signifies some sort of marauding mob of nefarious radicals who are doubleplusungood. President Obama said “I want you to talk to your friends and neighbors; I want you to argue with them and get in their faces” , but that was okay because George Bush. Or something.

It’s not okay when the right peaceably assembles, voicing opinions articulately, in full and coherent sentences and using facts and rational thought, because we aren’t supposed to even know how to read! Plus, we don’t base things on feel-goody Utopian ideas of kitten whiskers, fairy dust and magical windmills. We sneaky right wing-nuts embrace real world ideas like individual success is a good thing and that people do not need the government to run every aspect of their lives and businesses. Oh, the horror.

It must be horrifying, as the entire show was scored with super spooky music. A video clip of Ronald Reagan? Cue ominous horror movie music! A Sarah Palin segment? Dun dun dunnnn. Matthews, of course, portrayed Sarah Palin as a dum-dum “failed candidate”, yet also somehow ominous and fiendish, accusing her of putting those who voted for Obamacare “in the cross-hairs.” Get it? She’s totally fomenting violence. From her facebook page.

Matthews continued shamelessly lying throughout the entire hour. I’d be hard-pressed to find even one truth and I’d also be hard-pressed to choose which lie was the most egregious. Probably the most constant lie, however, was the theme of “Racists!” It was also the most hypocritical. After spending most of the hour maliciously demonizing and fallaciously broad brush painting millions of people as racists, he then spent a segment demagoguing Glenn Beck — for saying that President Obama may be racist.

The abject lies continued as Matthews claimed Rand Paul is the face of the new right, neglected to mention that it was a Hillary Clinton operatives who started the “birther” movement, cited Media Matters as a credible source refuting “misinformation” from the right, interviewed the incredibly biased and race baiting agenda driven Southern Poverty Law Center as another source, suggested that the “new right” looks to Pat Buchanan for leadership, called Michele Bachmann  a McCarthyite and compared Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck to Father Coughlin. Father Coughlin, who was a notorious radical lefty, an Anti-semite and, you know, insane.

JennQPublic summed it up best when she tweeted “If I was writing a parody of a Chris Matthews special, it would sound just like this Chris Matthews special.” Exactly. It was almost  a self-parody and included every tired, lame, outright false and, frankly, insanely delusional leftist narrative regarding conservatives.

He ended it with more nonsense and breathless depictions of his delusions of a violent right by, with a super serious face,  suggesting that we remember what happens when there is such ugly and violent rhetoric (e.g., “uphold the Constitution!”) coming from the right: Timothy McVeigh.

Oh, really, Chrissy? Perhaps all that kool-aid has rotted your brain. Here’s a reminder of where recent violence has stemmed from:

It was not the fear of conservative violence that caused Ann Coulter’s speech to be cancelled this week.

It was a liberal who bit the finger off a man who disagreed with him on healthcare.

It was Obama-loving Amy Bishop who took a gun to work and murdered co-workers.

Joseph Stack flew his plane into the IRS building after writing an anti-conservative manifesto.

It was liberals who destroyed AM radio towers outside of Seattle.

It’s liberals who burn down Hummer dealerships.

It was progressive SEIU union thugs who beat a black conservative man who spoke his mind.

It’s doubtful that a conservative fired shots into a GOP campaign headquarters.

In fact, Democrats have no monopoly on having their offices vandalized.

Don’t forget it was Obama’s friend Bill Ayers who used terrorism as a tool for political change. SDS is still radical, with arrests in 2007 and the storming of the CATO Institute in July 2008.

Face it, fallacious Mr. Matthews. We aren’t the ones obsessed with the color of one’s skin, we care about content of character. And neither are we violent, no matter how desperately you wish that to be so. We simply love our country and refuse to be useful idiots. Perhaps it will help you if I explain in hip, simple terms for you:

Democrats, we really just aren’t that into you.

I felt exactly the same way watching this yesterday but had to stop after 15 minutes. I’m your “typical white person” and housewife and I am about as far away from being some militia-type radical as you can get.

Even though I turned the TV off after 15 minutes out of disgust, I am quite sure there were no women like me interviewed.

Too bad you had to watch Matthews to write this piece.

athrillofhope Thursday, June 17th at 12:23PM EDT (link)

Great commentary. But too bad it required watching Chris Matthews.

If there is ever an indictment against the current state of journalism in America, it is Chris Matthews. Not that I’ve watched him. I don’t need to. All of his foolishness is posted all over the internet in comments and blogs, including how his leg tingles over The One.

The definition of a racist is someone who makes race front and center–one who filters life racially. This perfectly describes socialist-liberals. Race for racist lib-tards like Matthews is simply a social tool to shut down debate, hide truth, control the issues and political landscape through intimidation of being cast as “racist” and thereby re-engineer an otherwise free society and representational government into a socialist vision against the now marginalized people’s wills.

I would love RS or HE or even RNC to start a fund and get at least one (1) billboard with Matthews face on it and LIAR stamped across the bottom. Or WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICANS?

Can you imagine him trying to defend himself? We’ll get Hannity to do Day 1, Day 2 and so on to show the billboard.

There is another billboard out of Texas that has gone viral. This stuff works.

Come on; if WND can do it on the birther issue, we can do it to attack the media. They attack us, why don’t we fight back with media against the media?

And the leftist congressman who attacked a collage student on the streets of DC. Lets face it Chrissy had to do something after he attacked Obama’s I’m a failed president speech earlier this week. He had to prove to his man the his (Chrissy’s) man love for Obama was still there. Or maybe it was a thank you to Obama for such a bad speech that made the speech he wrote the second worst, remember it was Chrissy the sissy who wrote Jimmy Carter’s malaise speech.

Sixty years this "rise of the New Right" thing has

been going on. It started with Bill Buckley and “God and Man at Yale”. It’s hardly stopped since. Leftists though, have unusual memories, if you can forget your concern with deficits from one year to the next, why not a bitter refrain that goes back six decades.
Is Matthews getting crazier? On the left who isn’t?
Dumb he always was. Meanwhile the dream of a Stalinist state where scores are settled is becoming more problematical for our “progressives”. But hope still blooms.

I watched the whole thing. I haven’t seen the man talk in years. Pure crap, through and through.

There has never been an act of violence committed by a member of a TEA Party assembly so far as I have seen or heard. having been to several meetings myself, I’m hard-pressed to recall a threat against anyone, or the utterance of a single profane word. Chris Matthews lies about the TEA party because he knows that they are going to remove the people from power for whom he currently carries water.

And thank you Ms. Ziganto. I didn’t get the impression at all that Father Coughlin was a lefty (I had never heard of him before this “schlockumentary”). Coughlin’s anti-Semitism was associated with the extreme right without any regard the origin of his bigotry or his agenda. A simple and obvious lie of ommission by Matthews, true to his modus operandi. Easily dismissed with a glance in an encyclopedia.

In fact Coughlin was both anti-capitalist and anti-communist, but was wholeheartedly pro-fascist, seeing it as an effective counter to communism. He was a socialist in deed an thought, being the founder of the National Union for Social Justice. He also advocated the nationalization of the Federal Reserve. Nice how that turned out. He turned on everyone he began with due to economic policies he didn’t agree with, starting with his New Deal buddies, until Roosvelt and the Catholic Church had to supress him on their own.

Matthews’ correlation between the Oklahoma City bombing, and the incident where Branch Davidians set their compound alight rather than be caught by the ATF, upon which they fired, killing four, is shameless to say the least. Democrat appointee Janet Reno ordered that assault by the way. I have never read heard anyone make that claim on either side of the aisle before.

I’m surprised Matthews didn’t lump in Ruby Ridge and Wounded Knee while he was at it.

” I have never read heard anyone make that claim on either side of the aisle before.”

The “claim” being that TEA partiers see any of these events as rallying cries or any other reason for existence.

Matthews gives his inability to comprehend the TEA party movement away. TEA partiers don’t need past events, largely irrelevant to the moment , like radicals do, to justify their actions. The economic and cultural damage that the left is currently causing is justification quite enough.

The reason that Chris Mathews has become a Parody

romeg Thursday, June 17th at 1:07PM EDT (link)

of himself is he thinks that to be as successful as a Glenn Beck, a Sean Hannity or a Rush Limbaugh that he has to be as outrageous as he pretends those three are.

What he fails to recognize is that his views are already outrageous in the extreme and do not reflect the views of about 80% of the nation. He’s mired in that crap hole known as MSNBC along with his kindred spirit Keith Olbermann and no stunt that HE can even imagine, let alone, attempt to pull off, is going to do a single thing to lift their abominable ratings.

He thinks he’s the toast of the town amongst his liberal friends when, in fact, he’s merely toast.

“Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. Pushback by Tea Partiers to Matthews and MSNBC reported in WaPo

I just hope all the anger and outrage will lead the tea partiers to not only get angry but get even — at the polls by becoming Republican Party precinct committeemen and by actually helping to get conservatives to the polls in the remaining primaries and on Nov. 2.

And reading the comments below the linked story, it’s clear tht the WaPo is depending on the far left for its readership. Not a very wide spectrum of opinions. Maybe that’s why it’s in trouble, too.

Liberalism is all about amassing power. They respect raw power above all else. They’re bullies when they have it. They’re pandering little suck-ups when they don’t. Our civility toward them is read as weakness, so they are bold in their attacks, knowing retaliation won’t come in a physical form like it does with al Qaeda. MSNBC will be up for sale surely once GE is done wringing all it’s value -and credibility- dry.

The new owners will just hire all new news staff, and GE will still have all their special Obama deals and bailouts in their pocket.

Unless the panning of Obama’s Oval Office address by Matthews and Olbermann was as significant as it could be… indicating a pivot due to GE management’s assessment that they’re not going to get the carbon-credit bonanza they were counting on… and are out to salvage the smoldering remains of MSNBC’s reputation.

NBC will never divest MSNBC

singingcactus (Diary) Friday, June 18th at 9:31AM EDT (link)

MSNBC itself is not a lucrative business, at least not compared to FOX or even CNN. But the network’s ability to share the news organization staff under the heading ‘NBC News’ keeps costs under control. For the alternative, look at CBS News’ cost struggles without a cable network. Meet the Press and NBC Nightly News and even the Today Show, all cash cows for NBC, benefit from the presense of MSNBC (and CNBC).

GE isn’t going to mess around with anything too much ahead of the Comcast deal, because they have no long-term financial interest. Personally, I think the Olbermann/Matthews’ panning was an attempt by GE and NBC to show that they are not overly biased, because they fear the Comcast FCC sale proceedings will occur in front of a Republican Congress that is hostile to NBC. In that case, it is best for the network not to seem like a PR firm for the leader of the other party.

The special gave Matthews more viewers than he normally gets, about 300,000 more; still well behind Fox, but a considerable jump. More frighteningly, the P25-54, better known as Generation X, nearly doubled its normal rate of viewership and approached Fox’s numbers in the timeslot. With those increased numbers (read increased advertising rates and profits), I would expect to see more of these type of specials in the future.

Let’s hope those increases are from more conservatives tuning in to watch a comedy, rather than people tuning in to see a ‘documentary’.

The Left will never give up. They are committed to winning at all costs to the country. The mere mention that they should or might is wrong…They are in it to the end…the end of America. The lackadaisacal attitude of some of those on the Right is alarming. Bush allowed the Left to make great strides, with the consent of the Republicans in Congress. Where did this get us? Creeping socialism turned into a gallop. Obama and the Democratic Congress has ripped up the Constitution and completely disregard the Rule of Law — a basic foundation of our society. Bribery, extortion, propagandistic lies are all the basic foundatiuon of the Left.
