Cojone-less In Chief Strikes Again. Lockerbie Bomber’s ‘Compassionate’ Release Preferable To Obama

Last year when the Lockerbie terrorist, Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, was released, freed to die with compassion – a luxury that his innocent, murdered victims did not have -  I thought that I was as angry as I could ever be. I must admit that I was wrong. You see, it seems that the inept Obama Administration once again voted present and actively endorsed “compassionate parole” over a prison transfer of al-Megrahi to Libya, as The Australian reports. Also, he’s a huge liar. Again:

THE US government secretly advised Scottish ministers it would be “far preferable” to free the Lockerbie bomber than jail him in Libya.

Correspondence obtained by The Sunday Times reveals the Obama administration considered compassionate release more palatable than locking up Abdel Baset al-Megrahi in a Libyan prison. The intervention, which has angered US relatives of those who died in the attack, was made by Richard LeBaron, deputy head of the US embassy in London, a week before Megrahi was freed in August last year on grounds that he had terminal cancer.

Apparently, the administration opposed transfer to Libya because, as would be obvious to any thinking person, such a transfer would paint Megrahi as a martyr and would result in triumphal celebration. But, really – what difference does that even make? That is supposed to be a valid excuse for endorsing the option of releasing him instead?  Oh, sure, he may have committed an act of terrorism that sent a plane full of innocent people to a fiery, terrifying, painful death, but as long as he totally promises that he won’t par-tay and celebrate – after he is set  free after serving only 11 days per murder -  then, it’s all cool.

Which is exactly what happened, anyway and Scottish and American politicians feigned shock and disbelief when it occurred. Here’s a tip for you:  terrorists generally don’t have any qualms about lying. They are like many politicians that way. Speaking of which, Obama himself lied last week when he made this statement:

The document, acquired by a well-placed US source, threatens to undermine US President Barack Obama’s claim last week that all Americans were “surprised, disappointed and angry” to learn of Megrahi’s release.

He wasn’t surprised, nor was he disappointed. He knew it was coming and thought the “compassionate release” preferable to prison transfer to Libya. Was this more of his “Muslim outreach” plans, which seem to entail only a feel-goody “let’s all be friends” naive and dangerous mindset? Obama does not seem to understand that terrorists (not man-made disaster causers either) cannot be bought off with hugs and cookies. They want to kill us and will continue to want to do so, no matter how infuriatingly and perilously sycophantic you act.  In fact, they are likely laughing right now. And they are treating Al-Megrahi as a hero. Some justice.

I don’t know if it is because President Obama is used to Michelle wearing the hideous pants in the family, but he can’t seem to man up. At all. His lack of ability to make firm decisions, ever, is putting us all in further harm’s way. It is also emboldening terrorists – Good grief, man! I am more of a strategist and a gutsy man than you are and I cry at commercials!

I’ll spell it out for President Obama, even though I’m lacking a super smart Harvard degree: You do not negotiate with terrorists. Nor do you negotiate for their release, regardless of what you insanely deem ‘preferable’. Preferable should not have been an option.

You should have insisted on neither. That is your job, as the leader of the free world and as President of the United States. I suggest you stop with all your fancy pants trips, your constant photo opps, including relaxing rounds of golf, and your ridiculous, worthless “summits” and start creating or saving some damn Leadership.

In part due to your utter incompetence, lack of leadership and failure to do anything but half-heartedly vote present – too busy demonizing those pesky tea partiers, I suppose -  Al-Megrahi, an evil, murderous  terrorist served just over 11 days per murder. He was freed to die in the loving bosom of his family – which, by the way, he seems to be refusing to do and may now live another ten years. His innocent victims? Meh. Their lives weren’t worth more than 11 days each, huh?

I’ll continue to empathize (the real kind, not the fake Obama kind) with the families of the victims. The victims were innocent people who did not “die with compassion”. Instead, they died in terror and horrific pain. And they did so without being able to have so much as a “good-bye” to their loved ones.

In Obama’s world-view, the “compassionate release” of the man who murdered them is preferable. In mine, not so much.

when I posted this story yesterday. Obama apologists want to explain everything the man does or doesn’t do away.

How many times can I say that this administration is a bunch of stupid f*ck*ps. Our fellow citizens died at the hands of treacherous people. Our government is complicit in the perp’s release. He will thumb his nose at us for a long time.

We can’t fix stupid but we can fire them. Each and every one. Remember the season is open on RHINO’s too. (NO LIMITS)

I wonder if Nugent could make it over for Sunday’s target shoot?

  • snowshooze

Treasonous low down, rotten snake-in-the-grass underhanded evil bastard.
Other than that, I have no issues with Obama.

I did not mean to violate the profanity clause of our membership.
Forgive me…it was only the heat of the moment.

  • f2000

BP lobbied the Scottish government for this release.

BP had a financial interest in this release.

Obama was the largest recipient of campaign donations from BP (70K ??).

Did the contribution buy BP any influence with the President, and did BP use that influence to also lobby the US government for a favorable outcome?

OK, kinda two questions, but I think the first one sort of answers itself.

Lori, I had not heard it stated that way before. This really puts it in perspective.

Thanks for venting on this. I think you’ve let off some steam for many folks here today.

I’d be more surprised if the O said anything negative about the whole deal than if he praised the terrorist and sent him presents to celebrate the release…

Obama and his handlers are on the take on the oil deal from the get go. Now you know why Obama was bowing over there.

Murdering a plane load of innocent men, women and children and the very fact that there was ever even a conversation about releasing this monster for ANY reason is morally despicable and reprehensible !

Everyone involved in this, from The Obama Administration, The Scottish Government and BP have all jumped in bed with the devil
and shook his bloody hand and tossed any semblance of decency,
respect and common sense they had left right out the window.

American Citizens were murdered in this crime. Our current President and his Administration decided that THEY preferred
that a mass murderer of American citizens be set free under “Compassionate” reasoning/excuses in lieu of possibly being transferred to Libyan custody. Obviously our country wasn’t sure
the serial killer was really on death’s door and were worried about
what his return to Libya could mean to terrorist moral. But gee if those idiot Scots are going to give up custody of this killer of innocent people they might as well just cut him loose in Scotland
so every second his is alive and free is another wound to the living victims of this perversion of humanity and another insult to the memory of the dead. And no real cry or noise from the Obama Administration about how releasing this murderer at all is a crime unto itself. They should have railed to every one of their cohorts
in the MSM and stopped Scotland from releasing him at all.
A sternly worded letter to Scotland just in case and why don’t we just keep this on the hush hush……
What? They released him? No that’s just wrong…….maybe it’s Bush’s fault?

Personally following his conviction he should have, after a respectably short period of time, he should have stopped using
valuable air and become compost. One the Scots said they didn’t want him any more I’d have seen if there was a victim on that plane from Texas or Florida and I’d have sent him there and swabbed his arm myself. But hey that’s just me, I’m pretty cut and dry that way.

An interesting sidebar to this story is this. The terrorist was found, by the British socialized medicine’s National Health Service, to have incurable, untreatable cancer, & was given 3 months to live. Under NHS rationing policies, prostate cancer is not considered worth treating. Thus, the terrorist was given 3 months to live without treatment in Britian. In Libya, it appears he is getting actual treatment & now has a 10+ year life expectancy.

    • jackhammer

I did notice his 3 months is getting really long.

      • gamechange11two

Prostate cancer is a slow killer. Untreated it can take years before metastatis occurs, and many men with prostate cancer die of other causes before symptoms show up. Sure, this could have been an advanced case when it was discovered, but, as we have now seen, a three month death sentence was an unlikely diagnosis to pinpoint.

This release was purely political. Obama feigning outrage is one of his most cynical ploys yet. His complicity is documented and needs to be front page above the fold right on through the second of November.

  • http://www.scragged.com petrarch

By any sort of justice, he’d be dead by firing squad by now.

    • partyof1

Of course life with no parole is just the same isn’t it. Oops.

  • barleycorn

I don’t think this one is worth the cost of ammo.

Powerline has an informative post on this and in isolation I think they correctly analyze what happened and why.

What the Obama Administration should be faulted for is the fact that a criminal was released, not what the grounds for his release were.

Because of Obama’s suicidal need to be loved by our enemies and his disinterest in our traditional allies, he is rightly viewed as a paper tiger who can be ignored with impunity.
