Hey, Dems: Who’s Self-Loathing Now?

Oh,  the sweet, sweet irony. As a party, Democrats are always quick to throw the “gender traitor” or the “self-loathing” label at a person whom they deem should be walking in lock-step with them. They box people up into special interest groups and if you dare wander off the leftist plantation with thoughts of your own, it can only be explained by insanity or self-hatred. Now, however, it appears as if they are the ones who are rather self-loathing. Or, at least, totally embarrassed and ashamed of having a D next to their name, as evidenced by a new ad campaign for Democrat Harry Mitchell. The ad touts Republicans only who have endorsed Mitchell.

It’s funny that one would want the support of Republicans, isn’t it? Because, racism. Also, George W. Bush. I mean, aren’t we violence fomenting h8rs and stuff? Totally cuckoo pants and off the rails?

No, he doesn’t say he’s a Republican — just all of his supporters announce “I’m a Republican, and I support Harry Mitchell.”

Mitchell’s party entirely unmentioned. I’m a Republican… I’m a Republican… I’m a Republican… Harry Mitchell.

Slick, huh?

Almost as slick as their super cool new logo.

I suppose Democrats can’t rely on getting support from the DNC, since Kaine has been so busy fiddling around with Photoshop and coming up with that oh-so-inventive logo of the letter D. In a circle. When I first saw it, I thought it had to have been done by a child. I figured it was some lame attempt at Reaching The Children ™ and that it had been a school contest or some such. No, no – it was all Kaine’s DNC. They are even desperately begging people, “Can we send you a sticker?” with the pitiful logo. So, I now imagine Kaine, curled up in the fetal position and whimpering, muttering, “My stickers! Did you see my super cool logo? Change, baby! – Mommy. I want Mommy – Please take a sticker. I can haz cookie now?”

Worse, the logo was actually teased. No, really.  The DNC made a big to-do and touted that they had a “major announcement” impending that would totally excite Democrats.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine plans to make what’s being billed as a major announcement for the party Wednesday.

Any link one clicked on the party’s website early Wednesday touted the announcement, without offering details.

However, a Democratic source with knowledge of the speech said it will be about the future of the party.

The source told CNN that Kaine will announce something that will excite Democrats across the country.

Apparently, it excited Harry Mitchell right into denying the party’s very existence.

Pretending you are Republicans and trying to hide your own party identity won’t help, Democrats. Because I can see November from your logo.

I'm a Republican, and I woundn't vote for Harry Mitchell (D) if he was running against Snooki from jersey shore

After sending Harry dozens of letters arguing against the health care bill and seeing hundreds of people at his office begging him not to vote for it, he was “undecided” until the day of the vote. Pelosi threw him under the bus, and he voted yes. I made it my new life’s mission to see him go down in flaming defeat. I have since moved to KY, but I sent Schweikart some money. There are lots of small businesses in his district, and they hate Harry Mitchell. I have watched the polls, and the race is closer than I expected. It’s like Obama’s approval rating…who are the 48% that think he is doing a great job?????

DerKrieger (Diary) Saturday, September 18th at 11:56PM EDT (link)

They are either getting a gubmint check or are part of the ~45% that pay ZERO net federal income taxes. The GOP needs to revamp the tax system so EVERYONE pays something otherwise we creating a permanent base of voters that will forever vote to increase the taxes of their neighbors. If they don’t pay taxes then how we not allow them to vote.

Therein lies the problem. Not only do 47% pay no taxes, Obama is re-directing more to them in grants and loans (that will be defaulted and we will pick up the tab). Gotta love that redistribution. Do you really think the GOP is going to be able to change anything while Obama is president? All they can do is slow down the destruction. I hope we avoid total collapse before 2012.

Start mandatory drung testing for people on welfare.

You will see a 70% drop in welfare payments.

and God has nothing to do with it. If a person is so broke they need my money to survive, they have no business smoking, shooting, or snorting dope. My money, my rules. It does not take too much common sense to understand that. No money, no job, living off tax dollars, equals no dope or alcohol and if you are caught with it or with in in your system, you get booted as you are either wasting tax dollars or committed fraud by not disclosing all sources of income.

But I do agree with your last statement, end welfare.

yes, if you end welfare you don't need to pry into people's private lives

Doc Holliday (Diary) Sunday, September 19th at 2:47AM EDT (link)

too many find their own lives not interesting enough, they want to focus on other people’s lives, they want to be voyeurs to the personal choices of others.

It is like the pompous prat that tells the bum on the street he will buy him dinner but not give him money, because he doesn’t want the guy to buy a bottle. I say get off your high horse, don’t treat people like dogs. You want to give them nothing, fine, but don’t be a neuvo slave master and treat people like they are pets. If some guy who is living on the street spends my freely given money on a drink, that does not matter to me at all. I had the choice to give him money or not, I am not his master.

If someone out of work wants a job, they would do much better to quit drugs. But as long as we have a welfare state, should we expand the state more to test them for drugs and alcohol? Hell no, either end the welfare or start workfare. Many people who have gainful employment have a drink or two. It is not my lot to make their personal choices. And if it was my job, I would quit that job because it is statism.

You can tell me who is right all day long, but you can never change my mind. I care too much about personal freedom to treat those on the lowest rung like my personal slaves.

Molon Labe!

I agree to an extent

PowerToThePeople (Diary) Sunday, September 19th at 12:58PM EDT (link)

with your message although it is apples and oranges. I agree that when you show compassion to a person down on their luck or on the streets due to an addiction, you do not put limits on your compassion. You give them money and then wish them well, pray for them if you are religious.

But that is personal giving based on ones convictions. When it comes to welfare, you are talking about a socialist program which believes in entitlement and that it is the job of those with more to pay for those with less. In order to get welfare, in theory, you have to show that you make little money and that without state/fed aid you could not afford to eat, pay for a home, etc. Now if you are that broke whether it is due to health/mental issues or poor choices in life(laziness) you should not be able to spend our money and spend our money on dope or alcohol. It is not spending time dictating how they live or forcing personal views on them, it is common sense that if you have so little you have to mooch off of me, you better not have money to buy dope or alcohol, period!

I do not care if a person on welfare has another job or ten jobs. If they can not afford to buy alcohol or dope on their own money and are reliant on my money to live, then they have no right to spend my money on extras such as alcohol or dope. When they are self sufficient, they can spend their money on whatever they want to, but not before.

And while it would extend the welfare office to test for use of drugs and alcohol at the start, over time the savings we get from booting those who break the rules would easily pay for the extension and would save millions upon millions of tax dollars.

It is sort of like this, I do not know you, but if I did, I would not say a word to you if you used alcohol. And while I would at least once try to get you to not use dope for health reasons or abuse alcohol for the same, it would be your personal business. But if you were loosing your home, you asked me to step in and keep you afloat, and I found out that you were taking money that you made or I gave you and spending it on dope or alcohol, my charity would end and rightfully so. You would have no right to take money from me under the pretense of staying afloat all while claiming you could not do it on your own, then turning around and spending the same money on extra things like that. The same applies to those living on our tax dollars. Until they can float themselves, they have no business spending any money on extras whether that be dope, booze, trip to Hawaii, etc. And if they do, they have shown that they no longer need or “deserve” tax help as they have too much free money floating around.

I am going to disagree on this one...

nivlem (Diary) Sunday, September 19th at 12:57AM EDT (link)

The 48% are made up of several different demographics.

First, three are many people that do not get cable TV. They only see the
mainstream media.

Second, many of those that are receiving a government check do not want pay taxes will in a year or two. They may be in a growing period in their
career, and have children and fall in that bracket in that year. These things
are not stagnant.

Third, many are receiving a government check and are striving to get away from it. They have goals and do not want to rely on the government.

Then, there is the fact that these polls are always heavily weighted with Dems.
The fact that they have not been in office for even 24 months, will allow the
majority not to give up “O”. Instead, they are going after Pelosi.

Last, they have chosen the color “blue”. Where is their marxist “red, white, and blue” in multi tones all shaded to “the one”.

Actually, the (D) Logo is rather Freudian...

conservativecurmudgeon (Diary) Saturday, September 18th at 11:52PM EDT (link)

Because it CLEARLY invokes the Registered Trademark icon (-you know, the “R”). As the former creative director for a not-insignificant Michigan ad firm, I can tell you that this is a strange way to reinforce brand recognition… Rather like Burger King going with a tipped-over Golden “B” that looks remarkably like the Golden M.

But, as you say, the Dems are rather obviously trying to invoke Republicans. Of course, this is nothing new. They’ve hijacked the Republicans rhetorical lexicon for two decades now, forever campaigning as conservative true-believers in free market mercantile capitalism, but governing like Marxist radicals.

That alone is enough to file a lawsuit

Remember when Dems and the MSM were going crazy after Obamacare passed and were predicting a tea party inspired act of violence? They castigated Sarah for putting up a map with “targets” posted to states of vulnerable Democrats.

Remember how they lambasted her for encouraging violence? She was the light to the fuse that was the powder keg of violenece that the Tea Party was supposed to be.

Kind of amusing now that they basically are using a target as their new logo. Wonder how many millions they paid some consultant to think up that one? I can just hear that sales pitch.

It’s a cry for help and an order to “circle” the wagons. The Democrats are facing a storm of epic proportions and find themselves surrounded by a rising sea of red. The time-tested defensive position is meant to limit the political damage to Team Obama. As evidenced by stimulus spending that was targeted at the infrastructure of the Democrat Party and not the actual infrastructure of our economy.

They probably should have spent more money shoring up the levies and less on union pensions, because the mid-term is beginning to look a lot like the Democrats’ Katrina.

Face it, they want to keep power. And if there is one thing they can count on their voters for, it’s not being overly perceptive or discerning. Anyone who was dumb enough to vote for them before might be dumb enough to do it again – if you lie skillfully, smile a lot, and bring out a shiny object.

Anthony Weiner of NY is the only Democrat I’ve heard of who is running on his record of support for Obama and Pelosi. He’s been around long enough to know his district pretty well, though, and if they weren’t ready to eat that crap right up, he wouldn’t be feeding it to them.
