The Anti-Women Left Falls Back On Sexual Slurs And Dehumanization

Last week, I attended the Smart Girl Summit in Washington, D.C.  The conference was filled with women of strength, of brains, of beauty and of fierce resolve.  Women from all walks of life who came together, fighting and trying to do what is best for their children and this country.  But, I was struck by something else; to the Left, these women are either whores or some creepy new invention of faux women, worthy of only mocking and ridicule.

Many told of times where they had been, like I have, called “gender traitors” or not real women. I’ve been called a dumb tart, just a rack, and told “I have better meat for her mouth.” I’ve been accused of being a wholly owned subsidiary of male dominated culture, whatever that means. We dumb tarts can’t seem to figure out things like that.

Every woman I met laughed such things off. That part didn’t shock me. See, we don’t relish victim-hood. We are also secure and comfortable in our own skins, breasts and fancy wombs and all. But, another reason it is laughed off did bother me. Because we are “used to it.”  The thing is, we shouldn’t be. It shouldn’t be happening. Yet, it does. Over and over.

Kirsten Powers attended the panel I was on, called Feminism 2.0, the New Face of Feminism, with Jenn Q. Public and Pamela Gorman, moderated by Adrienne Royer. While Kirsten is an unabashed liberal and likely disagrees with us on most policy points, she listened and understood the vile hatred toward conservative women that comes out of the Left. Her article at the Daily Beast today reflects that. She touched on some examples, including the most recent one whereby Jerry Brown called Meg Whitman “a whore.”  She’s a dame, you see. Thus, anything concerning financial things, which women can’t possibly understand, is whore-y. Am I right, fellas?

Jerry Brown isn’t alone. And it isn’t just coming from men. Alleged feminists are some of the worst offenders, spewing sexist and outright misogynistic garbage at conservative women. Because, abortion. They have grossly tied up equality and “women’s rights” with a legal ability to kill your unborn children. Killing the unborn is a cause to them and women who dare to challenge them by pointing out the vile nature of such a thing must be gender traitors or dehumanized in any way possible. Kirsten Powers notes the following:

While we, sadly, are all too familiar with the casual misogynistic comment, what perhaps is more surprising is where these slurs lately have been coming from—progressive bastions like the Brown camp, and liberal women.

Last month, liberal talk show host Stephanie Miller laughed uproariously when a female guest on her show said that if she ever met Michelle Malkin, “I would kick [her] right in the nuts,” and warned, “Wear a cup, lady.”

Nice, huh? Stay classy, femisogynists! My only quibble is that it’s not surprising at all. The past year alone has shown that.

Gloria Steinem recently said conservative women cannot be Feminists. Cannot. Why? Because you are anti-woman if you are pro-life. Many other faux-feminists, or femisogynists, have been flapping their soy-drinking gums with outrageous, and shrieking, outrage in a similar vein. “Oh noes!” they say “Conservative women are trying to steal Feminism! They can’t be feminists. They are icky!” Um. Selective support for only “the right kind” of woman and slamming the doors you claim to open right in their faces is antithetical to actual feminism. Shatter that glass ceiling, but only if you do it by walking in lock-step with us!

Tina Brown, also from The Daily Beast, called GOP women winning some primaries “a blow to feminism”. You know, because they are meany pants and have cooties or something. Not real women.

But, actually, the only trouble with this one is, it almost feels as if all these women winning are kind of a blow to feminism. Because, each one of them, really, most of them, are, you know, very much, uh, uh, you know, against so many of things that women have fought for such a long time.

Yeah, no. They don’t fight against what I want and I happen to be a broad, Miss Brown. I also don’t think women are stupid and, therefore, should only focus on made-up, busy work issues like the nebulous “reproductive rights” and pyramid scheme, faux- environmental issues like the Left wants them to do. She then went onto say that it was even worse because they were rich women. Oh, well, rich women. They must not have enough estrogen or something. How could women be rich? That’s for boys!

This summer, a Democrat Congresswoman, Rep. Janis Sontany (D-TN) said about her Republican counterparts ““You have to lift their skirts to find out if they are women. You sure can’t find out by how they vote!” They can’t have girly bits, you see. If they were real women, they wouldn’t have strayed off the Democrat plantation! Somehow the idea that we only dress as women is a biggie with the Left. Trying to black-ball us from their exclusive, and kinda creepy, Stepford-Feminist club isn’t enough, you see. They have to try to dehumanize us to the point where even our gender is taken away from us. An article at Alternet said:

Sarah Palin’s Mama Grizzlies are merely the latest incarnation of the anti-women’s movement — a movement to oppose real solutions for women, dressed up in a skirt and lipstick, as if to legitimize their efforts to block progress.

The ever bitter and idiotic Eleanor Clift called Sarah Palin “Pat Buchanan in drag”. Salon said Sarah Palin “may be a lady, but she ain’t no woman.” Patricia Ireland of the National Organization of Women (should have “only our kind of” in front of Women) told Democrats to vote only for “authentic” female political candidates. And Naomi Wolf once said that Jeane Kilpatrick was “uninflected by the experiences of the female body.” To the Left, we are either not real women or we are whores, conservative porn, or sex objects with no brains because a woman can’t possibly have both. The response to the Citzen’s United movie about conservative women, Fire From the Heartland, put that on full and disgusting display.

Enough. We won’t take it lying down, despite the fact that Jerry Brown apparently believes we spend all our time on our backs.

So, no. I refuse to be “used to it.” And the Left should take note and remember that old adage about hell, scorned women and fury. Please do say hello to the scorned come November.

I am thrilled by pro life woman like Angle-Carly F-Ayotte are-hopefully-heading to the US senate. There was a huge handwring in DC last week about the number of woman decling in DC.

By my count if Boxer – Lincoln- Murray go and are replaced by Ayotte-Angle-Carly F that’s a break even.

On the house side we have woman running for two seats in NY plus pro life woman in PA-NC-FL-AL-TN-IN-SD-MO-WA. Wait a minute there are women and there are women.

    I say go GOP gals

It seems like many on the left see women as just “girly bits”. Nothing else. Comments about conservative women from the left are either about abortion or of a sexual nature. As if that is all there is to women.

The leftist view of women has really damaged a lot of women IMHO.

    • renny

All that the left has ever offered women is abortion. Maybe the gift has worn out.

      • The_Gadfly

they only see women as sex objects, boobs, vagina, maybe a cute butt or the occasional leg fetish, but not as people with as much access to “inalienable rights” as men. But even more than an object, I think they think of them more along the lines of a live sex toy. As such, abortion is just an inevitable necessity to keep using them as toys while also eliminating unnecessary eaters.

So I actually think Steinem is right, conservative women can’t be feminists; it’s just that she’s right for all the wrong reasons. She’s right because although feminism used the rhetoric of “equal rights” it never was about equal rights, it was about forcing all women into a particular class of citizenship so they could be properly controlled for their intended use. So because Steinem and her ilk have corrupted the use of the word “feminism” it might be better for conservative women to adopt a different term, or simply fight under the banner of civil liberties. I do understand the desire to take back the term and use it according to its correct denotative definition, I’m just not sure we wouldn’t all be better off leaving it as is to be a sign to future generations of what can be lost to lies if no one will defend the truth.

I’m heartened to hear strong conservative women speaking out, refusing to take it any longer from the lefties who hijacked the agenda of women’s rights and turned it into a grotesque left-wing farce.

My wife greatly resents the lefties’ effort to stuff her into the pigeonhole marked Helpless Victim. She refuses to be one, and therefore is not one. Simple as that. It’s called personal responsibility and individual initiative, two concepts quite foreign to the left.

There is no woman in the world stronger than my adamantly conservative wife. She is my business partner as well, and runs the entire financial side of the business with skill and determination. All I need to do is sell stuff and ask her for my allowance. ;-)

the enfranchise women with the vote movement did not start in Upper Westside Manhattan. It started in the (conservative, traditonal) Mountain West and Prairie States, in the nineteenth century. IIRC, Wyoming was first state. Follow the movement forward from there, and examine its circumstances and beginnings. Just one more thing the left Femnazis don’t want us to dig too deeply and understand. They are illegitmate pretenders and hijackers of the movement, whose genesis was from Pioneer America. 5s again Lori your writing is superb.

that can grab power by using it.

Leftist power or the betterment of women. The powers dominating NOW, etc. will ALWAYS choose Leftist power.

I’ve been working for 30 years. I’ve worked for large, international corporations and small, independent businesses. I’ve seen a lot of misogyny over those years, but I’ve also seen conditions improve dramatically.

However, I have never seen a more misogynistic group of men than those that I currently work with at a major, proudly liberal, university. These men have memorized the script of feminist Newspeak. They can put on the mask and come off as sincere when they need something from a woman (be it help with a project, dinner cooked, or a vote). I’ve sat through numerous meetings and cubicle b.s. sessions in which Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, et al (and myself by proxy, being a conservative, pro-life woman) have been discussed with the vilest sexual terms and derogatory comments. All I have to do is take a look at the personal behavior and lives of these men to see that their actions betray their real intentions at every turn.

The problem is not men: the problem is the infantilism of Liberals who, like toddlers, are focused on their body parts and servicing their own egos.

there really is something called guilt in the human psyche, it’s tied up together with conscience. Being a conservative, family-type guy and having seen some lib guys in action behind the scenes as you describe, occurs to me their espousing loudly all the lib fem platitudes and causes, is an exercise in assuaging guilt for how they really think of and really treat the women in their lives – or within their grasp. Bill Clinton comes to mind as a classic example of this.

        • cactusjack

Weird thing is how the MSM shills for them, always gives them cover, because it is now well stocked with (lib) females. They know what’s going on but do nothing. or I guess see participating as personal career advancement prospect (?).

The level of primitive hate has jumped off the meter, The O’s election, impatience with the pace of destruction, total control, the real agenda that is, isn’t happening fast enough for their feverish minds.. They can’t contain themselves.
Liberal [ ?] women are like liberal { ?] men, there is absolutely nothing they really believe in other then force, and being by now demented, they don’t even know of that vile emotion within their twisted selves.

My ex-wife was an ardent feminist in the 70s/80s form; empowerment through victimization. Basically, any time a woman is unhappy, it’s the fault of the nearest male, and it’s the responsibility of society at large (and, of course, government) to punish all men (well, all european-descended heterosexual men) for…well, for being men. Unless they need us to do something difficult, dangerous, or disgusting – then the “old rules” apply (and, no, you Don’t get to know which rules apply at any given time). Basically, we split because I couldn’t internalize this philosophy. I committed the financial equivalent of chewing off my own leg to get out of that relationship, and my only regret is that I waited as long as I did

In contrast, the woman I’ve been married to for the last 25 years is a feminist in the conservative model; empowerment through accomplishment. Basically, all she asks for is a reasonably level playing field. I’ve seen her face death (both hers and mine) and shrug it off, if she’s unhappy about shotgun she says so, and she expects others to do the same. We’ve raised three kids to healthy, productive adulthood, including two strong, ambitious girls and a son who knows better than to patronize a woman in authority.

From my experience, liberal feminism produces nothing much other than excuses (and dead babies), while conservative feminism produces the kind of strong, decisive “pioneer woman” who stand as partners to men who are strong enough (and lucky enough) to share their lives with them.

    • Next93

I meant “if she’s unhappy about SOMETHING”, not “shotgun” (auto-correct on this phone has a vivid imagination). A for facing death. I should probably mentioned that we won both times (but it was a close thing).

Conservative women are stronger and more beautiful, both inside and out, than progressive liberal women without question.

The reason is because conservative women start from integrity and responsibility and go outward from there. Progressive women start from victimhood, zero responsibility and zero integrity and go inward from there.

As far as checking gender, Clift and Sontany should take a look in the mirror before making those pathetic comments, they probably won’t like what they see.

    Great post Lori.

He wanted to find a humane gas to put people to sleep, Their animals that believe in Eugenic but we’re on to them now.

A woman who thinks for herself is a ‘real’ woman, to me.

One who goes along with the crowd because it doesn’t involve thinking or courage, is the one I’m doubtful about.

  • http://www.examiner.com/x-1597-Charlotte-Law--Politics-Examiner Mike gamecock DeVine

that i totally agree re the general commentary re the feminist/Left/Dem view of identity politics etc, but as to this specific incident re Brown:

Wasn’t Brown et al referring to their opponent as a whore in the sense of a political whore? I think so, and given that, isn’t it true that both sides discuss such characterizations regardless of the sex of the object?

So that this particular incident really doesn’t fit the template?

    • obladioblada

but when is the last time that you heard a man described as a whore in a political or any other sense? It’s not that it doesn’t happen, it’s that the term is used almost exclusively against women.

It’s been my experience that many men– and women– reflexively refer to women as whores, bitches or other sexual epithets when women have the audacity to refuse, question or contradict them or in any way oppose their expectations. This occurs in all personal and community arenas.

There will always be male and female cretins. A strong woman has little problem handling verbal bullies, but she doesn’t have to tolerate their behavior or elect them to office.

      • http://www.examiner.com/x-1597-Charlotte-Law--Politics-Examiner Mike gamecock DeVine

to reveal, I assume. But yes, you make some good points about the usual behaviors, etc. I actually have heard politicos refer to men as whores often and recently. I have so referred to many RINO-establishment types as such.

    • pilgrim

I will agree that a lot of people use some salty language in private when they are talking politics. In my opinion Brown gave a dumb response to the “she’s a whore” when he said I will use that against her. The smart response would have been when we report what she is doing the public will decide she’s a whore independently of our campaign. It’s like Tim Russert showing the text of what they said then and now. He always left it up to the TV viewer to make the conclusion instead of calling them a liar or a hypocrite or whatever.

I’m glad Brown is a dumb elitist because it will help us defeat him.

    • http://pocketchangeproductions.net/ anotherindyfilmguy

If he were a Republican it would be 24/7 news cycle material until after the elections… as opposed to a yawn by the left…

Why give evil a break? Brown is the epitome of *good intentions* gone down the wrong road… he should be out of politics and let saner people with a better grip on reality run the country somewhere other than into the ground…

our respect rights freedom stuff like that is because we are human – the whole inalienable rights thing

it’s not because we are in some category and grouped together and they give us fake-rights based on our group – they try to define on something other than being a human – often sex, economic class, race – that is what the liberals do

        its the” real” equal rights

      • mom2oneson

I meant that as a new post! Red4 its good to see you! :)

I worked at the D.C. office of a huge New York-based law firm. Close ties with the Kennedy family, uber-liberal.

When my husband and I received word from our adoption agency that we were finally at the top of a long, long waiting list and we received the news that our son was waiting for us in the orphanage, I gave out chocolate cigars to all the partners and associates in my department.

One feminist attorney asked me, “So, does this change your view of a woman’s right to an abortion?” Pretending not to pick up on the leading nature of the question, I smiled and said, “No, I’ve always been Pro-Life.”
Her shocked, disbelieving expression was priceless. I think it was absolutely beyond her how anyone could work there and have a view different from the prevailing pro-abortion stance.

    • cactusjack

proudmarinemom, how long were you able to put up with that or are you still associated with that firm? I have been in a similar situation, they have ways, once you’re “outed” as being Republican or pro-life, of just making your work life h*ll, let alone any career advancement for you. With me being a guy they assumed it (correctly!) from the first and started the treatment on me right from the get-go.

      • proudmarinemom

as soon as we got the clearance to travel and return home with our son. Stayed home raising my children for 16 years and am now back in school and on a completely new career path to Nursing.

Old enough now that I don’t care what anybody thinks of my political views (excepting Red Staters, of course!).

Don’t let the hell-bent hearts get to you. We’re on the higher moral ground and we’re nicer, too. :)

  • DefendUSA

My initial reaction to this is, how true. You see, IMO, these leftist, you can’t be a feminist thinkers are the same people who are with Eve Ensler and the Vagina Monologues!! They want the C-word to be considered “normal” or as Jane Fonda said, “nice.” I mean, WTF on that one.

I am a conservative woman who believes just as someone else pointed out…that I am empowered by my achievements and I still want to be treated like a woman. I can grow “proverbial balls” when I need to, but I am okay with someone of the male persuasion feels the need to protect me. I have taught my daughters the same thing. We are not the kooks- they are!

They don’t understand what is missing and they never will. They are just bitter women who will only regret the way they have treated their female counterparts who are happy and well-adjusted and will hate every man alive for not making them feel fulfilled. They forget, that they got what they wanted- independence, sex without attachment, etc…and they don’t really like it and they will not admit they are wrong. It would suck to be like them.

    • proudmarinemom

but what is up with the hair? I know this takes the thread in a somewhat childish direction, but I just have to ask.

Why do liberal feminist women all have short, spikey or long, wirey, gray hair that looks like it hasn’t been touched by a comb or brush in years? Is it some kind of back-to-nature statement or what? Is it to telegraph to other liberals, “Hey, I’m in your club” or what? Pass the Lady Grecian, pulleeze.
