FBI arrests 8 in Florida for absentee ballot fraud

I have been writing up a storm about absentee ballot fraud in various places around the country. Today, the FBI arrested eight people in Florida who appear to have committed some pretty severe fraud in a 2010 School Board election in Madison,. The violations are pretty straight-forward, but also pretty brazen.

Read the story:

The investigation revealed that Johnson and her husband, Ernest Sinclair Johnson, Jr., approached voters and obtained their agreement to vote, after which the voters were asked to sign an “Absentee Ballot Request Form.” Without the voters’ knowledge or consent, an alternate address was handwritten on the form, causing the ballots to be mailed to a third party rather than directly to the registered voters. In 2010, Florida law required ballots to be sent to a voter’s registered address unless the voter was absent from the county, hospitalized, or temporarily unable to occupy their residence. The Johnsons retrieved the ballots from the third party locations, brought the ballots to the voter, waited for the person to vote, and then returned the ballots to the Supervisor of Elections. In some instances, the voters were only presented with the absentee ballot signature envelope to sign and never received the actual ballot to cast their vote.

Among the people arrested was the Madison County Supervisor of Elections, who appears to have known about all of this. The list of arrests is actually pretty striking:

  • Abra “Tina” Hill Johnson, 43, was charged with 10 counts of fraud in connection with casting a vote, and two counts of absentee ballots and voting violations.
  • Her husband Ernest Sinclair Johnson, Jr., 45, was charged with 11 counts of fraud in connection with casting votes, one count of corruptly influencing voting, and one count of perjury by false written declaration.
  • Jada Woods Williams, 34, Madison County Supervisor of Elections, was charged with 17 counts of neglect of duty and corrupt practices for allowing the distribution of these absentee ballots, contrary to Florida state statute.
  • Judy Ann Crumitie, 51, charged with four counts of fraud in connection with casting a vote, and one count of providing a false report to law enforcement authorities.
  • Laverne V. Haynes, 57, charged with two counts of fraud in connection with casting a vote, two counts of perjury by false written declaration, and one count of providing a false report to law enforcement authorities.
  • Ora Bell Rivers, 41, charged with seven counts of fraud in connection with casting a vote, three counts of perjury by false written declaration, and one count of providing a false report to law enforcement authorities.
  • Raven Simona Williams, 20, charged with two counts of fraud in connection with casting a vote, two counts of perjury by false written declaration, and one count of providing a false report to law enforcement authorities
  • Shalonda Michaelle Brinson, 36, charged with nine counts of fraud in connection with casting a vote, and one count of provided a false report to law enforcement authorities.
Good thing that the FBI doesn’t believe the left’s claim that voter fraud doesn’t exist.

Or is anyone else detecting a slight ACORN-ish flavor to all this ?

Madison is next door to Leon County, home of the state capitol, Tallahassee. As I recall, Quincy is the county seat of Madison County, and the rural county is mostly African-American. I did some work for their economic development board years ago.

Interestingly, the county was once known as a great shade tobacco producer, the thin leaves of which were used to wrap cigars. It was also famous for the local banker who encouraged everyone in the county to load up on Coca Cola stock back in the early 1900′s. Because of this, for a while, Quincy had the most millionaires per capita of any location in the South.

Now it is a troubled, poor, neglected area, and this type of fraud has been going on for many years.

Madison is on the east side of Leon County, the county I was describing is on the west side – Gadsden County. Madison is the seat of Madison County, Quincy is the seat of Gadsden.

        My bad. Same story though.

I suspected in 2000 that ballot boxes were stuffed to get those hanging chads. It doesn’t happen unless more than one ballot is forced into the machine. Liberals could not win even with those tactics. They have changed their practices or just embellished them. Unless we begin to remove politicians from office if voter fraud is discovered, we won’t stop it. Just like if we continue to arrest prostitues and allow their customers to get away with a slap on the wrist, if that, we will not help little girls forced into the trade. We hear stories of voter fraud, and the politicians are still in office. Stop allowing that on either side of the aisle.

in that election. I wonder who gets to replace Johnson in her School Board position?

    • cwilson

Nowhere in that entire article was the party affiliation of any of the suspects identified — including the elected official.

    • gritsandall

I don’t doubt that Republicans can and do act illegally. But, the preponderance of the evidence usually points to liberals. They don’t see anything wrong with using any method available to win elections. They truly believe that the end justifies the means. Most conservatives I know would not stand for illegally electing a candidate no matter how much we want to win an election.

maybe we’ll have an honest race after all (or somewhat).

While I applaud arresting and prosecuting anyone who commits voter fraud or voter intimidation etc this is small potatoes… like serving Madoff to the angry masses and letting the real perpetrators at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG, Goldman Sachs (aka Government Sachs), JPMorgan Chase, GMAC (now Ally), Morgan Stanley, Meryl Lynch, Countrywide, WAMU, Lehman Brothers, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, CitiGroup, Moodys, Fitch Ratings, Standard & Poors, the SEC (Christopher Cox), Federal Reserve Bank (Ben Bernanke), US Treasury (Hank Paulson and Tim Gethner), HUD, the White House (Bush 43) and Congress (Obama, Clinton, Pelosi, Reid, Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, McCain all who voted for TARP and were complicit in this scam and the embezzlement of US taxpayer moneies) and the sub prime loan originators like Daniel Sadek and Quickloan Funding (the poster child of subprime loan fraud) go unindicted and unprosecuted for the 2002-2008 housing bubble public-private “bipartisan” flim flam fraud scam and subsequent socialist TARP rackateering operation which followed.

The RNC and DNC have already taken the steps necessary with electronic voting in which there are no paper trails to prove who voted for who, to use the Secretaries of State and local elections officials to manipulate elections database to maintain the status quo for themselves and they WILL NOT allow ANY election against incumbants to jeopardize their hold on power. I have voted my whole life since I turned 18 however now that I have seen the light that all the elections are rigged by the various parties whoever is the County Clerk or State Secretary of State who really DECIDE the elections NOT us I will no longer be wating my time participating in this fraud. If one is concerned about election fraud one should investigate Diebold, the County Clerks and the State Secretarys thats where the real fraud is. with no paper ballots it now almost impossible to prove fraud by the electioneers who work for the DNC and RNC politbureaus.

    • avagreen

….watched the battle at Thermopylae (over and over) in the movie 300.

Agree that paperless ballots are the answer to this fraud, but not sure how to implement. At least not for this election.

Are you saying that you just refuse to vote? That would 100% keep your voice from being heard. At all.

None if the will be covered by the “media” like the DNC left-wing propaganda ministry of information (MS-NBC) or the RNC right-wing propaganda ministry of information (Fox News) neither have anything to do with reporting the real news and facts of what is gong on in this country and are more nterested in selling advertising, launching disinformation campaigns against each other and distracting the American people for the real problems of the widespread cancerous corruption of the whole system which appears to be in near terminal conditon if we (the soul) can hold out long enough once the patient (the current government as we know it), our captor, succumbs to its own cancerous lies, deceit, greed, lust, wrath, pride, sloth, envy, and gluttony; we will eventually be free.

If you people think just a few democrat strongholds doing this is somehow, a big deal, then you’ll be surprised at what’s going to happen in 2012. These corrupt politicos will be out in force come next year. Obama might be a lot of things, but stupid isn’t one of them. He has lied, cheated, and stolen the last election and he will not hesitate to steal the next one.
We the people must be vigilant next year. We must watch every state, county, and city in America for this type of behavior because it’s coming.
Imho, the 2012 elections will be the most important in our nations history. We will decide if America will remain the land of the free, or will we become another European socialist nightmare.
IT’S UP TO US, because all of the career politicians, both left and right, are NOT going to give up the elite lifestyles they’ve created for themselves without a fight.
OUR congress is the most corrupt bunch outside of N. Korea, and it’s taken them 50 years to set up this system by which they, and not we the people decide which direction America will take. If it were up to me, they should all be charged with the corruption of America.

as contentious as this election portends to be and as divided as this country is being made by opportunists I am afraid. The right and privilege to cast a vote is sacred by virtue of the blood spilt to ensure our ability do vote freely. The eventuality of voter fraud to win an election could result in violent repercussions. The last two elections we have had have already proven how partisan that decisions made by courts, AGs, and Clerks really are. They have literally changed the outcomes of elections. The chances that the voting machines can be hacked or paper ballots left in the back seat or trunk of a car seem to me to be too great.
I wonder about the casualties after this next election after all the dead peoples votes have been counted and after it is tallied how many states the Dallas Cowboys actually voted in.

he is not going to go away quietly. No way.

Absentee ballot fraud is one thing but some of the gerrymandering going on with Democratic Governors makes this look like child’s play. Although a certain Dem Governor may just have lost his playbook on both taxes & gerrymandering … http://www.ombudizen.com/

Your geography is close, but no cigar. Quincy is in Gadsden county, west of Tallahassee, Madison is the second county to the east, its county seat is Madison. It is a predominately agricultural county, never a wealthy area.

  • rpr0174

By the time this came available to the public to read, Oboner already read it and came up with ideas of how to use this to his advantage for the 2012 election.
He knows without cheating, scamming, using illegal aliens, he can’t win in 2012. The only way he can win is by voter fraud, using the illegal aliens, void SS numbers, and deceased voters.
This future dick tater of ours will find somehow to find some way to use the aforementioned ways to win the election and we will then be screwed permanently with this Commie as president.

Editorial – The Republican Threat to Voting – April 26, 2011
“citizens to be required to show a government-issued identification before they are allowed to vote.” NYT. Two forms of ID, was always a requirement for me to vote until about 2007 in California. This seems more political correctness with an end result to allow illegal voting to favor the Democrat Party. And, the idea that basic requirements to vote be maintained to insure legitimate elections is only a Republican issue is false on it’s face. Not requiring ID to vote is about fixing an election by the controlling political party in the large cities which are almost all controlled by the Public Employee Democrat Party Complex.

    • redster

California is going the opposite direction of many if not most other places, which are finally starting to require voter ID.

Someone, I think who was in the media and got a handle on it, wrote a book called something like “If it’s not Close, They Can’t Cheat”.

The premise being that the democrats can’t come up with enough stolen votes to throw an election if the opposing candidate is ahead by at least 5% or so.

  • tdog

The leftist, socialist, dhimmicrats have a much better way of rigging elections than ballot manipulation. it’s called PAYOLA POLITICS. “Free” food stamps, “free” housing, “free” health care, “free” cell phones, “free” energy subsidy’s, “free” student loans, “free” years of unemployment, Free at last, thank God I’m free at last. Martin Luther King is rolling over in his grave.

he kids filed into class Monday morning. They were very excited.
Their weekend assignment was to sell something, then give a talk
    On productive salesmanship.

Little Sally led off: “I sold girl scout cookies and I made $30″ she
Said proudly, “My sales approach was to appeal to the customer’s
Civil spirit and I credit that approach for my obvious success.”

    “Very good” said the teacher.

Little Jenny was next: “I sold magazines” she said, “I made $45 and I
Explained to everyone that magazines would keep them up on current
    Events.”

“Very good, Jenny” said the teacher..

Eventually, it was Little Johnny’s turn. The teacher held her breath …..
Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and dumped a box
Full of cash on the teacher’s desk. “$2,467″ he said.

“$2,467!” cried the teacher, “What in the world were you selling?”

    Toothbrushes” said Little Johnny.

“Toothbrushes” echoed the teacher, “How could you possibly sell
Enough tooth brushes to make that much money?”

“I found the busiest corner in town” said Little Johnny, “I set up a
Dip & Chip stand & I gave everybody who walked by a free sample.”

They all said the same thing, “Hey, this tastes like dog crap!”

Then I would say, “It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush? I used
The President Obama method of giving you something shitty, dressing
It up so it looks good, telling you it’s free, and then making you pay
To get the bad taste out of your mouth.”

Little Johnny got five stars for his efforts, bless his heart…
