WHAT? Did Cain think it would be more “gentlemanly,more good ole boys club” if the other candidates had agreed in advance not to bring this kind of stuff up? Just sexual peccadilloes is all, not a thing to do with his style of governance-which BTW- we haven’t seen any of yet. Think back and ask yourself, in your work history, can you recall a man being charged with NUMEROUS case of harassment and not deserving it? I know I can’t, the one guy I was forced to file a stalking charge against was a well known skeezeball, and yet my company just refused to fire him anyway. I had to quit to get away from him and move to another state. How many conservatives now standing up for Cain and bashing these women and the other candidates for Cain’s OWN ACTIONS, yeah how many of them rushed to judge Clinton and to assume he was guilty? Talk about a damn double standard and hypocrisy to boot! Let’s face it- there is DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE of this happening over ten years ago! No one had ever heard of Herman Cain politically then and he wasn’t running for any office-how ludicrous to claim now that this is all a smear. Who CARES who brought it out into the open? At least it was now instead of when and if Cain had become the nominee and now we know him to be a liar at the least and a possible freak at the worst and yet he wants to shift the blame onto strawmen! It’s your own fault Herman-own up to it!

I dislike Politico, but having Cain outed now is the best for the rest of the GOP field. Cain and his handlers need to stop pointing fingers and answer a growing number of questions about his past behavior around women. My first reaction was that this was just another liberal MSM smear, but with all the flip-flopping by Cain, all the changes in his story, all the back-tracking, etc., it’s starting to look like there is fire with that smoke. Too bad because Herman seemed like a good man.

I have never been a big fan of Cain because I never thought he was ready for prime time. I don’t question his conservative credentials, but the guy is an amateur, and that is not what we need in the White House. We have one of those already, and look how it’s turning out.

If these accusations are true, it may well mean that Cain is a creep. I definitely means, however, that this man is way too naive to run a successful Presidential campaign. Did he really not think this would come to light?

I forget where I read it, but it summed up the primaries perfectly: “Fight now, or lose in November.”

Vetting. Sure, it’s ugly to look at, but like legislation and sausage-making (nothing untoward meant by that), it’s necessary to produce a happy result.

Palin: the most vetted candidate In history. Nothing can be dropped on her in any October. But I digress.

Thank goodness the sexual harassment scandal happened now. Cain is now being vetted. Now, all we can do is hope that all the other candidates get embroiled in something soon. This way, all the dirty laundry is out, and there’s nothing left for an October surprise!

On the other hand, all the candidates will be so bloodied by then they’ll look like hamburger. No matter which reeling candidate wins the primary, all Obama will have to do is stick a thumb in their bruises and gouge.

I now fear you are quite correct.

Even if Cain is innocent, even if he has behaved himself for the last 12-15 years, would we want him handling any national crisis or even a non-crisis agenda, given the series of mistakes today and in the last days?

It will be interesting to see if he can save his campaign: will Republicans say “it’s just sexual harassment” a la Dems and Clinton?

Bottom line is Cain exhibits predatory behaviors alleged by multiple women. For Newt Gingrich to come out today and say no GOP candidate dare be tied to this leakage or they become a pariah by the establishment. Does anyone else find that somewhat amusing coming from him of all people?

Cain said himself he told Anderson about ONE accusal back in 2004, but the Politico story reported TWO. If it was Anderson how the hell did he learn of the second sexual harrassment accusal and deal? Cain is full of it and is imploding. Block was absolutely pathetic on Brett Baier tonight. Reading talking points on camera?? Really?? And this is a serious campaign?

Fact one, Cain certainly annoyed some women with his behavior.

Fact two. He has handled this whole matter like a liar, a fool and a buffoon.

You state that the “preponderance of evidence points to Romney.” What evidence? I have seen your posts that provide reasons that you think Romney would benefit. I have not seen any “evidence.” I think you should strike that sentence from your comments. They are just a way to cast aspersions on Romney unfairly, the same as Cain does to Perry.

They are arguing this on Anderson 360 right now. Dana is claiming is was Romney, and the others are laughing at her. The whole conversation reflected poorly on all of them. Those claiming the brutus campaign should be finished will look stupid if it ends up being the campaign they support.

It doesn’t matter who leaked it. Despite our back and forth in other threads on this story, I’m happy to know that we agree on this point.

I agree with some, but not all of this.

First, let me say, this is exactly what the Cain camp had in mind when they made the accusation. They bought some time when people weren’t scrutinizing them. That said, they also guaranteed that this is going to go on for a while, and based on past performance, I don’t see the extra time being a huge benefit for them.

Second, it does matter because of the way it was dropped. I don’t think it was right to shop the story to Politico, and I would be disappointed in knowing that a candidate did that, although I agree that it should have come out. One of the reasons I don’t think that it was Perry is because he makes his accusations himself. That illegal alien hiring by Romney wasn’t dropped to a lefty rag, Perry made the accusation in the light of day (of course, it had already been made public, but it wasn’t at discussed issue at the time.)

Third, although I disagree with how it was put out, I do agree that it was good to come out now. I think a lot of people’s negative reaction to who leaked the story is still based on the idea that this was an unsubstantiated smear, and even though it is looking more and more like there is something there, people are still reacting emotionally as if it were a trumped up charge. This is especially true because some people tend to connect to Cain on an emotional level. I remember listening to people call into Rush yesterday and say, “I know Herman Cain would never do anything of the sort.” but what do we know about Herman Cain that would give that impression? Nothing except that he comes across as likable. I think once people quit having that kind of emotional reaction to it, then people will be more likely to agree that it was good that the story came out now.

There may be a couple of overly obvious ties to the Perry Campaign, but I would wager that even Rick Perry’s biggest detractors don’t think he’s that dumb to have someone obviously tied to his campaign leaking this hit piece. Perry benefits little to nothing from the accusations.

the big winner is Mitts. He keeps the 70% of people who don’t want him as the nominee fractured instead of coming together behind Herman Cain.

Bottom line is that Mr. Cain should have known these things were going to come out and have had a plan and message in place for when it did. But they sounded totally caught off guard. Now he publicly blames another contender?

But I agree with you that it really doesn’t matter. The Cain Train missed the “bridge out” sign and is now hurtling toward an ignominious fate.

At 2:00 P.M., with no real evidence, this blogger posted a front page diary blaming Romney for the leak, claiming “I’ve had no doubts from the beginning who [Romney] was behind this” and proceeded to attack Romney’s character based on this false allegation. At least 103 comments followed, many of them attacking Romney for leaking the story.

Now the Cain camp has asked the Perry camp for an apology, claiming the Perry Camp’s fingerprints are all over this, the same blogger shamelessly publishes another blog stating that who leaked the story doesn’t matter.

What a blatant, remarkable double-standard. Five hours ago determining who leaked the story was worthwhile and relevant. Now its not. The only difference being that it was a legitimate story when people were busy falsely accusing Romney, when it turns out the real culprit was Perry — whoopsies. Nothing to see here. Who cares. The leaker is irrelevant.

Now that it’s blowed up Rick State’s face, suddenly it’s”nothing to see here” when the Cain campaign actually names who they think is responsible.

Just keep digging and beclowning yourself with with intellectual dishonesty.

I know one thing, Rick Perry is not going to get the nomination. He was in 5th place before all this, let’s see how Republican voters feel about him now.

- These are just allegations. The last of which stated “well, gee, I really should have filed against Herman. I felt uncomfortable.” Sure . Right. I say show your face, tell me what party you vote for, tell me why now, not umpteen years ago and show me proof, not an allegation. Pure, unquestionable proof. Got none? Shut up and sit down.

- As for Politico, they are left wing and have shown no proof. But all of a sudden the journalistic standard bearer. The idea is (I surmise) to keep this conversation going. Forever. Because where does it end? These are allegations nobody can apparently talk about and even the clown, unethical attorney for the complainant had been shut down by his client. Only not before he yacked on every left-wing liberal show, What party is his client registered to, by the way?

- Herman no doubt has not helped himself. But as someone who has some knowledge of such affairs I wonder how much he really knows? Was he actually party to the agreement? Especially since the clown attorney for the complainant has already said he violated the confidentiality agreement, part of which apparently says you can’t even acknowledge its existence. Not unusual by any stretch,

Anyway sir, a little stream-of-conscientiousness, I know. But methinks this will be the tactic right through the election. That is, attacking our candidates character (fallaciously or with allegations ultimately irreconcilable) to distract from the miserable failure of a President, admitted cocaine user, (where is that story, by the way? Oh yes, in his book!) who has put this country in the worst depression ever, who has no solutions and is in way over his personal capabilities. But he does give a damn good teleprompter speech and as Joe Biden said is “clean”,

So again, not questioning you sir. Just saying we should save these stories in a place where they are reusable. Because this is going to keep happening, ad nauseum, right up until the General.

Cain has already played the race card. Not good. It shows he’s desperate and will say and do anything to win.

If Cain doesn’t win the nomination the Left will say in a loud collective voice “The GOP had a chance to nominate a Black Man and they didn’t. This PROVES they are racists.” If Cain is a sore looser he may join the Left-wing chorus.

Not good.

And if Perry’s team is involved in leaking the story, this could backfire on their campaign and Cain’s numbers could get into the 40s very soon. I agree that having 3 women now claiming sexual harassment against Cain is very troubling, but the way in which the story broke still engenders a lot of empathy toward Cain, I’m afraid.

My biggest fear over the last week is that so many seem to be putting their emotions ahead of their reason and are willing to let this go as a partisan attack on a successful black conservative, without truly analyzing how weak, contradictory, and liberal Cain has been on his actual policy positions.

Not only has he been untruthful in his answers about the scandal, he also has a big problem articulating what he actually does believe on substantive policy positions. I watched the Fox All-Star round table segment with Cain today and it was clear to me that the questioners were scratching their heads and asking multiple follow up questions to try and pin him down on giving definite credible answers that he couldn’t squirm out of. However, he is a master at obfuscating and spinning and constantly uses the evasive technique that we are misunderstanding what he said. He doesn’t make sense because he is trying to triangulate every position – hence, Krauthammer called him on it and said he was being Clintonian, which was a well-deserved characterization.

If the polling trends don’t change soon, I greatly fear that we will be nominating someone primarily based on his charisma and charm who is totally unqualified to serve as President. Cain’s handling of the sex scandal is just a preview of how we would handle other things, and we can do better than this. There is still time to get this right, and I really hope that people are going to wake up and see Cain for who he really is before it is too late and we have Obama part 2 with an “R” in front of his name as our nominee.

and Cain should stop being such a baby and come clean. Look, when some one gets caught doing something, whats the first thing they do, they blame others. I think Cain knew all along this would sink his campaign, that why he went for the money with books. He did not try to build a ground game.

What makes me sick, is Hannity and many conservatives are treating this like they know Cain is not guilty. First, they said it was a hit piece, but everything they said in it turned out to be true. Its Cain that lied his way through the day, but they are wrong for blaming people, and I hope people understand, we do not need another race card playing president.

1) WE DO NOT KNOW THE IDENTITIES OF ANY OF THE ACCUSERS.

2) We do not know the nature of the allegations, nor of Cain’s relationship to the accusers.

3) Cain is not lying. I’ve found him to be completely candid, and is simply recalling events that happened over a decade ago that weren’t (in his recollection) anything even close to resembling “harrassment” as they occur to him. Can you remember what you were doing, especially what “gestures” you were making a dozen years ago, especially ones that were not adjudicated? The freakin’ attorney himself claimed it was all settled via fax, and he’s already tossed the case file. What does that tell you?

4) So, you know what happened, Mr. Streiff? You know this wasn’t a nusiance suit, settled as an insurance matter? Counsel will typically tell you it costs tens of thousands of dollars just to have the lawyers open their briefcases, so it’s best just to write a check, even if you didn’t do anything, and you want your name cleared, it usually isn’t worth it, especially when the proceedings are sealed.

5) I think this thing actually could have the effect of blowing up what a despicable mess we’ve made of the plaintiff’s bar, and how desperately we need lawsuit reform. “Sexual Harrasment” is a liberal lawyer’s Full Employment Act, and it has the awful effect of making perfectly upstanding citizens into sexual predators by simple, unproven allegations. Just read some of these responses.

What the OP really means it that he is GLAD that the Politico outed a candidate that threatened his personal favorite. At least have the intellectual honesty to admit that.

Once again, the establishment leads you all around like the sheep that you are. They were scared of Sarah Palin, BAM, they spend two years attacking her. Herman Cain scares them next, BAM, better out him too.

For me, I will write my own name in before I ever vote for a Romney or Perry. I prefer to wait and process the evidence of what Cain did or did not do rather than be spoon fed the information from power hungry, political whores who are no better than the current ruler of the USSA Politburo.
