Sure it’s fun trying to figure this out, but in the end it really doesn’t matter because Herman Cain has been accused of some variety of sexual harassment by at least three former employees. And unless we’re going to play the part of Lanny Davis and James Carville in 1996, Herman Cain owes everyone some answers.
For the record, despite the pathetic mewling by Cain and his campaign manager Mark Block blaming the Perry camp for pointing Politico towards the Cain sex scandal story, I don’t see anything there more substantive than some enmity Cain obviously holds for Perry. I say enmity because of his egregious pile-on of the nothingburger “N*****head Rock” story and his statement that he would not support a Perry candidacy. Personally, I think the preponderance of evidence points to Romney.
Having said that, I don’t care. Whomever pointed this story out to Politico did the GOP a great service. I can’t imagine what the landscape would look like if Cain had won several primaries, or Heaven forfend, the nomination and then had this drop.
The fact is that despite Politico’s editorial sleaziness and water carrying for Democrat politicians, they got this story 100% right. The fact is that Cain had ten (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) days to prepare for this story and either couldn’t or didn’t. The fact is that Cain has changed his story at least four times since Monday. If you count the fact that he lied to the guy he’s accusing of leaking the story (no Herman there wasn’t “one” case, there are at least three, and I’m betting some multiple of that are yet to emerge), he’s changed it five times.
Cain’s sex scandal is a self-inflicted wound from the word “go”. If he wants to blame someone and demand an apology from that person he should send Mark Block out to Dollar General to buy a mirror.

The problem is, a) that’s going to be hard to prove, b) makes him look petty (especially with the racial excuses – which will get you exactly nowhere with GOP voters), and c) I don’t think anyone really much cares who uncovered this.
I pretty much agree with streiff’s analysis and am very happy we’re discussing this now instead of say, 1 year from now. I’m not certain Romney is behind this, but we’re all just speculating there.
What really stinks is that I feel like I’m getting backed into a corner with Romney. With the other top tier guys self-immolating, I’m not sure where else I have to go. I feel like a President Perry would disappoint me less than Romney, but I think he’s a higher risk general election candidate – primarily because he can’t articulate his way out of a paper bag (even though I do like that he is hated so much by the left). The fact maybe Ginsburg and Kennedy might be replaced in the next term is also not lost on me.
Very frustrating that I cannot vote for Paul Ryan, John Bolton, Mike Pence or Jim DeMint – very electable conservatives, IMHO. Really, we should be able to run Mr. Peanut against Obama and win but such is the state of our crumbling republic.

Perry is finished. He may get some of the backwash from Cain as voters who ran away from Perry based on his debate performances, love of illegal aliens, and controversial vacationing habits run back to Perry in desperation but will they really embrace him again.
The myth of Perry was far more attractive than the actual man. In August, Perry was a larger-than-life figure that Republicans knew nothing about other than that other conservatives liked him.
Then the real guy showed up at the debates and Republicans cast about looking for “anyone but Perry”. (Surprisingly, they missed Mitt Romney, the tall handsome man who did a helluva job pissing off liberals as the Governor of Massachusetts.) So they ran to Cain. Then 3 anonymous women were reported to have been harassed by Cain and those same fickle voters went “ew” and (as of 11-2-11) have not yet run from Cain.
But they will. And when they do, they will be split between Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Perry. Which is fine.
One thing is clear: not a shred of evidence has surfaced that Romney have anything to do with this leak. Perry’s staff has a fingerprint or two on it. But nothing more at this point.

The problem is I don’t see Perry being able to persuade enough of the insufferable but critical squishes to vote for him in the general like Romney will (even if it’s for superficial reasons such as looks and comportment – *sigh*). My hope is Romney just governed MA as conservative as that state could be governed and is more conservative than his record.
I don’t think my worries are unfounded. Obama should be unelectable with all the economic mayhem he has wrought, but how do you explain his 45% support with Gallup today?
It is bothering that Romney won’t unequivocally denounce the church of AGW (or Romneycare, for that matter) like Perry, but I believe he ultimately did scrap any plans for regulating carbon after playing coy with the eco-wackjobs.

Perry needs to sharpen his game a little, I agree. But don’t forget that his bad debate performances came when he was also handling the Texas wildfires, and he is essentially the only candidate who has major responsibilities outside of running for President. That isn’t meant as an excuse, but it is a sign that there is room for improvement.
Perry also has a good record and hasn’t been afraid to challenge Obama outside of conservative earshot. if people are willing to give him a second chance, I think he can sell people on his vision for America.

Polling has consistently shown that a whole bunch of people have not been firm in their responses, in other words, they’d be swayed to another candidate if need be. Cain supporters are tea party people that never would have gone to liberal Mitt anyway.
How this plays out is somewhat dependent on how the big talkers and Fox position themselves behind Cain. If they refuse to admit that maybe there is a problem and continue to back him no matter what, he continues to roll along basically unscathed. As long as he’s got that support system, he won’t crumble. (So far already today, sounds like Limbaugh is still riding on the Cain Train.)
Newt came out and basically told Cain to shut up and stop accusing other campaigns. If Cain falls, Perry and Gingrich might come together to form a front against Romney. Newt probably knows he may not have the money to go the distance so his next best option is a Cabinet position in a Perry WH.
Who knows, but for now, let’s just let Herman be Herman and hope that he can continue to be allowed to be the one that determines what the definition of harrassment is, rather than the women subjected to it.

I understand their reaction after seeing so many conservatives dragged down by false scandals, however, I remember thinking when they first started “He’s not talking like he’s perfectly innocent, and if he’s not, there is going to be a problem.”
Unfortunately, not every scandal is a false scandal. Who knows if this is a false one or not, but Cain seems absolutely unable to make these charges go away, and in politics, that is as bad as being actually guilty.

We don’t know what actually happened because of confidentiality agreements, and may never know. But I find it telling that both cases reported in Politico received 5 figure settlements. IMO this looks more like the NRA saying you’ve got no case, but here’s $20k to leave us alone. By contrast, the woman in the Isiah Thomas case settled for $11 million! She had a real case, and he settled for fear of a jury awarding a larger amount.
Also, in the last few years I’ve noticed a pattern emerge with celebrity sex scandals…there are always a few extras that pile on. Tiger Woods had way too many affairs, but only about half of the women who came forward were legit. In this case, we have two anonymous women for sure. And suddenly a third has emerged. The skeptic in me can’t help but wonder if we’re going to get a few more that are looking for their 15 minutes in the spotlight.
I fully admit that this is pure conjecture on my part. He may be guilty…we just don’t know. But some of the facts suggest that it may not be as serious as many would like it to be.

No, we don’t have more than 2 anonymous sources. We have two reported anonymous sources and an alleged 3 anonymous source. In my estimation, that makes no sources. Why? Because all of the women I’ve known would come up spitting nails if they’d legitimately won sexual harassment suits and someone said the claims were baseless.
As for where the charges came from, while Romney at first seems the likely source, after thinking about it I think it’s coming from The Big 0 camp. Court case with sealed documents that suddenly become unsealed for no apparent good reason? Check. Racially tinged? Check.* Takes out an opponent to clear the field for an easy wipe up? Check. Anonymous and the press won’t provide full details? Check. Fearful enough to not wait until October for the surprise? Check.
So yes, I have to disagree with the whole premise of this diary: who leaked it and why are of critical importance. And we’ll only get those answers when people start putting pressure on Politico to put up or shut up. Right now they are ONLY engaged in a smear game.
*In point of fact, “tinged” is way to understated. These charges reek of it. Given that from the Dem perspective we are all closet racists, charges of a Black Man sexually harassing a woman are intended to raise the specter of a Black Man raping a White Woman to drive down Cain’s poll numbers. 1. Rick Perry *sucks* at debating.
2. Herman Cain may or may not have been a cad.
Perry readily admits he sucks. He owns it. And then he spins it to his advantage, but saying he’s a doer, not a pretty talker. Nails both Romney and Obama AND earns points for being personally accountable.
Cain, on the other hand, has NOT admitted anything. He has, in the past few days, blamed Perry, blamed Romney, blamed the media and even played the race card. This is a turn-off. Further, when Rick Perry had his “rock problem,” Cain’s impulse was to pile on.
The primaries are an interview. Sometimes an interview question is not looking for “the answer,” but HOW a question is answered. And Perrry and Cain have shown character in different ways in how they’ve handled their various challenges.
In my book, on this test, Perry comes out on top.

What I do not like is Cain’s Chief of Staff going on Brett Baier today and accusing Gov. Perry’s campaign of leaking this story with no proof. He accused Mr. Anderson of lying, in what I thought was a very respectful denial with some very nice words for Cain. This hurts Cain in my view. You just simply do not call people liars and sneaks with no proof.
We will not know the truth about these “allegations” until the women come forward. If Cain is truly innocent, he should do everything in his power to lift that confidentiality agreement so that he can tell the truth. I hope he does. The rumor and vitriol has gotten out of control. The sooner this is cleared up, the better.

I am hot about what has been going on at this site. So called Perry supporters HAVE been relishing in this drive by media hit job since the moment it broke, long before anyone said anything about Perry’s campaign.
What I don’t understand, and what I will never understand is how so called Republicans can cheer on the drive by media hit jobs simply because they happen to a Republican they do not support. It is beneath us to act this way. It is also blind because one the drive bys are finished with their lynching, they will turn their sites back onto Perry.
I think we have shown the establishment left and MSM that we are nothing to fear. Gone are the days of Tea Party rallies, one are the days when we clamored for the end to socialism in America. Now we are reduced to warring factions who only know how to point guns at our own former friends.
I am truly disgusted by what is going on here, I am kidding either. I am pissed and disheartened, and will likely take another long break. Maybe I can find something better to do like knock on doors or put up signs. I find what is going on right HERE right NOW to be a total waste.

As a Perry supporter I had to endure the Gardasil nonsense, the misrepresentation of Perry’s views on immigration, and the rock “controversy.”. That is precisely why I am witholding judgment on the veracity of these allegations against Cain. If I want people to be fair to my candidate, I must be to theirs as well. Even if we strongly disagree.
But if some of us, no matter who we support stick to facts and the record then we can set a different tone. That does not mean that we will always agree or that RS should quit reporting what is in the news for conservatives, but it does mean that our comments can be balanced and informed.

4 tbsp. flour
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. white wine
1/2 c. water
2 cloves garlic, finely diced or crushed.
2 tbsp. thyme
2 tbsp. parsley
Pepper to taste
Clean squid by removing tentacles and ink sack and membrane.
Slice body sack into circles and cut up tentacles.
Melt butter in large frying pan and brown garlic in butter.
Add flour and mix thoroughly. Careful not to scorch!
Add wine and water to make sauce. Add spices.
Add calamari and cook until it turns opaque white.
Grind fresh pepper into sauce.
Serve over hot linguini or with polenta.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired

The Gardisil issue and the tuition issue are within the political realm, they are legitimate issues for debate. Also, the rock issue with Perry is nothing like this. Nobody is going to resign from a campaign over a rock. The sexual misconduct claim is the standard for taking a politician out, either that or missapropriation of funds.
I have said it before and will say it for the last time. My complaint is with how so called Perry supporters are acting, it is like they know only bringing some guy down could pull their guy up. In other words, the farthest thing from conservatism.
I will not be surprised if this does ruin Cain’s political career. And if he really has a problem,, we should know. But should his own side be cheering this on or defending him? Even accused criminals get a defense. If we don’t defend our own people from attacks, who will?
I am still open to Perry, I think he is getting better. But the Perrybots who have jumped in bed with the MSM hit machine are doing real damage, to their own guy.

I think what you are reading as schadenfreude, a lot of Perry supporters are reading as vindication.
Most of the Perry supporters here have legitimate doubts about Cain’s ability to lead and his conservative credentials. This is magnified by the fact that Cain doesn’t have a record, so we can only go on his rhetoric. I have made the points before, I don’t feel compelled to remake them, but I do think that the concerns are legitimate.
I have seen a number of posts legitimately ask Cain supporters to make the conservative case for Cain. The answers have included “Cain is ahead of Rick Perry in the polls,” “Rick Perry is a moron” “Rick Perry is an immigration squish” and almost always “When Herman Cain said something indicated he is a moderate on this issue, he misspoke. He’s really a conservative on this issue.”
What I have yet to see is a Cain supporter say, “I know Cain supports the conservative position on X, even though he said Y, because he has done Z.”. And frankly, it looks to people who don’t support Cain as if it is a same bit of the cult of personality that helped bring Obama to office in 2008. It really looks like a blind faith in Cain, that not all of us share.
That is why when some of these issues came around Cain, a lot of Perry supporters (and Mitt supporters, and Gingrich supporters who are generally not mentioned because they are fewer in number here), saw this as an opportunity to say, “see Cain supporters, he’s not who you think he is! He is not who he is claiming to be!”. To which the answer has still been, “ha, Cain is leading in the polls,” “Rick Perry is a moron,” and “Rick Perry loves to make illegal immigrant babies retarded sluts.”.
That is why I think that there is an issue between Cain and Perry supporters here, and why it is easy to see some of the comments as reveling in Cain’s failures, which is not intended. Certainly, there is some joy in a sense of vindication, but it not joy in seeing Cain, who I think is probably a good man, taken down, but in having proof that he is not the great candidate that he is not the great conservative that a number of Cain’s supporters have (at least apparently) taken on faith that he is.
This isn’t to say that Cain supporters are delusional. He has a likable personality, and I think we all appreciate seeing a minority man do well and know that he did well through hard work. I do think that there are legitimate questions about how he would govern, and discussions about the scandal is an attempt, in the minds of Perry supporters, to try to Remove the “Cain-colored glasses” that at least some supporters appear to have.
I acknowledge I am a Perry supporter, so please don’t take my post as anything more than trying to honestly explain what I see happening, indeed, I don’t speak for anyone but myself, and think I understand why you take offense, and why I don’t think offense is meant.

My thought was to encourage someone who I read as trying to calm down a situation, however imperfectly, and to give some positive reinforcement for that, especially knowing that the poster in question can be animated. (baby steps and all). Again, I should have been clear, had other thoughts on my mind, and made a too sort statement that leant itself to an interpretation which I did not intend.
That said, I hope that is behind us, and I would like your thoughts on the rather long post that is hard to type on an iPad, but my laptop won’t allow me to reply tonight.

In the meantime, this story is an instructive look at how Mr. Cain handles a scandal, and the way he prepares for and responds to a crisis.
It is also very interesting to note the speed with which he uses the race card allegations, and the willingness to point the finger of blame without having ANY evidence to offer.
This episode has convinced me that Mr. Cain is not ready to be the Republican candidate to take on Obama . . .

Why is it illegitimate to point to Herman Cain’s inept handling of these sexual harassment charges? Why is it illegitimate to point out that Cain’s statements on abortion are absolutely baffling and still inconsistent weeks after the initial trouble?

I’m not a prolific commentor, but I like to be around people who can disagree without being too disrepectful. For some reason, this site seems to have more flame wars than others – the newbie trolls aside, I think it’s just because politics is a passionate game. However, it would be nice to keep the insults down to a roar and not hit below the belt, but I guess that’s just not going to happen with some people. I still think you can disagree without getting personal, but when it heats up and is not satisfying, then a break is, I agree, most welcome.
I love Red State as it’s the only site around with the best commentary on conservative politics and news (love, love, love LUR). But I have yet to find strident lecturing changing any minds.

There is no guarantee that Cain’s demise would benefit Perry, it could help Gingrich or even Paul. Nor do I believe it is a good thing to see a deeply flawed but, decent man that could do a lot of good for the country. That’s my honest answer as a Perry supporter.
If Cain wants to have a shot at the White House, he’d better get all his stories and strategies straight and get his staffers on message. Otherwise, its game over for Cain. Thus far being the first viable Black Republican Presidential Candidate has allowed Cain to weather blunder after blunder that would have hurt his campaign if he were White. We want him to succeed, remember we are the Party of Lincoln. Even if we think our guy(or lady) is the better choice.
However, Cain just doesn’t seem prepared for the rigors of the Presidency, if he cannot properly handle this crisis, how can we trust his judgement and composure handling a real crisis? That is the real issue at hand, not concern over alleged sexual advances.

I totally underestimated the vehemence with which the most vitriolic part of the Republican Party hates Mitt.
I can’t go into religion, so I’ll just have to assume that they hated Mitt for reasons other than the fact that Mitt is a member of a church that teaches that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.
But whatever their reasons were, it seemed very childish to me in 2008. After all, look how many Utah Mormons voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Mormons voted for Bush with greater percentages than evangelical Christians.
And that favor has never been repaid.

First, let me say, this is exactly what the Cain camp had in mind when they made the accusation. They bought some time when people weren’t scrutinizing them. That said, they also guaranteed that this is going to go on for a while, and based on past performance, I don’t see the extra time being a huge benefit for them.
Second, it does matter because of the way it was dropped. I don’t think it was right to shop the story to Politico, and I would be disappointed in knowing that a candidate did that, although I agree that it should have come out. One of the reasons I don’t think that it was Perry is because he makes his accusations himself. That illegal alien hiring by Romney wasn’t dropped to a lefty rag, Perry made the accusation in the light of day (of course, it had already been made public, but it wasn’t at discussed issue at the time.)
Third, although I disagree with how it was put out, I do agree that it was good to come out now. I think a lot of people’s negative reaction to who leaked the story is still based on the idea that this was an unsubstantiated smear, and even though it is looking more and more like there is something there, people are still reacting emotionally as if it were a trumped up charge. This is especially true because some people tend to connect to Cain on an emotional level. I remember listening to people call into Rush yesterday and say, “I know Herman Cain would never do anything of the sort.” but what do we know about Herman Cain that would give that impression? Nothing except that he comes across as likable. I think once people quit having that kind of emotional reaction to it, then people will be more likely to agree that it was good that the story came out now.

What a blatant, remarkable double-standard. Five hours ago determining who leaked the story was worthwhile and relevant. Now its not. I agree that having 3 women now claiming sexual harassment against Cain is very troubling, but the way in which the story broke still engenders a lot of empathy toward Cain, I’m afraid.
My biggest fear over the last week is that so many seem to be putting their emotions ahead of their reason and are willing to let this go as a partisan attack on a successful black conservative, without truly analyzing how weak, contradictory, and liberal Cain has been on his actual policy positions.
Not only has he been untruthful in his answers about the scandal, he also has a big problem articulating what he actually does believe on substantive policy positions. I watched the Fox All-Star round table segment with Cain today and it was clear to me that the questioners were scratching their heads and asking multiple follow up questions to try and pin him down on giving definite credible answers that he couldn’t squirm out of. However, he is a master at obfuscating and spinning and constantly uses the evasive technique that we are misunderstanding what he said. He doesn’t make sense because he is trying to triangulate every position – hence, Krauthammer called him on it and said he was being Clintonian, which was a well-deserved characterization.
If the polling trends don’t change soon, I greatly fear that we will be nominating someone primarily based on his charisma and charm who is totally unqualified to serve as President. Cain’s handling of the sex scandal is just a preview of how we would handle other things, and we can do better than this. There is still time to get this right, and I really hope that people are going to wake up and see Cain for who he really is before it is too late and we have Obama part 2 with an “R” in front of his name as our nominee.

3) Cain is not lying. I’ve found him to be completely candid, and is simply recalling events that happened over a decade ago that weren’t (in his recollection) anything even close to resembling “harrassment” as they occur to him. Can you remember what you were doing, especially what “gestures” you were making a dozen years ago, especially ones that were not adjudicated? The freakin’ attorney himself claimed it was all settled via fax, and he’s already tossed the case file. What does that tell you?
4) So, you know what happened, Mr. Streiff? You know this wasn’t a nusiance suit, settled as an insurance matter? Counsel will typically tell you it costs tens of thousands of dollars just to have the lawyers open their briefcases, so it’s best just to write a check, even if you didn’t do anything, and you want your name cleared, it usually isn’t worth it, especially when the proceedings are sealed.
5) I think this thing actually could have the effect of blowing up what a despicable mess we’ve made of the plaintiff’s bar, and how desperately we need lawsuit reform. “Sexual Harrasment” is a liberal lawyer’s Full Employment Act, and it has the awful effect of making perfectly upstanding citizens into sexual predators by simple, unproven allegations. This is one of the premier conservative sites on the Internet. I’m sure Cain campaign personnel read some of the celebratory posts from Perry supporters. I mean, Perry posters were high-fiving each other and calling for Cain to quit. It’s as if the whole thing was planned and coordinated in advance. You know, dump, dump, dump. Pile on. Keep the fires blazing. Stick to a rehearsed set of talking points. And, finally, build irreversible anti-Cain momentum that will cause him to drop out.
If you are investigating a crime the first questions are:
1) Who had motive?
2) Who stood to gain?

This problem would have come out later at some point. I have seen posts on twitter where people have been tracing this back to a rumor back in 2004 during Cain’s senate run. This is an issue that Cain has actually admitted to discussing back then. But then claims that the Perry campaign is making false accusations? Huh?
Cain should have just said yes I was falsely accused back then and that’s it. It would have died off as quickly as it started. But all the Cain campaign did was blame others which fanned the flames for the press which kept digging.
Blaming the messenger only makes the original message (accusation) so much worse. This just shows the Cain campaign isn’t ready for Obama and his machine.

We know that it was sometime during his tenure as head of the National Restaurant Association. What else did Herman Cain do during this time? In April of 94 he confronted President Clinton in a televised town hall meeting in Kansas City, Missouri, on Hillarycare. Later it went down in defeat, Newsweek noted that it was that confrontation as the primary reason. Knowing what we do about what the Clintons were cable of in retaliation to political enemies, it is not to far a stretch to put them in the middle of this suppose sex scandal. It may be why politico will not pursue the matter any further.
This story continues now as “who wants to sabotage the Cain campaign?“ maybe Mitt, maybe Newt or Perry what the hell? Where did this story come from? Who knew about this often common occurrence of women accusing those in power of sexual harassment, especially in the 90s. The one campaign that has the most to gain in this assault against Cain, is Obama. Now, who might be interested in being instrumental in helping Obama in his reelection campaign, get credit for helping the party in that effort while finalizing their payback of Herman Cain? The Clintons!, Bill and Hillary.
During the Democrat primary the leftist pundits, (Chris Matthews comes to mind) stated that the Clinton’s leadership of the party was over and they should step aside. Well they didn’t, (remember Bill stepping in for Obama during a news conference?) big hit! Polls: Hillary is the most popular official in the Obama administration. Now behind the scenes they are taking out a Republican front runner. This is the potential bomb in this whole sex scandal story. Remember it wasn’t that long ago that suggestions were being floated for Hillary to make a primary challenge.
This does not mean that Hillary will make another run, ever! But as Bill has taught Hillary, (as governor of one of the poorest States at that time), there is a lot of money to be made as a politician elected or not. Much more than any salary as an office holder might indicate. What he taught Hillary was the practical economic realities of communism. Where those in power live off the work of those that don’t. It is that way of life for the common man that our founders attempted to eradicate. It is why they wrote a document that they thought would insure the right to and secure the right of private property.
Cain, a man from humble beginnings and his success, is what that document was meant to allow. Obama along with the Clintons is the success of the ability of those in power to take the riches of those who have created the wealth. This is the fight, this is the truth of what this election of 2012 as that of 2010, is about.

First, Cain said he had no idea what Politico was talking about, and claimed to have no knowledge of the allegations against him. As things unfolded on Monday, he claimed, little by little, more specifics about the allegations, and as the day went on, stated in various interviews that he was learning the specifics of the allegations, and remembered one in particular.
Krauthammer said that the statements Cain made on Monday were quite disengenuous as Cain stated today that he sat down with Anderson in 2004 and went over the allegations, what he considered might be a problem for him in the senate race.
So, if he knew about the allegations and the facts behind them in 2004, why was he saying on Monday that he had no idea what Politico was talking about?
I think for a lot of people, the accusations against Cain are not the issue. It’s the way Cain and him camp are handling the entire situation.

In fact, against either candidate President Obama will likely end up performing similiarly to the 2008 election. Barack Obama literally can’t wait to run against the functionally illiterate Perry, or Romney who plays right into his class warfare mantra while simultaneously being on the record supporting variants of a myriad of Obama policies at some point in the past. Against Romney, the class warfare rhetoric plays well and look for team Obama to use the same playbook Rove used on Kerry. As to Perry, his own inability to articulate a coherent thought will do him in without Obama really even having to work for it.
I agree with one element of the aforementioned, whoever leaked this story (likely a rival GOP as it would have made more sense for Obama to sit on it longer) really doesn’t matter. Ultimately Cain will be done in by a stunning lack of GOP solidarity and a daft, nigh obtuse, willingness to let their opponents dictate the template. These same glaring weaknesses are there to be exploited in the general. Hopefully we have better luck in 2016, the 2012 race is now all but over.

I haven’t seen the latest Perry videos yet, but I will take a look at them with an open mind. If Perry is able to rehabilitate perception at this point I would be ecstatic. Having read his book, I had high expectations for his debate performances and needless to say was disappointed.
Ultimately I would say it is less contermpt on my part for the current field than apathy. However, I am somewhat optimistic about the future, as I believe Marco Rubio has more potential than any prospective future candidate of either party. If he was in the race right now, the nomination would likely be his to lose despite his youth and relative inexperience.

He was engaging, articulate and addressed the concerns and questions well I thought. As for his previous performances in the debates, I thought he definitely did not ‘shine’ but I was not looking for that either. Let me know what you think..

McKillip pollster says poll was altered
Central Marketing making calls

The owner of an Oklahoma political consulting firm said a legitimate poll being conducted in Kokomo was doctored by opponents of Mayor Matt McKillip.
Last Friday, Republican mayoral candidate Rick Hamilton accused McKillip’s campaign of attacking his family through a “push poll,” a form of negative campaigning which masquerades as a phone survey.
Sources said caller identification showed the calls were made from a New York City phone number. Calls to the number were answered by individuals who identified the company as either “Central Marketing” or “Central Research.”
McKillip has denied allegations that his campaign is involved with the alleged push poll.
The mayor did, however, confirm the Oklahoman City firm Wilson Research Strategies has done polling work for him during the run-up to the May primary. According to McKillip’s pre-primary campaign finance report, Wilson received $16,000 from the McKillip campaign through April 20.
Chris Wilson, owner of Wilson Research Strategies, also confirmed Tuesday his firm has been polling in Kokomo and is proud to be working for McKillip.
Wilson said the firm is conducting polls for 15 to 20 mayoral campaigns in Indiana.
When asked about push polling, Wilson said his firm doesn’t do it.
But Allan Sutherlin, principal of Carmel-based political consultants Stakeholders Inc., said Tuesday he believed Wilson Research Strategies used the tactic earlier this year in Carmel against incumbent Mayor Jim Brainard.
“I wish I did know more about them,” Sutherlin said. “I was mad when it was happening against Jim Brainard. I don’t know who hired Wilson Research Strategies.”
Hamilton has been trying unsuccessfully to find a link between Wilson and the firm making the alleged push poll. Some of those who received the calls in question said the callers identified themselves as being from “Central Research Services” or “Central Marketing.”
But a woman who identified herself only as “a supervisor” told the Tribune Friday that Central was making calls in Kokomo.
During his interview Tuesday, Wilson first said Central Marketing Services was not involved in polling in Kokomo.
When told the telephone caller identification went back to Central Marketing, Wilson called Central “a sister company” of Wilson Research. If a supervisor told the Kokomo Tribune they were calling in Kokomo, they would be fired, Wilson said, as employees are instructed not to reveal such information.
Wilson then alleged someone must have recorded the questions being asked during the legitimate polling commissioned by McKillip, and then produced an altered version of the same interview.
Wilson said the questions asked — all of which Hamilton’s campaign termed false and misleading — were similar except for the final one concerning abortion.
Wilson said he suspected someone in Howard County added the most controversial of the statements reported to the Tribune, the allegation one of Hamilton’s daughters had an abortion.
He said that on the transcript of the tape, the caller said “good afternoon.” Wilson said his business only calls after 6 p.m. to comply with Indiana law.
“We use 350 telephones,” Wilson said. “There would be a lot of background noise on any tape recording.”
According to a transcript of the alleged push poll made public by the Kokomo Perspective, the individual being called asks the caller who paid for the poll.
“I’m pretty sure this one is for McKillip,” the caller says, according to the transcript.
Wilson said interviewers are never told who commissions polls.
“If someone said that, they would be fired,” Wilson said.
Hamilton laughed when told of the allegation that the questions were altered
“That’s the latest spin?” he asked incredulously.
Wilson’s statements are not true because the telephone numbers went back to a New York area code, Hamilton said.
“These were not local calls,” he said. “It was clear to me last Friday who was doing the poll. Now you have proof.
“Unfortunately, my daughters’ reputations have been unfairly stained with lies, something they can’t totally get back,” Hamilton said, describing the calls as “evil.”
Although the call didn’t specify which of Hamilton’s four daughters the abortion allegation was made against, Hamilton said none of his daughters have ever had an abortion, and that his family supports a “pro-life” stance.
Craig Dunn, chairman of the Howard County Republican Party, asked how supposedly local calls were done in such a way that the caller identification number would come back as from the East Coast.
“The caller ID number went back to Central Marketing,” Dunn said. “He [Wilson] is a paid liar, is what I think.
“That dog just isn’t hunting,” he said of the allegation that a legitimate survey was altered locally.
Jennifer Hollowell of the Indiana State Republican Party said Monday that Wilson is an old friend. Both worked on the 1994 campaign of David McIntosh.
“The subject was not about Kokomo,” she said. “As he left, it was mentioned they were doing some polling in Kokomo. That is as far as it went.”

this much can be taken for gospel:
1) Caller would never know the name of the company’s client
2) Caller would never know name of any person paying for a survey
3) Transcript of a purported conversation is not proof of anything
4) Even a recorded conversation is not proof of anything, as it could have been a staged call
So, there is no conclusion that can be accurately drawn from your post.

They sound like my kids when they were growing up “Daddy he hit me”, “Quit touching me” etc. Herman Cain in my Opinion is toast. he can’t answer simple questions without getting into trouble. It’s like he hasn’t researched all of the devious things that could be brought up about him. he is never prepared to answer. Just like the 9-9-9. This is a horrible plan and wil not produce the first job and may actually in the long run cost jobs. There is no incentive in the program for business to invest one penny in America and the many retired persons will have their taxes raised. My txes along wil go up by at least 9% and maybe a little more than that. why do i want that. Even if Obama wins and does away with the bush tax cuts i won’t have to pay anymore.

Sure the media want to blame Perry or Romney to help Obama but facts matter. If it hurts Romney then Perry gains.
Its not right for Cain to blame other candidates, better to let his campaign staff handle it but thus far Cain is still up in the polls and the cash is rolling in proving the people care far more about the economy than a few questionable remarks at women who may be gold diggers or too protective.
