Obama: Troops Are Fighting On My Behalf

"Why We Fight" 2012 Edition

When Barack Obama made his unsurprising announcement today that he has finally evolved far enough to endorse homosexual marriage, ironically an evolutionary dead end, he made two other interesting statements.

First, he attributes his evolution to his Christian faith. This is sort of odd, speaking as a Trinitarian Christian, because it puts Christ in the position of disavowing himself. This is not surprising. Anyone who learned Christian theology from Jeremiah Wright is bound to have imbibed a substantial number of heresies.

The most surprising statement was this:

[W]hen I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf…

Really. Our troops are fighting on his behalf? I had always imagined they were fighting on behalf of the nation.

    Sociopathic narcissism.

Obama’s official announcement endorsing gay marriage will likely get him in hot water with the Black community, who are for the most part against same sex marriage.

I think what happened was Joe Biden made his routine habit of committing a gaffe, indicating he was in support of gay marriage on national TV, which was not the administration’s official stance – until today – when Obama suddenly reversed course and officially endorsed same sex marriage as well.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan also came out yesterday in support of gay marriage, which suddenly put Obama between a rock and a hard place, in my opinion, since those in his administration were publicly voicing support for gay marriage, yet Obama himself had been on record saying he was against same sex marriage. Until today.

After the liberal press and media started ridiculing Obama as being two-faced, Obama then decided to come out in favor of gay marriage, as a way to resolve any perceived policy “division” within his own administration in my opinion. Joe Biden is the gift that keeps on giving and after Biden’s apparent gaffe, Arne Duncan wanted to show support for the Vice President so it wouldn’t make Biden appear as a lone wolf in the eyes of the press and media.

Obama no doubt wanted to wait until after the election to endorse gay marriage because he knows all too well that the majority within the black community disapprove of same sex marriage and Obama needs the African American vote to help him win in November. In California, African Americans came out in huge numbers to vote in favor of Proposition 8 which amended the state constitution banning same sex marriage. Yet knowing all of that Obama instead chose appeasement, debasement, and siding with his radical Left-wing base, over everything else.

As I said, the liberal media and liberal press were hounding Obama – making Obama look two-faced and conflicted – and therefore Obama relented and took the ‘low road’ of liberal appeasement over common sense. Even if that meant he could very well lose a good percentage of the African American vote come this fall. Which in my opinion demonstrates to the American people (whom the majority call themselves Christians) that Barack Obama would rather appease his radical Left-wing base and the liberal media, than to stand up for his self professed Christian faith – which by the way Christianity disavows homosexuality and calls it sin. Nor did Obama see fit to stand up for the black community which overwhelmingly rejects gay marriage and the sin that encompasses it.

So what we have here is Barack Hussein Obama throwing Christianity “under the bus” as well as the majority of the Black community who object to same sex marriage, and which Obama needs that very same black vote to help him get reelected in November.

Ideology trumps logic and reason I guess. Which will likely be a “train wreck” for Obama on November 6, 2012. All I can say is HALLELUJAH!!

      • http://impudent.edublogs.org/ kyle8

He is black and he is a Democrat, absolutely nothing else matters to 95% of black Americans.

        • runner12

His move will certainly depress the voter turnout in that demographic. Many have felt he has ignored the crisis of joblessness in their communities. Combine this with going against their religious faith and values and it might turn the tide against him.

It will most definitely force the hard-Leftist who hide behind the church and social justice meme to explain to their congregations how they can support a man who takes an opposite view of the Scriptures they claim to teach.

Quite the hot seat Obama has placed them on.

          • califgal

be depressed because of the gay marriage issue.

In fact, you can look for charges of racism from all over the place in order to see to it that the black turn out is what they need.

He may be a disappointment for many blacks, but they don’t care.

          • altexas

“He may be a disappointment for many blacks, but they don?t care.”

That would change my original argument from “sociopathic” to ‘sociological.

        • cwfoster

While he mapy me FAR from representing a majority, one of the biggest Obama haters I know is a black man! Obummer may have overwhelmingly taken the black vote in ’08, and while you don’t hear the rhetoric from the ‘usiual suspects’ (NAACP, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson et.al.) you can bet a good many blacks are starting to think this mulatto isn’t “black enough”.

          • funwithknives

            1) Does sociobiology have a place here and does tribalism have even a speck of influence? [Barry is The Chief of the Tribe,(DNC,etc.) after all}

            2) Or will his ‘vote as a block’, short-sighted followers, see/hear/speak no evil, give him a Pass, and Move Forward!! ?

What do Historical voting patterns tell you? Marion Barry is Still around. The Congessional Members who belong to the PDC and DSA, are run similar to, and win continually, with this kind of ‘leadership’.

Play the odds and what do you get? Write it in stone, folks….

        • spolson

will not be pleased with this. They don’t believe gays have the right to live, married or not.

        • justperhaps45

I run into a lot more vocal conservative black folks these days. The I’m not hypenated anything, just a plain old American attitude is growing. The impact of the economic invaders from the South is being felt by minorities and law abiding immigrants. They pay more of the cost in job loss and lower wage pressure.

          • Ausonius

It is quite possible that they will just not be enthused enough to vote: thinking that they will become Republicans because of theological or economic disappointment is probably a stretch.

No vote, however, as the old saying goes, is a vote for the opposition.

I also wonder about the military vote: is that fairly unified against MAObama, given the number of “minorities” in the armed forces these days?

        • trimulchio

The African American vote (no less than the LDS effort) was key to the 2008 Prop 8 victory in California. This may be something that haunts the President in a close election.

        • shdwolf1

Unfortunately, many black voters HAVE no official position, so no matter what their candidate says, they won’t get too upset, and they’ll go along. It’s like they change their position and take their clues as to what their position even is, by looking to what Barack says about it.
I remember hearing of a poll taken on the street before the last Presidential election in which McCain’s, and Republican, views were attributed to Obama, and vise-versa. The Obama supporters, blacks, had no idea what Obama’s real position on the issues were, and wholeheartedly defended the views falsely attributed to him.
I think it’s pretty clear that Obama’s recent support for gay marriage won’t garner any real opposition from his supporters. In their minds, he just cleared up what THEIR views (now)are on the issue. This man can claim to be Christ reborn and come to clear the record, and they would have his image on the cross while they worshiped him.

    • soljerblue

“Obama no doubt wanted to wait until after the election to endorse gay marriage because he knows all too well that the majority within the black community disapprove of same sex marriage and Obama needs the African American vote to help him win in November.”

I think it more likely that Obama saw two things he didn’t like — fund raising down across the board, but also with the GLBT groups and numbers of his base who support gay “marriage”. And — he can’t stand the idea that any gays, like GOPride, would — Horrors! — vote Republican. Biden didn’t “push” him into his “evolution” — he decided it was time to ‘lead from behind’ and sent Biden out to give him an excuse to endorse what so0me of us laughingly refer to as gay “marriage”.

  • veritaseequitas

or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf?”
Yes, that stuck out like sore thumb. That and the absolutely smug, self satisfied look on his “evolved” face.
This cretin is so self absorbed and creepy, I can stand neither the sight nor the sound of him. I do not believe our nation will be able to survive another 4 years of his brand of “evolution.”
Barack Obama is no Christian and he is blaspheming when he says he is. Obama worships himself only.

    • trimulchio

especially if you never carried that load yourself. However, they do what they do for their country and their comrades and out of personal pride and honor.

  • JimmyGee

Obama’s ego and sense of entitlement knows no bounds. EVERYTHING IS ABOUT him. Jesus HIMSELF does not have an ego as big as Zero-In-Chief. One other thing, for ZIC to have made the flip-flop today about gay rights tells me that his own nternal polling is looking a lot like DOOM.

    • thethinman

Jesus ALWAYS gave thanks, praise, and credit to GOD, his Father. Not once did he go around saying things like: “Man, did you see me heal that blind man” or “Haven’t you been watching? That lame man took up his bed and walked.” No, Jesus went about doing good and mostly told the people to keep it quiet, give glory to God. His deeds spoke even more eloquently than his words. Unfortunately, Obama is all mouth ,,, and ears.

      • annie54

Totally. Diarrhea of the mouth,,,and ears that don’t hear.

  • freedom555

at the order of the Commander in Chief.

If the Commander in Chief announces his personal preference for allowing gays to marry………or if he signs the Defense of Marriage Act, it makes no difference.
Our soldiers will follow his orders regardless.

    • pgogulski

I don’t know why everybody is so upset with the President. Just look at the weathervane of public opinion, and follow it, and you will find the President. “Whichever why the wind doth blow, someone is glad that it blows so. Then blow ye east or blow ye west, that wind that blows…that wind is best.”

      • MF

Opinion polls (supposedly) continually speak of the overall support for gay marriage within the US. Yet every time (yes, 100% of the time, even in the bluest of blue, California – Prop. 8) it comes to a vote, gay marriage is rejected. The MSM (LSM) keep claiming it, but it simply isn’t true. They merely hope that if they repeat a lie often enough, people eventually believe it. Well, a majority of people believe that gay marriage is supported by a majority, but it’s always the other guys who believe that, not me. The reality is that there is a big difference between what people believe and the truth.

Oh, and Obama may *say* what he thinks the people want to hear, but he will always do what he wants, sometimes in front of everyone, and sometimes behind everyone’s back. Didn’t you wonder how that knife ended up in your back?

        • MF

Apparently the 8 followed by a closed parend is formatted as a smiley. The sentence above should have read, “Yet every time (yes, 100% of the time, even in the bluest of blue, California – Prop Eight), it comes to a vote, gay marriage is rejected.”

    • emeraldcty

we support and defend the constitution. We decide what we are fighting for…some fight for their families, some for those who cannot defend themselves, some just want the bad guys to stay off our lawns. Whether this man is the CINC or someone else, nobody can tell us why we fight or whom we fight for…he just says when and who we fight.

Huge difference. Would appreciate a better understanding of that, thank you.

      • soljerblue

who insisted his armed forces swear an oath to him personally was Adolf Hitler. Obama’s not quite at that point, I suppose, but, well — he’s evolving.

  • goingpolitcalearly

When I thank a veteran, I usually refer to them fighting on my behalf, not the nation’s behalf. I think the conversational style of the interview lends itself to a first person singular use rather than say, a speech, which would lend itself to a first person plural use.

At least the lines are clearly drawn now on this issue, without having to mine sentences for contrived gotcha moments.

    • Mike Ferguson

I usually just say “Thank you for your service.” However, your are free to express yourself as you see fit. No offense to you, but I don’t see it being the same when coming from the President. He should always include himself in the group that is we the people since he is the highest representative of the people. Also when you take into account this Presidents history it makes the statement much different,he is the president, not King, Emperor, or Prince.

Also it is different because you are not the CnC, therefore it is actually different when you say that they are fighting on your (i.e. my) behalf, since you don’t have the power to wield the massive weapon that is the armed forces of the USA.

      • Mensch

I was drafting up a response but see that you have already stated it well. HUGE difference between when the Commander in Chief says it, not to the troops directly but to a national audience, and when I am thanking troops personally.

      • thethinman

No, CHICKEN little here spoke correctly – he hasn’t the gonads to actually go out and fight for his government – it’s all about changing it to a socialist democracy and taking the credit for what others do and blaming others when things go bad. or haven’t you noticed?

    • streiff

but if you say that, it is only you and Obama who would ever consider that being in the Armed Forces of the Unites States is fighting on behalf of you. It is bizarre. Really.

      • Kudzu

You’re a regular citizen and I would acknowledge it. But I don’t fight on behalf of my commanders at any level. That goes from my company commander on up to the Commander in Chief. We don’t do loyalty oaths (despite Oathkeeper stories to the contrary) and we don’t swear allegience to any party.

This line will get scant attention becuase its wrapped in a bigger Shi’ite sandwich but it deserves it. Its another “corpseman” and “57 states” that he probably believes though.

Bush never uttered such a mistake but acknowledged his role in sending men and women to war. But to my knowledge he never said we, I, were fighting on his behalf.

    • funwithknives

{Thanks for the Brevity…!} at least make the point that The Soldier’s Oath is to our Country and Constitution. As did BHO on 1/20/2009.

      Barry either forgot about his, or it’s just one more thing he will roll over and disregard. {DOMA, Immigration, ObieCare,etc…}

Can it be that this diarist is talkin’ about a pattern of behavior, morals, and ethics here? Parsing his presumed meanings and speaking style is Jay Carney’s job. and he doesn’t do it any better than you.
But thanks for comparative styles to ridicule. Sure was entertaining!

    • annplato

you are a mere citizen representing yourself, so it is appropriate to say ?you are fighting on my behalf?; if you are the President, you are always speaking on behalf the nation you represent and then, you can’t say the soldiers fight on ?my behalf?, but OUR behalf. It DID stick out like a sore thumb!

    • wumingren

I am reminded of how the Queen of England speaks. The queen uses the terms “we” and “our” when talking in sentences that everyone else would use the terms “I” and “my.” Perhaps when Obama makes himself King of the Land, he’ll revert to the queen’s form of speech.

  • Viet71

I fought in Viet Nam because I believe in a cause.

    • thethinman

“I” went to Vietnam because they told me to get on the boat. Not a single person I knew went because they believed it was a good cause. It was a horrible cause, just like Afghanistan, messing in other peoples governments when ours isn’t much better on examination. When you go to war – you go to win, to conquer the enemy. We go to war to spend billions of dollars and shed the blood of our young men and women and get NOTHING in return except higher taxes and flag draped coffins.

      • streiff

        just silly

      • larueladue

I am surprised you got on the boat. People who thought like you usually ended up in Canada.

  • califgal

that a civil right, which they say is what the right to marry is, may not be rejected by a vote.

First, am I right when I say that GLBT groups themselves have put gay marriage measures on the ballot in some states throughout the years (as opposed to measures against gay marriage opponent groups have put on ballots)?

Second, GLBT groups are quite fine with legislative votes in states that have passed gay marriage.

So, how do they get away with arguing when they lose that gay marriage is a constitutional civil right, something that shouldn’t and can’t be determined by a vote by ANYONE but being perfectly happen and satisfied when legislative votes give the right to marry in some states?

And why the heck haven’t opponents of gay marriage pummeled them on this inconsistency?

    • thethinman

Marriage is a government, controlled by the state you are married in. The federal government gets involved because of taxes and inheritance laws. and then there are institutions, hospitals to be precise, that only allow ‘relatives’ to visit sick and dying persons, regardless of the patients desire to see or not see someone they care for.

In many places and cultures, marriage is not for love, but a man or a woman’s desire to find another to support them, move them up in society, or to cement relations between people. Marriage requires a license, that license acknowledges and permits a man and a woman to live together, have sex and legitimate offspring.

I hate to have agree with you, but look how the Democrat party in general has treat the black community. They have trashed the black family with welfare. Welfare actually prevents you from get out of poverty if you take it. The blacks in the inner city are stuck in failing school. The Dems and their unions refuse to allow any effort to improve education. The Dems insist more funding is the only thing that will help then they steal the funding, and the schools remain a joke. Black America see this and still votes Democrat by 90% .

All the Dems do is just blame the republicans. In America you get the government you deserve.

    I feel sad for him.

But in all fairness, they put up with me dancing on the edge probably more than I deserve.
        Is Queer off-limits?
I think it is merely a descriptive moniker, accurate and easy to type.

I caught that too and wasn’t sure if I would stay on my feet! It’s about time he actually had the guts to finally say what we’ve all known. But when he said the soldiers “out there fighting on my behalf” I thought there is no way they are fighting for his behalf!

He didn’t send them into battle, Bush sent in the troops with much anxiety and BO denegrated Bush with every fiber of his being! Now he wants to take credit for them fighting for their country due to overturning “don’t ask don’t tell” and instructing DOJ-Holder to break the law by ignoring the Defense of Marriage Act that is STILL the law.

I thought his most narcisstic statement was last week in Afghan with the troops, when he called out the various squadrons “in the house” and then said”and we’ve got me”. But today’s remarks topped last week’s remarks if possible.

I’m am fuming on this statement where he takes credit when none is due and deflects blame when it is due; both statements usually include Bush,

For him to wield his power to score political points and use our soldiers as his pawns and promote something that 31 states have opposed is pernicious and incidous. These are the only words I can come up with to describe his open statement today.

The results from last night’s votes proved we still have a great country despite of him and I think will probably go down as the turning point in this election…thus his desperate coming out statement today.

Gay, queer, homo or fag, when people start throwing around nasty labels, the argument turns emotional. The reality is that gay marriage has become more tolerated over the last thirty years; also, when you visit gay meccas, like San Francisco, Portland, Maine, and Rehobeth, Delaware, to name a few, you will notice clean streets, rising real estate values, and the best stores and restaurants….go figure.

    • napensnake

maybe we should all welcome “gay” street sweepers, real estate agents, storekeepers, and chefs?

I believe in another post, you criticized the author for “three data points” and now you bring in one to justify your position. How does that work? Perhaps we should all become liberals so we don’t have to follow the standards we assign to everybody else?

Do you know what else comes with “gay meccas?” Increased rate of HIV/AIDS, perverted activities in public parades, increased levels of hedonism, reduction in moral standards (just because liberals think they may define decency, does not make it so.)

is that his holiness was trying to sound like one of us, and flopped. I served for 23+ years and really get embarrassed when folks say ‘thank you for your service.’ I didn’t do it for thanks or recognition or any of those things. When I think of soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines serving right now, I feel it on a personal, ‘on my behalf’ level. In my view, Obama was trying to express that sentiment that I feel from the heart; the problem is he doesn’t have that in his heart, and so it floated like a lead balloon. To him, the armed forces are nothing more than photo ops and pawns in his grand schemes. He could never be like GWB, and visit the troops in secret, or express heartfelt concern without a reporter around to record his eloquence. What he has in his heart, if indeed he has one, is only whatever it takes to advance himself and the new America he envisions.

  • shanecroach

I already stated similar thoughts in a post about the gay marriage issue, but the problem is that people are changing their minds due to a blizzard of pro gay propaganda that is being ignored by the right.

Blacks are polling closer to 50% on this issue now.

Conservatives need to get on the stick regarding this issue. It should be a slam dunk to destroy. The American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association have both been pushing for legalization and eventual rights for gays to the exclusion of any evidence whatsoever. They first declared it an illness, thinking it could be cured. Then, once it became clear there was no money to be made there, they decided it was not a sickness but instead a civil right, thus presenting themselves as arbiters of morality.

The problem is that feelings, orientations, the will, and pretty much everything else about our internal experience of life cannot be seen, heard, smelled, tasted or touched from the outside, and therefore is impossible to research scientifically.

Bottom line, they are demonstrably lying.

Combine this with the rich history of abuses by this particular group of supposed medical practitioners — everything from phrenology and Nazi style racism to the current trend of using Psychologists to diagnose veterans with pre-existing “personality disorder” in order to cheat them out of benefits — and you can demonstrate that the issue is being purposefully manipulated to attach people of faith and undermine freedom of religion.

People have already been arrested in Europe for stating homosexuality is a sin. This is where this train is headed.

I could be wrong but I think Obama may come in way down the list…. especially if it’s a multiple choice question,… including 1) the American People, 2) my family 3) the guy next to me 4) liberty and human dignity OR 5) Barack HUSSEIN Obama…
    Am I alone on this?

I tried looking up how many times Obama attended church since becoming President. Hard numbers were hard to find, but the consensus seems to be about a dozen! How does this make him a “practicing Christian”? As a Christian, I was very offended to hear him use that line, and other statements that twisted the words of the Bible to fit his anti-Christian views.
This man has done more to denigrate and malign Christians, while sucking up to Muslim terrorists, than any other President in history. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Christ favored or approved of, homosexuals. But, there were numerous passages condemning homosexuality; the most notable perhaps the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. God destroyed the whole city, save Lot and his family, because it had fallen into sin, including largely homosexuality. How this man can say his Christian Faith led him to endorse gay marriage disgusts me!
Seems to me our President can’t even accurately quote from the Bible, but he can quote without a teleprompter, and in flawless Arabic, from the Koran.
