Islamic Cleric Offended By The Mention Of Islam At 9/11 Memorial

We live in strange times. We are at a point where three lesbians can marry. We have articles in the New York Times about the difficulties homosexual couples find in conceiving children (apparently biology is no longer taught in our schools). And we have people objecting to the mention of Islam in a film about 9/11 shown at the September 11 Memorial.

“The screening of this film in its present state would greatly offend our local Muslim believers as well as any foreign Muslim visitor to the museum,” Sheikh Mostafa Elazabawy, the imam of Masjid Manhattan, wrote in a letter to the museum’s director. “Unsophisticated visitors who do not understand the difference between Al Qaeda and Muslims may come away with a prejudiced view of Islam, leading to antagonism and even confrontation toward Muslim believers near the site.”

Museum officials are standing by the film, which they say was vetted by several scholars of Islam and of terrorism. A museum spokesman and panel members described the contents of the film, which was not made available to The New York Times for viewing.

It is really hard to describe just how vile this demand is. On September 11, 2001, 19 men, and I use the term in the biological sense only, killed 2,977 innocent people. These men had one thing in common. Islam. They were motivated to act by one thing. Islam. The organization that sent them on their way to America had one thing in common. Islam.

“The terrorists need to be condemned and remembered for what they did,” Dr. Ahmed said. “But when you associate their religion with what they did, then you are automatically including, by association, one and a half billion people who had nothing to do with these actions and who ultimately the U.S. would not want to unnecessarily alienate.”

This whitewashing of 9/11 by representatives of Islamofacism is sickening. There were pacifist Japanese. There were Germans who opposed Hitler. None of this takes away from the fact that the Japanese did bomb Pearl Harbor or that the Germans did run death camps. To emphasize the actions of a handful of people over the actions and sympathies of the vast majority is nothing short of dishonesty.

The same is true of 9/11. The fact remains that most of the Islamic world is much more in sync with the beliefs and actions of the 9/11 hijackers than they are with the mealy mouthed clerics that stalk the halls of American institutions claiming we have it all wrong.

The panel was pleased to see photographs of mourning Muslims included in photo montages. The museum also includes stories of Muslim victims and the reflections of Representative Keith Ellison, Democrat of Minnesota, the first Muslim elected to Congress, on the effects of the attacks on America, the museum said.

I have one to add to your montage:
