John Kasich Wants You to Know He's Still Running

No, seriously, guys… Did you know John Kasich was still in the running for president?

It’s true!

Today he even commented on the others involved in the race as being “not worthy” of the presidency. How Kasich defines “worthy” is up for interpretation.

Kasich is still pushing the narrative he’s crafted of himself as the “kinder, gentler” answer to the pugnacious tenor that has beset this primary season. Of course, Kasich’s entry to the race last Summer saw him come across as this perpetually annoyed, nasty guy.

But he’s a changed man. Or something.

“I’ve stood on a stage and watched with amazement as candidates wallowed in the mud, viciously attack one another, called each other liars and disparaged each other’s character. Those who continuously push that type of behavior are not worthy of the office they are seeking.”

Then again, kindly Uncle John may have a different opinion of what constitutes bad behavior than the rest of us. At the very least, could he be consistent?

Calling someone a “liar,” making claims about their behavior, then admitting you’re speaking without knowledge to back up what you say, all seem like bad behavior to me, but then, as the self-proclaimed “Prince of Light and Hope,” Governor Kasich may be operating under a different standard.

At this point in the race and with only his home state of Ohio under his belt as a win, Kasich actually falls behind Senator Marco Rubio, who suspended his campaign last month, in delegate count. He still feels, however, that his steadfast refusal to bow out can be parlayed into the nomination, in the event of a contested convention.

Am I the only one that gets the impression of John Kasich sitting in his office, staring at a poster on his wall of a frog, halfway down a crane’s gullet, but desperately grasping the bird’s throat, with the caption, “Never give up” scrawled across the bottom?
