Trump Knows Nothing About the World

As if rational voters needed further proof of just how woefully unprepared Donald Trump is for the presidency, he is now giving his opinion on some of the most dangerous places in the world.

Oakland, California and Ferguson, Missouri, to be exact.

Via the Washington Examiner:

The presumed Republican presidential nominee at first answered jokingly, “Brooklyn,” when asked in a New York Times interview about the most dangerous place he’s ever visited.

Then he said, more seriously, “No, there are places in America that are among the most dangerous in the world. You go to places like Oakland. Or Ferguson. The crime numbers are worse. Seriously.”

Admittedly, there are areas in the U.S. that are crime-ridden and strongholds to violent gangs. We also know the chaos that erupted in Ferguson in 2014, after police officer Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown.

Would these areas rightly be lumped in with the “most violent” in the world?

Questionable.

When all of the Middle East is a tinderbox, it becomes a tough sale to claim any place in the U.S. as ranking amongst the most dangerous.

Also in the interview, published Wednesday, Trump said he’s “Never!” been to Iraq, but allegedly was horrified by the thought.

I remember President George W. Bush making a surprise visit to troops in Baghdad, Iraq, during the height of the Iraq war, in order to spend Thanksgiving with them.

It was the first such visit by a sitting U.S. president in history, and was done at great risk to his own safety.

So much for compassionate, involved leadership.
