White House Correspondents Not Happy About Possibly Being Evicted From the White House

The members of the White House press corps have no intention of just being pushed aside.

The White House Correspondents’ Association president, Jeff Mason, responded to an earlier report that the Trump administration may be considering moving them out of their normal setting within the White House.

Mason’s intentions are to meet with incoming press secretary, Sean Spicer, to clarify remarks made earlier that suggesting that the press corps would be moved to the White House Conference Center or the Old Executive Office Building.

“The briefing room is open now to all reporters who request access. We support that and always will. The WHCA will fight to keep the briefing room and West Wing access to senior administration officials open,” he said in the statement.

“We object strenuously to any move that would shield the president and his advisers from the scrutiny of an on-site White House press corps.”

Trump’s love-hate relationship with the press is complicated.

Trump’s unhinged manner makes for ratings and sells print, but even as he has benefited greatly from the press, he still presents them as enemies to the public.

Spicer insists the only talk of moving them is centered around providing more room, to give a greater number of reporters access to the president.

“There has been no decision,” said Spicer on Sunday, adding “there has been some discussion about how to do it.”

Prediction: Trump will keep the press in their normal area, but will only give access to Fox News, Breitbart, Drudge, and the National Enquirer.
