He’s said several times that Hillary Clinton is “good people” and he has no intentions of investigating her further or having her locked up.

Trump’s devotees hear everything he says through the filter of their adoration, however, so they still believe he’s going to “lock her up.”

During Trump’s speech at CPAC today, as Trump further pimped what he hopes to be the legend of his political conquests, he mentioned Hillary Clinton and the fresh calls of “Lock her up!” began.

The cries came after Trump briefly mentioned Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton‘s comments describing his supporters as a “basket of deplorables.”

The crowd booed and quickly began chants of “lock her up!” that were ubiquitous for a time during the presidential race.

Trump stood silently as the chants ensued, then resumed speaking.

“That’s the problem in politics. One wrong word and it’s over. She also said you’re irredeemable, but we won’t mention it,” Trump said.

Then he transitioned to declaring: “The GOP will be from now on the party also of the American worker.”

Trump had insisted during the run up to the election that Clinton should be investigated and locked up for her email server scandal.

Once he had won, however, he very quickly walked back those comments, saying that the Clintons were good people, and he didn’t want to hurt them, any further.

Asked by The New York Times in late November if he had ruled out prosecuting Clinton, Trump said: “It’s just not something that I feel strongly about.”

“I don’t want to hurt the Clintons, I really don’t. She went through a lot and suffered greatly in many different ways,” he said.

He probably should have mentioned that again, today. His people need to be reminded.
