TN State Rep: “You have to lift up their skirts to see if they’re women.”

Democrats hate women.

Rep. Janis Baird Sontany (D-53) said of female Republican state legislators, “You have to lift their skirts to find out if they are women.  You sure can’t find out by how they vote!”

…Because all women are supposed to vote the same way? So much for thinking for yourselves and letting women make “choices.” It’s like pretending that all black people are the same. Oh but wait, they do that too. TN State Rep. Janis Baird Sontany has decided that if you are a women, there’s a checklist you’ve got to complete to be considered a woman. Don’t have the votes? Clearly you’re a gender traitor.

Liberals and feminists have decided that conservative women are some sort of subspecies of woman, and are doing everything they can to justify their revolting mindset. Even when they work to conceal it, things like this spill out, and they’ve exposed themselves over and over again. Like the saying goes, ugly is to the bone. To me this sounds like it was supposed to be a joke or something; no word from the source on whether or not people laughed.

Sexism exists, and the worst attacks on women come from other women – the misogynists that parade around under the veil of “feminism.” They’ve outlined the Pillars of Womanhood, and apparently they include being pro-abortion and perpetual victimhood. If you don’t meet those criteria, your gender is clearly up for debate.

Then, the only way to validate your gender is to expose your girly bits and prove it.

Liberal. Sexist. Pigs.

I don’t get the woman-on-woman hate that feminists are spewing towards women. Tabitha gets it right. They view us as a sub-species that doesn’t have the right to make our own decisions.

They fought to give us equality with men, but replaced that “oppression” with their own hatred and attacks to only hold opinions that align with the Democratic party. Their grip on telling women what to think and do is over. Women are rebelling.

I think it’s time to overthrow the matriarchy. I’m sick of this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, of course – but I was under the impression that liberals favored treating gender identity as a civil rights issue, and endorsed the notion that an individual could define one’s own gender as one saw fit. These comments of Baird seem to tramp all over *that* notion.

Ah, well, hypocrisy from a Democrat. Imagine my surprise.

but the quality I most associate with women, whether mothers or not, is a fierce maternal protective instinct combined with a nurturing instinct. Pro-life seems to fits right in there. Anti-life, maybe not so much.

have been brought up to favor the democrat party as being more supportive of them and their needs. The more the impact of today’s policies will affect women becomes known some women my change their perceptions.

As a mother of a boy, I get tired of men being put down or made to look stupid/aggressive/useless in TV/media. You’ll notice in a lot of commercials the guys are either portrayed as lazy or stupid or both, and then a woman comes and saves the day.

      Do feminists not have sons?

      • Christine (Trelaina)

I am a mother of two boys and it’s amazing to me how men are portrayed on TV. Luckily we don’t watch a lot of network TV so my boys aren’t impacted yet, but it’s only a matter of time.

        • edintexas

A TV “diet” of History Channel, History International, Discovery, FNC and – especially – The Military Channel et al will take care of that problem. They aren’t perfect (even the Military channel – someone on DirecTV insists on writing up the Spad (A1 Skyraider) as a Navy “Jet” aircraft), but they are far, far better than the various Democrat networks for young skulls – and old.

      • Read Chesterton

After forty years, they are still claiming women only earn 70 cents for every dollar men earn. Forty years! You’d think, just to remain credible, they’d revise the canard upward by five or ten cents.

        • earlgrey

As a woman, my perspective has changed considerably since entering the work force, but there are some reasons why in some cases men make more than wormen in the same profession– taking time off for child baearing, men are more likely to ask for more money before accepting a position, etc.

I think it would be interesting to look at the whole picture. I am constantly hearing how men are losing their jobs more than women in this recession. Why is that? If that is true that men are more likey to lose their jobs (is it because of job types or because they have higher salaries), than shouldn’t we also be discussing that?

    • 4life

as a female who thinks it’s ok to kill her children is so inside out. The protective instinct runs so deep, I really can’t believe how messed up liberals are on this issue. And the fact that it is a central issue for them is just mind boggling. Someone should do a psychological study on liberals and their demented view of womanhood. It has to be some kind of phychosis.

      • stephaniet

I’ve read testimonials from women who went to get abortions, but walked into the Crisis Pregnancy Center right next door to the clinic in what turned out to be a glorious “mistake.” The stories go on to say how the clinics give them free ultrasounds to let them see their little one, and when they see their baby, that maternal instinct pops up and they decide to carry the child to term. It’s amazing. I don’t think you can eradicate that mindset from females. Any woman with half a brain is going to recognize her own distinct necessity to protect her progeny.

Any woman who doesn’t must have something wrong indeed with her brain, because I bet the maternal protection thing is genetically encoded in our female psyches.

        • 4life

clinics don’t do ultrasounds first. It would cut deeply into their profits. That is also why they continue to insist that it is just a ‘mass of tissue’. Most women, in order to do the unthinkable and fatally injur their own progeny, must deny the truth that an abortion is stopping a beating heart. That is why eventually we will win this war. Can you imagine the result if abortion clinics were required to provide full disclosure? “Sign here to acknowledge the fact that you are undergoing a procedure that will end the life of your developing baby, that if left alone will in fact and in the normal coarse of events become your, or in the event of adoption another couple’s, child. We will – and here the procedure will be described in detail a.), b.), c.), etc…..” Instead, when women enter an abortion clinic, every effort is made to distort and deny the true facts. Why? Because the natural protective instinct is so strong. Of course, some will put self over child still, and then go on to fight the pro-abortion fight in order to justify their selfishness.

What amazes me is that these pro-abortion people are allowed to claim that they are more ‘caring’ than the pro-life crowd. They get away with it is because the media is on their side. But I truly believe the tide is turning, and ultrasound has alot to do with it. As they say ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’.

towards other women. That’s more true if they’re left-leaning but it is also true of many nominally conservative women. They play life and career advancement as a zero-sum game in which they can only get ahead by pulling someone else back and often the end justifies the means. I know that the only thing that would ever get my female subordinates, all high-powered, politically ambitious types, away from each others’ throats was if I or another man came to be at odds with one of them; then they’d instantly unite in opposition to the man. One day they hated you and the next some of them would be trying to trip you and beat you to the ground; so long as they saw a way to hold that “fall” over your head.

But the wymyn have no monopoly on litmus tests and skirt lifting. It ain’t like we here don’t have almost daily trials by fire, water, or combat to determine who is conservative enough, faithful enough, optimistic enough.

that you knew, they must have all been fighting/vying for your attentions. Traditionally, women have been the sex that wear long fingernails, that can be effective weapons, sometimes more effective than pepper spray.

Now, having said that, Ferrara was credited for cracking the glass ceiling for women in high US politics. Since that time, about a hundred years ago, Hillary sought the title of first female president in 2008, but, the “real” first black dude ruled the day(or was that those crazy white dudes Axelrod or/and Emanuel, I don’t know for sure). Point is, women have not had a seat at the table, or not many seats, in American political life which has been populated by a majority of male political animals. That is, until only relatively recently.

There is a much longer history of astoundingly vicious political men. I’m thinking of Charlie Crist (as a more recent example)just off the top of my head. Then again, I think you have too lift up his skirt to make sure he hasn’t had a sex change operation, and got injections of those “vicious hormones” that are only reserved for the female population. Come to think of it, I think the O can fit in their just as easily.

      • Achance

The whole point was how women in politics treat each other and that it doesn’t necesarily happen only with lefty women.

I don’t know how it is wherever you are, but in government and politics women here have had a seat at the table pretty much since Statehood, holding elected an appointed offices in large numbers. In fact, the infrastructure functions of State government, the pople who control the money, people, and stuff, are practically a matriarchy, e.g., the Commissioner of Administration, one Deputy Commissioner of Admin, the Directors of the divisions of Finance and Personnel are female, the prior director of Retirement and Benefits was female, and the last several directors of the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget were females. I had a female Deputy who succeeded me when I retired.

Interestingly, the Democrat Knowles Administration was much more male dominated that the Republican Murkowski and Palin/Parnell Administrations. Likewise, the nominally Republican Hickel Administration had a female Commissioner of Administration.

And, no, they weren’t vying for my attention, they were vying for their advantage.

I guess because your comment was on a diary that pointed out pointy sticks between women, you added that the women you have known in politics all seemed to be vicious and malicious. I simply pointed out that the male species also, and for a longer time in history, have had their own pointy sticks as well.

and try to downgrade any poster, it is a sign of something akin to being a bully, or, trying to drive interest to their post. You talk your main intent in the body of the post, but, as most bully’s do, make it headline news with the title alone, just to get readers to the story. You know, I fall prey to some headlines at times, in the news around the web, but, often times the headline falls short of what the author has to say. I feel like I’ve been had when I fall prey to those purposely inciteful/seemingly frank statement against the O, which say nothing more than everyone knows.

In highschool, in the 60′s, I had a teacher that begged the students, that if you don’t read the newspaper, at least read the titles of articles. That was when titles of articles still had a semblence of credibility.

…when men looked masculine, not girly, and women looked feminine and naturally beautiful, not macho.

And by “feminine,” I don’t mean dressing like June Cleaver, with the house dress and pearls and pumps. I mean not dressing like hookers, and practicing the lost art of using modesty to be quietly alluring.

          • Achance

I should have learned long ago during all the Palin stuff that keystrokes are wasted on you. I made no comparison to men, I didn’t even mention men; that was your little off point contribution. I merely remarked that IN MY EXPERIENCE women in politics were vicious towards other women and it didn’t much matter about the left or right part. End of that part of the story.

As to their relations with men, most women in politics either want to kill you and take your job or screw you and take your job; you pick it. An honorable woman is a rare, precious, and beautiful thing.

  • pamela1631

Is pretty high on this one.

Oh gee, a new voting requirement..
See the Gyn first to prove your female, get your pre-marked ballot.

It’s torqued me off for years that some women expect other women to fall in lock step with certain philosophies, act in certain ways in order to get ahead, vote in certain ways because we are women.

Last I looked, I was an individual and not part of a rabid pack trying to destroy the future.

I wouldn’t put “You must be examined before you can vote” past these femisogynists… hence the ewww factor.

Feminism has always been about promoting leftist politics, and never about advancing women’s rights. And leftists don’t believe that any member of the ‘oppressed class’ that they are supposedly defending has a legitimate right to dissent from the established party line.

    • lineholder

Heaven forbid that a person should actually choose to rise above the bonds of a force of oppression to live a life that is happy, productive, etc. We aren’t supposed to do that, are we? We aren’t even supposed to have those kinds of ideas, much less to strive to live a life of our own making.

I couldn’t go around with a victimized “poor me” mindset every minute of the day if I wanted to. I like life too much!!!

  • johnt

But the idea, held by a grown up, that your sex determines how you vote is numbingly stupid, a form of determinism at it’s most vulgar. Are we approaching a period of mass idiocy?

What’s the Buckley quote? Something about how liberals talk about being openminded about opposing opinions, and then are astounded to discover that opposing opinions exist.

i doubt there is a prominent female conservative who hasn’t had her gender questioned, simply because she holds views contrary to those held be liberals…because the liberals have a hard time believing that anyone could, in good faith, dissent from cherished liberal dogmas.

Which is not to say that Rep Sontany’s comment is not offensive. It is. It’s also pitiable, because reality has a way of catching up with people who think that way. Here’s hoping reality catches up with her at the ballot box next election.

  • gigi36b

the precept that a feminist is only concerned with another woman’s uterus. They chant the “it’s my body” slogan, yet they are preoccupied with everyone else’s reproductive plumbing. Janis gives herself away with the desire to personally inspect the plumbing before hearing anything a woman wants to say.

Feminists are the last people who associate a brain with a woman. The fact that they seem to have lost their own cerebral connections explains everything.

    • stephaniet

I don’t want her seeing my plumbing, and I DEFINITELY don’t want to see hers!!

  • TxTess

Those of us who are conservative men and women were raised to use the brain God gave us. We gather information and make up our OWN minds.

    • stephaniet

I doubt these libtards know how to even spell “brain.”

  • MF

Divide and conquer. Marginalize. Group people together, and get them all to vote as they have been instructed. Don’t actually think for yourself; we’ll do that for you.

They think all women should be pro-choice, which automatically means liberal. They want all blacks to be kept down, so they are dependent on handouts, and thus, liberal. All union people “must” vote for Democrats, because Democrats always support unions regardless of what’s best for the whole. (Oh, and watch out for your SEIU “brothers” if you don’t.)

Now they are trying that with the illegal immigrants. They are already down, so they would automatically vote for the handouts that the Democrats give them. Thus, make as many as possible legal and get them voting.

who has to crawl through the swamp to come up with such a comment!!
I wish the progressive women(?) if they are women would leave our “Gladiator Gals” alone. They have no idea what it is to be truly a “woman”.
Gladiator according to dictionary; n. literally a swordsman; a combatant who fought in the arena; one involved in a fight (L. gladius, a sword)
Those who have stepped into the arena with our “Gals” have gotten their “butts” beat. So go ahead on Janis step right in there!
      “Gladiator Gals”
      Sarah Palin
      Michelle Bachman
      Nikki Haley
      plus many, many more!
