Union Bosses Demand Nuclear Option On Obama’s Flawed NLRB & Labor Nominations
By: LaborUnionReport (Diary) | May 15th at 11:30 PM |
As surely as union bosses want a union-friendly NLRB and Department of Labor to be fully operational, short-sighted Democrats must also realize that political winds shift (see above-referenced scandals)–just as they did in 1980, when unions represented 25% of the workforce (and 1947 and 1959 before that).

The Fearless Ted Cruz
By: Brad Jackson (Diary) | May 7th at 10:00 AM |
On today’s edition of Coffee and Markets, Brad Jackson and Ben Domenech are joined by Senator Ted Cruz back to discuss the online sales tax bill that passed the Senate this week, the battle on Capitol Hill over immigration reform and the movement to draft Ted Cruz for a 2016 White House run.

They Wouldn’t Act This Way If Ted Cruz Weren’t Putting Points on the Board
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | May 6th at 08:51 PM |
The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board is upset with Ted Cruz for leading a filibuster against gun control. John McCain tweeted out the Journal’s editorial in a moment of wackiness. Bill Richardson, the scandal plagued former Governor of New Mexico, says Ted Cruz can’t be called hispanic despite being hispanic because Ted Cruz isn’t a race baiter like Richardson. And now Harry Reid calls Ted | Read More »
Republicans and Democrats in Washington Conspire to Exempt Themselves from Obamacare
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | April 25th at 04:30 AM |
If this happens, the nation needs to collectively march on Washington, DC, burn it to the ground, and spread salt over the ground. According to the Politico, in super secret “high-level, confidential talks”, Harry Reid, John Boehner, the Obama administration, and other lawmakers are working to exempt themselves and their staffs from Obamacare. They want to rush it through, probably sneaking it through on some | Read More »
Harry Reid will be pulling the gun control bill on Thursday.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 17th at 09:21 PM |
First noted on Twitter (via Hot Air): Reid will pull the entire gun bill from floor, likely tomorrow. No final vote. It will remain on leg calendar. Brought up some other time. — Paul Kane (@pkcapitol) April 17, 2013 …and the NYT pretty much confirms.
Taxes, Guns, and Chuck Schumer as GOP Leader
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | April 10th at 01:59 PM |
Until recently, taxes and guns were the two issues that served as the glue to bind together Republicans of all stripes. They were the two issues that even feckless elected-Republicans could be counted on to hold the line and stand with conservatives. But over the past few years, Obama and the Democrats have gotten Republicans to break their impervious opposition to tax increases by supporting | Read More »
EXCLUSIVE: McConnell to Filibuster Reid Gun Control Bill
By: Ben Howe (Diary) | April 8th at 05:09 PM |
Senator Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has confirmed he will filibuster new gun control legislation, spokesman Brian McGuire confirmed for me today. While nobody knows yet what Senator Reid’s plan is for the gun bill, if he chooses to file cloture on the motion to proceed to the Reid Bill (S. 649), Senator McConnell will oppose cloture on proceeding to that bill. The future of the | Read More »
Elective Despotism and the Second Amendment
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | April 5th at 05:30 AM |
Yesterday, the Maryland state legislature voted to infringe upon my Second Amendment rights. In a state already riddled with violent crime despite (or rather because of) some of the strictest gun laws, law-abiding citizens have no recourse. Under the new law, hundreds of guns would be banned, high capacity magazines would be prohibited, all gun owners would have to submit to finger printing, and state | Read More »
Beware the gun tax
By: John Hayward | April 2nd at 11:08 AM |
David Addington at the Heritage Foundation reports on a little something-something slipped into the rough beast of gun control laws slouching toward the Senate to be born, courtesy of majority leader Harry Reid: Title I of the Reid gun control bill purports to “fix gun checks.” The proposed “fix” in section 122 of S. 649 is to take away an individual’s right to sell or | Read More »
The Sky is Blue, The Water is Wet, Harry Reid is Utterly Detestable
By: Repair_Man_Jack (Diary) | March 21st at 01:00 PM |
If Senator John McCain were a tad less senile, Senator Harry Reid would be a biological wonder of a living, breathing man. That second rectal orifice he’d be sporting would truly make him unique amongst the human herd. Seven US Marines died Tuesday during a live fire accident in the State of Nevada. Harry Reid rose in the well of the Senate to express his condolences. If only he had stopped there and yielded to the Gentleman or Gentlelady from someplace else the balance of his time.
But no, zipping the soup cooler is not a job skill common amongst US Senators of any era. Harry Reid does what Harry Reid always does and decided to mine this tragic event for a good political spin. Harry Reid’s use of seven dead Marines for Sequestration Porn follows below.
Mr. President, it’s very important we continue training our military, so important. But one of the things in sequester is we cut back in training and maintenance. That’s the way sequester was written…. These men and women, our Marines were training there in Hawthorne. And with this sequester, it’s going to cut back. I just hope everyone understands the sacrifices made by our military.

Tech at Night: As usual, Republicans are right and Democrats have an alternate agenda in the Senate
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | March 9th at 02:30 AM |

A lot of conservatives seem to be getting behind a Hatch-Rubio bill to increase immigration for skilled individuals. No wonder Harry Reid wants to block it for partisan reasons. Have to put politics over anything else. Can’t let Republicans do a good thing.
Though I think the Senate priorities are pretty messed up. Jay Rockefeller is talking about workforce standards in the context of cybersecurity legislation. Talk about using any excuse to grow government. At least guys like John Thune recognize the need for the government and private business to work together against foreign Internet threats.
I mean, we can’t rely solely on NSA doing its best to do the right thing on its own.

Senate Democrats, please listen carefully to the New York Times
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | February 1st at 04:45 PM |
I have made my debut at Fox News with a column on FoxNews.com encouraging the Democrats to listen to the New York Times Editorial Board. I think they really should. I think they should try to do exactly as the New York Times commands. You can see why here.
Harry Reid… does not *cave* on the filibuster. Rather, he *disengages*.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | January 24th at 11:00 PM |
So, the big news today is that Harry Reid apparently voluntarily spit out some of his fangs on the filibuster. They’re modifying the rules to give the minority party a bit more input in the process: …the deal Reid struck with McConnell doesn’t end the filibuster against the motion to proceed. Rather, it creates two new pathways for moving to a new bill. In one, | Read More »
Stop the Reid/McConnell Filibuster Deform
By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary) | January 24th at 03:02 PM |
Update*** Less than 8 hours after unveiling these drastic changes, Reid shoved them through with overwhelming Republican support. The elimination of the filibuster on motion to proceed passed 78-16 and the changes to proceeding with conference committees passed 86-9. Obama is already touting this as an opportunity to pass amnesty and gun control. Good going Republicans. Special thanks to Senators Cruz, Johnson, Lee, Paul, Rubio, | Read More »
Tech at Night: Netflix proves me right on Net Neutrality. DoJ on Swartz.
By: Neil Stevens (Diary) | January 19th at 02:30 AM |

Remember when they told you Net Neutrality was needed? Remember when we said it was really about favoring online firms over telecoms? Told you so, told you so, told you so. Netflix now blocking select ISPs, trying to use market power in order to bully their way to sweetheart bandwidth deals, knowing ISPs can’t fight back under Net Neut regs, aka the Open Internet order.
PS Told you so.
It remains ridiculous that the Aaron Swarz suicide continues be politicized to the point that we’re putting innocent prosecutors under pressure, pressure that defies cross-examination due to the death of the key witness.
