Let us not say “Au Revoir,” Russ Carnahan.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 7th at 11:31 PM |
Let us instead say,”Good-bye.” The local CBS affiliate called Missouri’s First District Democratic primary race for William Lacy Clay, and I don’t think anybody can really dispute it. Which is a tragedy, for it means that I can no longer use this photo: As God is my witness, this is not a Photoshop. Open thread for election results. Moe Lane
MO Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) cuts and runs.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | September 30th at 05:30 PM |
It’s official: the last remaining ostensibly politically viable member of the once-powerful Carnahan dynasty has decided to not seek a third term. I say ‘ostensibly’ because it was actually unclear that Robin Carnahan was ever going to recover from her humiliating shellacking at the hands of Roy Blunt in last year’s MO-SEN race (13 points is pretty bad). And I say ‘last remaining’ because her | Read More »
Missouri GOP, African-Americans kill Russ Carnahan’s seat.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | May 5th at 04:00 PM |
This could very well be the prettiest redistricting map that you’re going to see this cycle: You see, Missouri is in an interesting place where the state is: losing a Congressional seat; just coming off an election cycle where they flipped a seat to the GOP (making the current ratio 6 GOP / 3 DEM); and in possession of an almost veto-proof Republican legislature. So, | Read More »
Missouri redistricting hurts Russ Carnahan.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | March 30th at 10:31 PM |
The below is being floated as a potential redistricting map for Missouri: I’ll summarize the changes as follows: Missouri loses a district, thanks to the 2010 Census. On the Republican side, Vicki Hartzler is liking this map least: she had some R areas taken away from her and given to Emanuel Cleaver, and has been given some D areas from Luetkemeyer. On the other hand, | Read More »
Could the Missouri Carnahan dynasty be at an end?
By: Bill S (Diary) | November 8th at 08:00 AM |
It’s been a good week to be a Republican in Missouri. Senator-elect Roy Blunt soundly defeated MO Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, beating her by 13 percentage points statewide, and winning every county in Missouri except St. Louis (city and county) and Jackson (Kansas City). Republican candidates scored wins in most parts of the state except the Democrat strongholds mentioned above, where incumbents such as | Read More »
“All Catholics Are Pedophiles” — The Democrats’ Closing Argument
By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | October 22nd at 11:00 AM |
This is not the first time the Democrats have gone this route in this election season. This may, however, be the most desperate attempt. And where Democrats are doing this in multiple places around the country, we can be sure they have hit on this as a theme within their world view. The theme, of course, being that all Catholics are pedophiles. This time, in | Read More »
Connecting the dots on the Missouri wind farm payoff.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | October 7th at 08:00 PM |
The video is largely self-explanatory, but here is the time-line, with links. Tom Carnahan owns a company called Wind Capital Group, which (unsurprisingly) produces wind energy. Wind power is a type of alternate energy beloved of environmental fundamentalists except when it’s in sight of private Nantucket compounds, or controlled by Native Americans. Although this might change, as the motivating/indulging force in each case died last | Read More »
Poor Russ Carnahan
By: Brian Simpson (Diary) | September 25th at 10:00 AM |
You can really tell that Russ Carnahan desperately wants to be seen as a smart man. Why else would he speak so forcefully about a topic without knowing much about it. That’s exactly what he did in his debate against Ed Martin. Carnahan attempted to gain some political points against Martin by railing against Social Security privatization, tying his wisdom to the drop in the | Read More »
Talking Points Memo denies role in Carnahan firebombing.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 26th at 03:30 PM |
For those not following this story: last week a campaign office of Russ Carnahan* (D, MO-03) was firebombed by an officially unknown assailant. A suspect was arrested and subsequently quickly released. This development, coupled with the odious nature of the attack itself, led to both widespread concern and widespread condemnation among the right-side of the blogosphere (including RedState)… but, curiously, not notably among the left-side. | Read More »
Carnahan firebombing an internal attack?
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 25th at 01:00 PM |
Last week RedState noted – and condemned – what was suspected to be a politically-motivated firebombing of a Democratic congressman’s office. In addition to being concerned about the idea of Molotov cocktails being added to American political discourse, we here were also concerned at the media blackout apparently being put on the incident – even though an arrest had been made. There were, of course, | Read More »
Meet Ed Martin (R CAND, MO-03).
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 23rd at 08:00 PM |
Ed is running against Russ “Yes, he really does look like that” Carnahan, who is mostly known (publicly) for his last name and (privately) for his growing disinterest in keeping the job. I’m not being cute, here: I’ve heard from several different Missouri political types that Russ Carnahan doesn’t even really want to be a Congressman anymore… which is kind of fortuitous, because Ed Martin | Read More »
Where Is Your Congressman?
By: Brian Darling (Diary) | August 21st at 09:00 AM |
Heritage Action for America has a very funny new video out featuring actor Clint Howard titled “August Recess Excuses.” Many Congressman are not holding Town Hall meetings this August. The video shows what must be happening behind closed doors with members who are trying to avoid any embarrassing public meetings. Some great examples of why Senators and House members are avoiding Town Hall meetings are below: Senator | Read More »

Somebody tried to set Russ Carnahan’s office on fire.
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | August 20th at 03:15 PM |
If you are surprised to hear this, yes, well, it was a surprise for me too. It happened last weekend, in fact. Somebody threw an incendiary device in Carnahan’s office causing (thankfully) only minor damage: there was an arrest, but the guy was apparently let go. And… that’s pretty much everything that’s known about the situation. If that sounds odd to you, you’re not the | Read More »
Soros-funded Missouri SoS Robin Carnahan needs to be trampled in Senate race
By: ladyimpactohio (Diary) | August 9th at 10:00 PM |
Promoted from the diaries Here we go. The words George Soros again. First just a few sentences on background is needed. Several months ago I did an expose on George Soros corrupt Secretary of State Project. After Florida SoS Katherine Harris placed GWB into the Oval Office in 2000 Soros didn’t like it much, to say it mildly, that his candidate wasn’t elected POTUS. So | Read More »

“My name is RUSS CARNAHAN, Congressman!”
By: Moe Lane (Diary) | April 15th at 12:00 PM |
* “…which I don’t pay taxes on!” As Americans prepare to file and pay their taxes, it’s come to light that Rep. Russ Carnahan may be skimping on his. The Congressman avoids paying personal property taxes on his 42-foot yacht by docking it in Alton, Illinois instead of his hometown. “Illinois does not have a statewide property tax. Property is taxed on the local level | Read More »
