THE 4TH OF JULY IN SAMARRA, IRAQ

Posted at 8:43am on Jun. 20, 2008 In Which A Haditha Marine Considers How *Best* To Show Murtha His Appreciation For All That Troop Support

By haystack

An interesting development with one of the exonerated Marines in the Haditha mess Jack Murtha and Time Magazine's Tim McGuirk created not so long ago has bubbled up...the highest ranking officer accused is considering suing them:

With most of the eight Marines charged in the Haditha, Iraq, incident now exonerated, the highest-ranking officer among the accused is considering a lawsuit against Democratic Rep. John Murtha, who fueled the case by declaring the men cold-blooded killers.

In an interview with nationally syndicated radio talk host Michael Savage, the lead attorney for Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani said he and his client will look into suing Murtha and the Time magazine reporter, Tim McGuirk, who first published the accusations by Iraqi insurgents.

As lawsuits go, THIS is one I would thoroughly enjoy watching. I can think of no better example of giving back to the anti-war Democrats a little of that "support" we keep hearing so much about. All that distortion, misrepresentation, and shrill rhetoric comes at a real cost to the Soldiers actually doing the heavy lifting for us in Iraq and I would LOVE to see them hold Murtha and his ilk accountable for their actions and their words.

The rest below the fold...

"CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - The Marine Corps dropped its case and gave full immunity Friday to a serviceman who was accused of involuntary manslaughter in a squad's killing of 24 Iraqis in Haditha in 2005."

Never was there a greater urge to war from the left than that bloodlust they shared for the Marines involved in the Haditha incident. EX-Marine Jack Murtha in particular went after his onetime brothers with cold-blooded indifference.

Redstater C17Wife wonders when the apology is coming. Me too.

On Saturday pro-Marine demonstrators, mainly from Eagles Up and Patriot Guard, roared into Berkeley for a day of reason, prayer, the Marines Hymn, and the National Anthem. In other words, four things brand new to the "town".

The group of mostly bikers have the distinction of holding the parade with the least leather and fewest chaps in the town's history. (Via Gateway Pundit)

Posted at 11:36am on Feb. 2, 2008 To answer Bob (and Glenn's) question...

And it's a heck of a thing that it even has to be asked.

By Moe Lane

...the question being, "Will the media ask Senators Obama and Clinton about Berkeley's insult to the United States Marine Corps:" the answer almost certainly will be "no." (Background info here) [UPDATE: They probably won't ask if either Senator supports Senator DeMint's proposal, either.] [UPDATE: And more here. Quite the collection of petulant man-children these Obamaniacs are turning out to be, huh?] [UPDATE]: And, in the credit-where-it's-due category, both have already indicated that they'll be enforcing the Solomon Amendment. So they've got no reason not to condemn this outrageous attack on our military, yes?]

This is more of an indictment of the media than it is of the Senators in question, who would probably respond that they aren't in the habit of volunteering to throw rocks at hornet nests. Still, it's a pity that Senator Clinton won't address this particular insult; she has less of an excuse than Senator Obama, who after all just scored an endorsement from a group whose hardcore members default to hating Marines.

Those wishing to dispute that point are welcome to provide me with a formal statement by MoveOn.org forcefully condemning the actions of Code Pink against the Marine recruiting office in Berkeley, CA. I will put that statement on the front page. I will gleefully put that statement on the front page, with as many eye-catching HTML bells and whistles that I can figure out. I will even alert about ten or so of the other top right-wing bloggers, who will probably also just as gleefully put that statement on their front pages as well.

You may wish to contemplate the implications of that.

Posted at 3:44pm on Feb. 1, 2008 Code Pink owns Berkeley, California. "The U.S. Marines must go!"

They start with a parking space.

By Mark Kilmer

For a moment's diversion, we'll contemplate the lovely ville of Berkeley, California. The city council of this quaint town for carriers of outmoded political though do not care for what the United States Marines do in keeping Moslem extremists and the battalions of the PRC off their turf, so this city council has voted to give away the parking space in front of the Marine's recruiting office to the paranormal, sociopathic Code Pink organization:

Having failed in recent years to impeach President Bush and stop the war in Afghanistan, members of the City Council approved a resolution that encourages people to nonviolently “impede, passively or actively,” the work of the recruiters.

To that end, the council awarded the group, Code Pink, exclusive use of the parking spot for four hours one afternoon each week, for the next six months, to stage its protests. “If you’re going to join the Marines, you’re going to join the Marines,” said Zanna Joi, an activist with Code Pink, which favors cotton-candy-colored garb and in-your-face tactics. “But you don’t have to join the Marines from our town.”

They're also looking for a legal method to eject the Marines from their strange city.

Oh, it's not going to happen, and America fights back against this kind of thing. Read On…

Oh my goodness, Moe. Someone posted the lawyer's contact information at the first comment on that link you gave. This is terrible. Someone might now go key his car!
