By Mark I

Thursday’s Supreme Court ruling in the consolidated cases of Boumediene v. Bush and Al-Odah v. United States for the first time grants foreign-born enemy combatants of the United States, captured on the battlefield in the process of planning or participating in attacks against U.S. targets, the right to challenge the circumstances of their detention in federal court. It is difficult to overestimate the impact that this ruling will have on the prosecution of the war on terror and, indeed, all future armed conflicts. The specter of American troops Mirandizing enemy combatants on the battlefield, or being called back from the front to testify in civilian court about the manner that a prisoner was captured, and the practical impossibility each of those outcomes would present to the U.S. military, should trouble every American who is concerned about the nation’s safety.

President Bush, reacting almost immediately to the Court’s decision, said that his Administration, “would abide,” with the ruling, adding, “That doesn’t mean I have to agree with it.” He spoke too soon, and did not go far enough. For the reasons cited above, and others, he should ignore this decision of the Court, and continue to apply the Military Commissions Act of 2006 as duly passed into law by Congress.

Posted at 11:53am on Jun. 14, 2008 Why Do Prominent Tennessee Democrats Think Obama Has Terrorist Ties?

By Erick

You know, if Tennessee Democrats think Obama has terrorist ties, what are independent voters going to think?

Fred Hobbs, a state Democratic Party Executive Committee member representing part of Davis’ district, said he understands why Davis is not endorsing Obama and is “skeptical” of the Illinois senator himself.

“Maybe [it’s] the same reason I don’t want to — I don’t exactly approve of a lot of the things he stands for and I’m not sure we know enough about him,” Hobbs said when asked why he thought Davis wasn’t endorsing Obama. “He’s got some bad connections, and he may be terrorist connected for all I can tell. It sounds kind of like he may be.”

Even Representative Lincoln Davis's Chief of Staff is hesitant.

His chief of staff, Beecher Frasier, said he doesn’t know for sure if Obama is “terrorist connected” but he assumes he’s not.

Holy cow this year is going to be so much fun.

Harold Ford, Jr., by the way, has repudiated Beecher Frasier's statement (Frasier was Ford's campaign manager in 2006) and the Tennessee Democratic Party has smacked Hobbs.

But the damage is done.

Oh, and Obama does have ties to terrorist Bill Ayers and has ties to a number of people with very questionable backgrounds and affiliations.

Let's see how the anti-smear site handles this. I can't wait for them to classify Bill Ayers as anything but a terrorist.

Posted at 3:46pm on May 1, 2008 Terrorist Obama endorsers claim that "Jewish leaders planned the Holocaust to kill their disabled and handicapped"

Hey, at least they're admitting it happened at all, yes?

By Jeff Emanuel

Jewish leaders "planned the Holocaust to kill disabled and handicapped" Jews to avoid having to care for them, "says Hamas state television (yes, Condi, I'm sure they're just great people who want the same things we do -- and yes, Jimmy, I'm sure that this is the result of apartheid).

Last week, with the April 27 Holocaust Remembrance Day approaching, those lovers of peace (and of Barack Obama) who just want to be left alone by the murderously avaricious Jews to their north and west let fly their latest statement on that pesky little Holocaust that may or may not have taken place 60 years ago (hey, that's a lot of time, and facts get fuzzy after far less has passed -- besides, Bill Ayers hasn't tried to kill anybody in almost 40 years; after 50% longer time has gone by, shouldn't we be shutting up about that Holocaust thing and allowing that Hitler guy to be re-introduced into the cast of what Obama refers to as "respectable fixtures in mainstream liberal Chicago").

Aaaaaanywho, the Hamas State TV program, broadcast last week, called the Holocaust a "Zionist plot" with two goals:

  1. To eliminate "disabled and handicapped" Jews by sending them to death camps, so they would not be a burden on the future state of Israel.
  2. To make "the Jews seem persecuted" so they could "benefit from international sympathy."

Video of the Hamas TV segment is below the fold. Read on.
