Patriotism Is Cool

There is a strange disconnect in this country between its citizens and how our culture is depicted in the major media. Whether it’s on film or television, people who are patriotic always seem to be the ones who are made out to be fools, buffoons, uneducated or worse – evil.

For the past three years, I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to travel around this still great and wonderful nation, speaking to thousands of Americans of every flavor, and I can say without a doubt that the media is engaged in a big lie. Don’t fall for the lie; Patriots are actually cool.

The truth is, folks who love their country, support its traditions and foundations, and would fight to the end to preserve it, are the ones you want to hang with. And it’s never more clear than the Fourth of July when friends and families get a chance to drop what they’re doing, relax and have a little fun.

And it’s my guess that sometime during this holiday, whether it’s at a family picnic, a ballgame, a campground or just in the backyard playing with the kids, you will stop for a moment and thank your lucky stars that we get to be here, in the most freedom-loving, hard-working, benevolent country that ever existed.

I also know that lately you may have become concerned that the America you know and love is taking a turn for the worse and may not be so great for our kids and grandkids when they are in charge of filling the car with gas, buying the hot dogs or paying off the credit card at the end of July.

I’m Joe “The Plumber” Wurzelbacher and I’m running for Congress. Send me to Washington and I promise you I will let them know we want to stop the reckless running of our country, and put us back on track. I’ll fight for you Patriots and I won’t go back on my word once I get there.

    It’s a grand day today, isn’t it? Living in the land of the free and the home of the brave!

    I think you’re right, Mr. Joe the Plumber. The lefts’ mouthpiece, commonly known as the MSM, would like nothing better than to take recent events, use it against us….paint us as extremists simply because we see the worth of traditional values….paints us as being obstructionists simply because we have a sense of national patriotism (as compared to blind loyalty to “the cause” of the left)…

    I think they’d love to see us get dispirited…but they’re underestimating us though if they think we can be broken (in spirit) that easily.

    Obstructionists? (chuckling) If they think that’s being stubborn and obstinate…they haven’t seen nothing yet!!!

      Marriage is cultural tradition except when men are involved and then it is patrirachal servitude or if if is for gays, then it is a wonderul and sacred rite.

      Freedom of speech is protected by the First Amend. except when it asserts something not pol. correct and then it is hate speech, bullying, bigotry, and/or racism.

      Guns are evil, thus the 2nd Amend., unlike the First, can be ignored and attacked, tho’ all lefty bodyguards, esp. those around rap singers, carry guns and often prove their “manhoods” by shooting each other (when they are not throwing beer bottles in NYC bars).

      Perjury is a crime except in the cause of socialism or advancement of Islam, when members are forgiven lies made to infidels in order to advance the cause.

      Bigorty and racism are the worst crimes, but they are never committed by minorities who are powerless.

      Success is to be applauded, except when achieved by white males who are only successful by virtue of their white oppressive culture. And it is ok for minorities not to succeed because they should not try to be “white” or emulate the white middle class.

      Criticsm is often a way to improve ideas or performance except when directed at minorities who cannot be criticized because of their skin color.

      And “illegal” means “illegal” in the justice system except when applied to alien invaders who crossed Am. borders wthout sanction, and then illegals are a protected class under “immigration rights” that were invented by those socialists and Muslims who believe lying to advance themselves gets a cultural pass.

    I hope you make it to D.C., Mr. Wurzelbacher, are not ruined by the Labor Union/Democrat smear machine in northwestern Ohio, or by RINO’S in the Ohio Republican Party.

    You write most sensibly here, and patriotism has indeed been turned into something that according to leftists one should be embarrassed about.

    Leftists do not believe in the idea of a country with free people making free choices for good and for ill: therefore they are not really patriotic. They believe in controlling people because they are deeply fearful of Life and the chaos which Life can bring.

    Rather than facing the challenges, they believe that Science and “scientifically planned government” can reduce or eliminate the chaos of Life. They will use euphemisms of caring, but in fact their fear of your choices drives them to reduce or eliminate your Life choices.

    Patriotism is not something they can support or understand from their conceit of “scientism,” since patriotism is an emotional response to a life among free people who are happy and succeeding and willing to accept the happiness and success of their neighbors, rather than responding to Life with fear and envy and a pseudo-scientific desire to equalize everything.

    The smearing of patriotism by the Leftist Kulcher – from insidious movies like “A Few Good Men” to Colbert and Michael Moore – is one of their great successes in the post-Vietnam era…especially as it has infected the schools in the last 40 years. If patriotism made a comeback during the September 11th aftermath, we see that it did not last long.

    You know, the same ones who think patriotism, freedom, capitalism, rule of law, tradition are so yesterday. Not me. I’m a flag waving, God Bless America singing kind of girl who still gets choked up at the fireworks.

    I agree with you, Joe. BTW, did you send this to The Blade? Will they publish it, or do they support the Marcie Kaptur approach which supports Joe Biden’s “you cheapskate citizens need to be taxed more, since you ain’t doing enough” needs to be pointed out. I am tired of President Zero and the Left and Middle of Congress being ashamed of us and treating us as pockets that they can put their hand into and “spread it around”.

    I would like for this type of pride to be the norm, not unusual. God be with you in your Congressional race, Joe.
