Does the World Really Need to See Joe Biden in Israel Today?

There used to be an old saying and rule in the American body politic, that criticism of the United States President ended at the nation's shores whenever he left the country to go on an overseas trip.

That policy, of course, pretty much ended during the Reagan Administration (Republican of course), seeing as he pushed for and instituted policies that successfully defeated the Soviet Union (or what he correctly called the "Evil Empire"). Reagan won the Cold War without firing a shot and the policy of criticizing a President died along with the evil empire he helped defeat.

The other odd thing about Presidents on foreign policy trips is that they used to at least once during their term travel to North Korea to peer over the DMZ and claim that they were closer than the previous President had been to beef up their foreign policy cred. That contest of bravery was eventually rendered moot after Donald Trump strolled into North Korea during his term and then welcomed Kim Jong-un into South Korea for talks during his historic visit in 2019.

Not many Presidents have been able to sneak into a war zone like George W. Bush did into Iraq for Thanksgiving in 2003, but they all seem to want to pull off something similar to show the American people and the world they are in control.

That leads me to our current President, who is in Israel today, and that makes me nervous. I'm not worried about his safety as I assume the United States Secret Service will do its job brilliantly.

I'm just worried about Joe being Joe while the eyes of the world are on him, and it should worry you too.

I think it is fair to say that Joe after the last couple of months the President has had could have skipped this trip and sent the V.P. and that might have worked just as well. Maybe.

As my colleague Nick Arama covered the other day, Joe's 60-minute confab did not go as well as the White House had hoped last Sunday. From Nick's post More on Disastrous Biden Interview: Scott Pelley Has to Help Him Finish Sentence, Says President 'Tired'

Then he threw Israel under the bus with this confusing remark, saying they should not reoccupy Gaza, that he thought that would be a "big mistake." Funny, that's just what Iran was hoping Joe would say, and there he is right on cue. You can see him struggling to answer this question.

Pelley asks what was his message to "Hezbollah and its backer Iran." Biden's response wouldn't exactly send fear down any bad actor's back, and Pelley even had to finish his thought for him.

I'm sure Iran is quaking in their boots right now.

Then of course last week there was his trip to Philadelphia which was a Biden-made disaster as covered once again by Nick  Biden Trips and Almost Wipes out on the Stairs Again, Then Gets Lost During Remarks in Philly

Then it got worse when it was like a throwback to his multiple trips falling up into Air Force One. He tripped and almost wiped out, just trying to get up a few steps to the stage.

Then he mugged for the tiny group there, which looked like it was union workers who were made to show up. He tried to make it look like it was funny. Pro-tip, Joe? It wasn't. It's not funny we don't have a coherent person in the commander-in-chief seat who can even navigate a few steps. Other countries are looking at this kind of stuff and it's emboldening bad actors, that we have such a weak and incoherent man at the switch.

Somehow the White House staff decided to not yell "No mas!" and just allowed Joe to continue.

Biden then claimed that climate change was "the only existential threat to humanity."

Then he can't finish his sentence, "Our kids are gonna be and our grandkids are gonna be... anyway, I don't wanna even think about it..."

Israel is fighting for its very existence with enemies who have openly declared they are aiming for its destruction and Joe says Climate change is the biggest threat we face in the world.

As Joe himself might yell, "CMON, MAN!"

I can't confidently sit here and say that I believe the United States' commitment to helping Israel is rock solid while Joe Biden is President. History has shown over and over again with Joe Biden - first as Senator Joe Biden and then as Vice President Joe Biden - and now that he's in the top job, that he is incredibly inconsistent and that should be noteworthy.

Biden was a buffoon long before he became veep and at this critical time in world history with him in the top job and from what we've seen from him so far, he's not just slipping physically on and off stairs. I'm worried all around about this last-minute trip to Israel and what he will do at this time.

I hope and pray he does not make matters worse.
