Jindal: ‘We don’t want a BP check. We want to work!’

On Wednesday, July 21, a crowd of 11,000 (joined by 4,000 online) packed the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA for the Rally for Economic Survival.

The message was clear and bipartisan (not in the post-modern, ironic sense common in Washington these days): the President’s deepwater drilling moratorium is an economic disaster for Louisiana.

Please excuse my shortcomings as a videographer.

I’ll embed these videos out of sequence in order to highlight the Governor’s speech.

The Governor’s speech, cont’d:

Lt. Gov. Scott Angelle acted as Master of Ceremonies for the Rally. Angelle was the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and the Governor’s Legislative Liaison until his recent appointment by the Governor to fill the remainder of Mitch Landrieu’s elected term. Angelle is a true Endangered Species: a conservative, pro-business, pro-life Democrat. The close relationship between Jindal and Angelle demonstrates that, for Louisiana, issues and common interests often transcend party affiliation. Scott has rolled up his sleeves and worked tirelessly as the point man to help solve regulatory and other issues with the newly-christened BOEMRE (pronounced “bummer”) and other Federal agencies.

Give yourself a treat and watch Scott’s introductory speech:

Not BOzo’s posed press conference about unemployment benefits. Which makes me wonder: Were those three unemployed (and now probably unemployable) people paid to show up and be exploited?

“America is not yet ready to get it’s fuel from the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees.” Hahaha that’s great.

Ben Domenech at the New Ledger rightly points out that the story here may be the blistering that Obama received from a Democratic Lt. Governor.

        …I’ll be surprised.

I had never realized before yesterday how powerful a speaker he is. He has the potential to be a star in LA politics. After that speech though, Democrats won’t let him near an elective office.

These two men are great speakers. I watched these videos (all three) twice. and am so impressed I sent them to my facebook acccount and twitter. I also e-mailoed the address of this page to my friends.

These speeches underlie the entire war between the administration and the American public. We don’t want a hand-out, we want our economy and jobs back. The majority believes that the energy industry has and is responsible for the economic success of the US….allowing us to be generous donars to poor countries as never seen before in the history of the world. I am sick of hearing activist environmentalists tell half-truths and blantant lies in order to control who we are and what we were.

Let us support men like this….and Vladimir for showing us what the mainstream media refuses to do.

    …right now.

    See the link here.

The long and short of it is he and Bromwich are going to run around the country having get-togethers with local folks for the next three months while they continue the moratorium. This way they can argue it’s not arbitrary and capricious.

    Sneaky bastards, these people.

    THIS was awseome. Thanks!

If, God forbid, another well or drilling rig in the Gulf went berserk while we’re still dealing with the Deepwater Horizon, is there enough equipment and manpower to handle two oil catastrophes at the same time?

Or is that just one of those black swan events that are never supposed to happen but do?
