Wasserman Schultz: ‘We’ve really concentrated’ on oil production

The best time to plant an oak tree is ten years ago. The second best time is now.

There was an undeniable uptick in U.S. oil production in 2009 and 2010.

But new DNC chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) tried to take credit for it:

Like I said, domestic oil production is at its highest point in recent years. So we’ve actually really concentrated on that.

Democrats patting themselves on the back for oil production increases?

Ba. Lo. Ney.

With all due respect.

Rep. Wasserman Schultz represents the party that always tells you that there’s no point in looking for new oil fields because it takes 10 years to develop them. Remember?
World-class oil fields can take that long to develop, but it’s a stupid argument against doing them. For example, fields like BP’s Thunder Horse and Atlantis, and BHP Billiton’s Shenzi together account for 100% of the 2009-10 growth in Gulf of Mexico production. All these fields were discovered 10 years ago or more, and the owners had the foresight to stick with them even through times when the oil price was as low as $10 per barrel (1999). Back then Barack Obama was still an unknown Illinois state senator, and Wasserman Schultz was in the Florida state house.

Here’s what was predicted for BP’s big fields back in 2008, before you-know-who was elected:

When running at full tilt, Thunder Horse alone will increase overall U.S. oil and gas production by 3.6 percent. Add BP’s Atlantis platform that started up last year, and the boost grows to 6.4 percent.

Onshore, fields usually don’t take so long to develop. Just in the past few years, there has been an oil drilling boom in places like North Dakota and South Texas, and those booms are partly responsible for the production uptick. But the Feds, and certainly not the Dems, deserve zero credit for the Bakken Shale and the Eagleford Shale booms. Those plays were driven by technology and entrepreneurial, independent oil men.

And we’re no where near where we should be:

U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., said the slowing of permit approval will result in the loss of 250,000 barrels a day of production this year and 500,000 in 2012. [Hmmm... sounds familiar. - Ed.]

The moratorium has stopped us from looking for the next Thunder Horse or Atlantis. If the Bakken Shale were on public, not private lands, they’d be trying to shut that down, too.

Oh. Wait.

No, the answer to our energy woes lies in our private sector, not in Washington, and certainly not in the Democratic Party. And for them to try to take credit for this uptick is laughably pathetic.
While we’re at it, here’s Rep. Wasserman Schultz’s voting record on energy:

  • Voted YES on removing oil & gas exploration subsidies. (Jan 2007)
  • Voted YES on keeping moratorium on drilling for oil offshore. (Jun 2006)
  • Voted NO on scheduling permitting for new oil refineries. (Jun 2006)
  • Voted NO on authorizing construction of new oil refineries. (Oct 2005)

Lies should not be accepted and they should stand before the Courts on Perjury Charges

      politicians.

    • cpa2222

But there’s a court case that allowed them to get a pass. The essence was that people don’t trust the politicians’ statements, so they could lie. If we could sue them, the courts would be completely backlogged. But Obammy would never get out of jail

is the EPITOME of DUMB BLONDE. She has no clue as to the data behind the graph; All she sees is production is up. And since it’s up during the Reign of BHO, He must be responsible for it’s improvement.
She’s dangerous enough as she is to the poisonous politics, image how bad she would be if she actually rubbed both of her brain cells together.

My Blood Pressure Always goes up 20 points when I this group talk about oil and gas .I think that they think it falls from the sky and site rules forbid me from express myself much more

Thanks for answering many , many questions goes out to Glenn Beck. I have wondered for years …”Who are these environmentalists?” ” I don’t know who they are but they have to be some very powerful people to keep us from harvesting our own energy here in America”

Thanks to Glenn Beck and sites like Red State for waking me up to the progressive movement. A decades old movement designed to undermine Capitalism largely through the ever increasing government bureaucracy.

Their tools of choice are regulations , permits and a whole litany of red tape. All of it designed to make it harder and harder to harvest OUR energy reserves here in America . Employing Americans and feeding the engine of Capitalism….

THAT was the lynch pin I needed to get that “ahah!” moment. The moment I realized the progressives were saving those reserves for a time when they achieved their democratic utopia . A time when they could convince Americans that Capitalism had failed all by it’s itty bitty self!

It’s became completely aware to me that what better way to protect those energy reserves than the clever cover of “environmentalism”

We were bombarded with save the whales …save the trees…save the Rain Forrest ….save the snail darter….save the spotted Owls…etc

The progressives created a popular mentality that fell right in place to their plan to scare America that we DON’T have any oil or gas left and that even if we did it would kill little animals if we even thought about harvesting it.

What a clever CON…to get America to agree with a plan to save those energy reserves by simply making them think it was IMPOSSIBLE to get them out of the ground and that there wasn’t anything there in the first place!!

In fact the EPA became essentially a junk yard dog of regulations and permits and COSTS if a company even thought about extracting oil from the progressives secret stash of energy.

Now the real clever part of their plan is this…Why collapse and economic system that has made America the greatest country in the history of mankind?

Because you know that the minute you convince the stupid people that Capitalism has failed …suddenly through the state controlled media the new socialist model will have magically discovered a new and safe (read “green”) way to get out oil, gas , and coal.

Suddenly out of nowhere the progs will use their elite brain trust to have figured out the secret…….well we know their secret NOW. It was there all along for the taking. They just will control the flow of information to the stupid public and they will buy this great con.

Nothing will have changed except perception to the idiot population that some magic progressive think tank discovered how to extract oil and gas. This well protected reserve will fuel their progressive regime for a hundred years or more.

THAT is the prize my friends….right under American soil is the biggest gas station since Saudi Arabia. A hundred years of coal. Natural gas to fuel clean trucks as T Boone Pickens presented to the country back in 2007. Where in ole T boone now?

He was duped along with many hope and change Americans that the progressives co-opted him and his plan as he tossed his hat in the ring with Obama. Then they shut him down…

Shhhh…T Boone wait till we collapse Capitalism then we will let you get all the natural gas your little hearts desires…oh and by the way if you tell on us…tell on our plan….we will destroy you the good ole fashioned way….through regulations and fees and denied permits for your business. The only gas you will see is out the back side T Boone!!!

This prog Wasserman Schultz is just doing her job of perpetuating the con job on the American people who might be starting to wake up. Her role is to continue to dupe the younger generation that they have been transforming for quite some time now. Keep them on the environmental plantation…….

Little do they know they will be the slaves to this new feudal system being created by the progressive movement….ahah!!!

    • swi2522

give the man the grand prize

      • jeffex11

My brother -in -law said it best…..”it’s just common sense! what ever happened to common sense? ” he says . “How stupid can people be to think that America can spend it’s way to prosperity”

Let’s just hope last November is reflective of the truth in this country to the numbers of people who are on to this administration. And the polls are just manipulations by a complicit media trying to nudge the stupid voter simply hoping to pick the winning team rather than the team that will make America winners again!

There are no better workers than good ole fashioned America workers….Private sector workers!!! competition and Capitalism will win over these progressive transformers and we will send them back in to the closet where these socialist, communists, and Marxist belong.

A new era of McCarthyism will weed these progressives out and get our schools back on track toward teaching our kids to compete and excel rather than to conform to progressive collectivism BS.

        • rightwingmom52

don’t know how to be prosperous nor do they care how much they spend.

        • edintexas

The hat logo is “If they call it common sense, why is it so rare?”

    • ileencuccaro

She is more of a liberal progressive than most of them out there. I can not even listen to her voice. She either really believes her own lies or she is just a chronic pathological liar of the worst order

    • 4suramcan

somebody finally came in out of the fog and realized what is going on. Now, to get the other hundreds of millions to ‘GET IT’

  • barrowmrb

DOES ANYBODY EXPECT ME GET SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE
LIES THAT COME FROM THE DEMOCRATE PARTY AND THE
    WHITE HOUSE AS WELL.

I see Karl Marx nodding his head in appreciation and approval. Plus, I have to restrain myself from throwing something at the television.

She figures if she speaks quickly and forcefully that we will just mutely nod our heads in agreement and accept everything as the gospel truth.

I think the DNC did Americans the greatest favor by putting her in charge; now their communist ideals will be so obvious that no one can ignore them.

Oh, well, there’s still the mute button….

  • mspector

If I understand DNC/WH propaganda on this issue:
    * Oil drilling is bad because Big Oil makes profits.
    * Subsidies for drilling are bad because it helps Big Oil make profits.
    * We can’t issue new permits because drilling for oil is bad for the environment.
    * We don’t need oil anyway because all cars will be electric sometime soon.
    * There’s an uptick in oil production so we’re really concentrated on increasing oil production.

    Have I forgotten anything?

    • http://chucksomerville.com/ Chuck From Dayton

They are not subsidiesl, they are not all that large, and they are in the main NOT aimed at the oil industry…

      http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/05/about_those_oil_subsidies.html

Ah, but what are facts to those who dutifully parrot Democrat talking points?

    • kamaaina

I just want someone to point out an “Alternative Energy” strategy that the left doesn’t automatically shoot down if its proposal includes their backyard? They are such hypocrites. All their decisions are fine as long as they don’t have to sacrifice anything.

And then the whole, “It doesn’t matter how it is, just how it appears” thing makes me nuts. Some of my green friends were all excited about getting an electric car. I made their heads spin on their shoulders when I explained they were only redirecting the focus because the gas-burning devil cars wouldn’t be in front of their house but they were actually doing more damage to the environment than my gas-burning devil car.

Here’s a really good explanation of the carbon footprint of the mythical “electric car” solution.

      http://www.niquette.com/puzzles/carbfprs.htm

Basically, the carbon footprint of the electric car may be LARGER than the gas-burning devil cars of today, depending on the local mix of power-plant sources.

In other words, an electric car’s carbon footprint will be less than the gas-burning devil cars of today, IF YOUR ELECTRICITY SOURCE IS PROBABLY NUCLEAR. That little tidbit made their heads spin even faster.

The whole electric car scenario should probably be listed under the “Ways to drive a liberal crazy.”

    • willhen50

Everything around us has some kind of technology from petroleum. Cars don’t just run on gas, the plastics and rubber are also derived from petroleum. These people who say we should invest in other technology are out in left field, first GM has come out with a $40K electric car that for the most part has to to rely on petroleum. The technology is good, so why aren’t they selling???

Unreliability and cost, I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t pay $40K for a car that can only go at the Max 60 miles before it has to be charged. They say it isn’t a hybrid but it requires gas as a backup. The $20K prius does just as well.

It is also been proven that their is enough oil in the United States that we can last 200+ years, but because of a technology called side drilling, Canada is removing oil from the Northern States and Russia is removing oil from Alaska, how long before the supply is depleted?

My last point is, there are over 20 million cars running on gas, stopping oil production now, to explore alternative sources is insane, this is like stopping food production to develop a pill that emulates a full course meal. Both are years in the future, I don’t think we can survive until it’s done.

  • lizaz

liars in the democratic party. Guess that’s why they made her chair of the dnc. With more than 6,000 products we use everyday made from oil, these idiots cannot convince me we can live off their mythical “alternative energy”. Let’s get rid of their majority power in Nov 2012! It’s the only way to bring the American way back!! No more Socialism!!

  • jeffex11

One only need to look at the agenda 21 plans of the globalists to see what they mean by “alternative energy”….to them it means herding the masses in to the cities and LIMITING your alternatives to energy!!!

Limiting your ability to move about the country by making automobiles a thing of the past for the masses! Oh the elite class and the few that serve them will be allowed that mode of transportation but the rest of us will be on some form of mass transportation.

Destroying the hallmark of individual freedoms by fostering a generation of dependent class. The Tea Party and those that support the cause of freedom are on to these progressives.

The game for all the marbles now is to capture the hearts and minds of the stupid uninformed voters before it’s too late!

Too late as the are “nudged” on to the government dependency roles ala…Cloward and Piven strategy….

  • jeffex11

Nothing defines America more than it’s cars…….From those that simple see the freedom of the road and a car as a means to enjoy that freedom …to the personal attachment we have to our cars.

When speed channel airs the Barrett Jackson auto auction I must have missed the show with all the cars made by socialist countries that became collector cars!!!

When these progressives and globalists attack our fuel access and affordability …they attack our way of life!!! this Wasserman is a poster child for the transformative agenda and the Rules for Radicals …the ends justify the means …pretext for LYING TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!
