But seriously, Liz Smith’s Solyndra-Konarka comparison’s look to me like another sign of the general unraveling of the left’s “utopian” promise. In fact, it seems like the political left’s decades-long, dogmatic litany is coming apart.

The political left has long been assuring anyone who’d listen that it can legislate the “utopia” into reality: that it can pass laws that will force “green energy” to meet the country’s needs; that it can pass laws to force equal pay, even for unequal work; that it can pass laws to force people to abandon deeply-held personal beliefs and personal likes and dislikes concerning right, wrong, religion, different cultures, et cetera, et cetera; that it can pass laws to force its fuzzy-dream “utopia” to replace reality,

Perhaps it took the election of a man like Obama–a man who at least implied that he’d finally make the “utopia” a reality–to finally expose the “utopia” for what it is: a departure from reality; a fantasy that cannot work.

Perhaps it took a man like Obama to finally expose the “utopian” promise for what it is: an unrealistic campaign promise that relies very heavily on the ignorance of those to whom it’s made.

It’s falling apart now: the whole dream. Forcing equal pay, a la the law Reid is submitting for passage; curtailing domestic oil, natural gas and coal mining in favor of wind mills and solar panels; taxing more heavily the already heavily-taxed, high-income earners to get more money to give away to low-income earners; allowing the EPA unrestrained police authority; and on, and on, and on: none of it works. The more leftists try to force their long-promised “utopia” on America, the more the dream just shatters against the reality that it’s a silly, childish, stoned-out dream, and it can’t work. It was fun to ramble on about it at pot parties and in pick-up bars, and it’s worked very well as a campaign promise, so long as those who made it didn’t stupidly try to follow through with it: so long as it was just a sweet-sounding promise used to seduce stoned-out voters with unrealistic expectations.

(Inhale) “Yes, yes, join the revolution.” (Exhale) “Whoa. Far out. It’s all about equality, baby: my place, or yours?”

This leads me to wonder . . .. David Limbaugh, in a Hannity radio interview, asked the question most poignantly. Is Obama really stupid–made that way by his ideological zeal–or does he know the “utopia” promise can’t really work for anything except as a means to fulfill his genuine intention: to destroy the United States?
