More L.A. Times God-Like Obamaconography

In yet another example of the absurd, even borderline blasphemous depictions of Barack Obama as if he were a religious figure, the L.A. Times foisted upon its customers an amazing specimen as a wrap around over its newsstand copies of the paper leading up to inaugural day last week.

Freeper “puffer” was so amazed at the audacity of this L.A. Times imagery, he had to scan the sheet and display it on FreeRepublic.com. The photograph is reminiscent of one of the most famous and iconic depictions of God in western art, the Sistine Chapel painting of God reaching out to Adam. But, instead of God, we have The Obammessiah reaching across the page as if straining to touch each of us with his healing hand. It’s quite disgusting, really, the way the Old Media has propagandized for Obama by replicating religious imagery or communist propaganda and this over-the-top image is a perfect example.

Now, compare this dubitable image to this close up of the image at the Sistine Chapel:

The L.A. Times image certainly recalls the image of God reaching out to man, does it not?

This is the sort of garbage that cannot help Obama in the long run. The more this man so short on experience is puffed up, the farther and harder he can fall. Instead of treating the man as if he were the second coming, a more realistic image of him should have been employed for once we begin to see the cracks in his ability to heal the sick and feed the masses from a few fishes and loaves, the disappointment will surely be galling to those who imagine that they will get free houses, money and jobs from this faux messiah.

There was a day when the Old Media proclaimed itself far too cynical, somehow too grown up to fall for such sycophancy. But that is no more. Now the media has enmasse succumbed to a worship of this messianic figure, Obama.

I’d feel sorry for Barack Obama if he hadn’t encouraged such worship throughout the campaign by his empty “we are the ones” style of rhetorical flourish.

It is sure to be a hard fall.

    because I think it is.

It would be bad, anyway, if we all begin to ignore this treatment of The One. We need to keep it before everyone unless it become acceptable and thereby drive down our American character.

If you mean “not shocked” then you are still okay. If you mean “not disgusted” then you need serious help. :-)

That’s how I’ll decide to stop being a prosecutor and go sell used cars or something – - I am way past being shocked but, when the things the bad guys do no longer disgust me, I’ll know it’s time to go.

        Just unsurprised.

I just had a great Sunday night meal, and then this…..
Why do other people’s psychological disorders make me so nauseous?

It will be a hard fall for “the one.” The attempts to lower the bar have failed, & what he’s done so far is not winning him a bunch of friends – ordering Guantanamo closed but no plans for the incarcerated? Not listening to the generals on the ground in Iraq?

Obama is a facade – gives a great speech & is photogenic. Other than that, what? He’s not shown great leadership skills & wilts under pressure. He does not do well when opposed, something we on the right need to remember. I would have preferred the fall come without his being president – that didn’t happen. We have lessons to learn from that. We will need a strong, passionate, conservative Republican leader or leaders to step up & repair the damage that will occur.

No, he has not shown great leadership. Nor is he likely. I read over the weekend that he is forming a tight little ‘?ber-cabinet’ of long-time associate-type advisers. Presidents can certainly do this, but this little clique bothers me tremendously. I sense that it is not being formed to supplement the established Cabinet positions, but to circumvent them.

A magisterial type of rule is in the offing, and it both offends and perturbs me. Not a President and his Cabinet, but a King and his Court. The Constitution gives the President his power; this ‘court’ will exercise that power because the President is weak. Unelected, unanswerable, secretive, and bare-knuckled. It scares me to contemplate such thuggery elevated to the Presidency, and to set up shop inside the White House

    Not to THAT picture anyway.
There is one similar figure in history that came to my mind though. A lot of pictures of him as well, but he used his right hand to reach out with. Everybody reached out in response too.
Well anyway, that was what flashed in my mind when I saw the wrap in front of the donut shop down the street.

I also see that resemblance. Hail Victory. Hail Obama.

Isn’t it more likely that a lefties’ watch is on his right arm ?

  • RoxannaDanna

or not, the messiah message is still blatant, obvious and disgusting.

This kind of idolotry makes me ashamed of and sad for my fellow Americans.

Your failure to understand the Obama-media relationship is delaying your healing!

    • barry915barry

      and it is THE ONE!

  • icbm

One the one hand, I’m happy that the left is becoming more religious. On the other hand, I wish their religion weren’t an updated version of Ba’al worship.

from the “Left Behind” series comes to mind… Is that religion, or anti-religion?
