Tomi Lahren Attacked at Minneapolis Restaurant, and You'll Be Shocked by her Supporters

Tomi Lahren, known to red staters the country over as — let’s not kid ourselves — the hot chick who espouses conservative political ideas, was harassed at a restaurant in Minneapolis this weekend.

Say it ain’t so!

As recounted by Lahren on Fox and Friends, the fellow diners threw not only obscenities her way, but water:

“I was…with both my parents, and we were just enjoying brunch…and, unfortunately, there was a group of people probably around my age that thought it would be funny to throw water at me and then start chanting profanity at me.”

Perhaps they thought it would melt the wicked witch.

It most certainly did not, and to the rescue came the Wizard of Oztentatious himself, President Donald Trump:

Surprisingly, support also flew in from one of the Wizard’s not-so-friendly-acquaintances, who may be easily imagined by some as toppled by a cycloned house, her black-and-white striped socks and red shoes poking out:

Lahren, who, in the GOP world, is certainly more Dorothy than Elphaba, is standing her ground:

“I’m tough, my family’s tough. We can handle it. … You don’t have to like me, you don’t have to agree with my political opinions, but you don’t have the right to throw things at me. … But again, I’m tough. I can handle it.”

We have reached a sad state in our country, where civil discourse has been replaced by vicious attacks. Encouraged by the anonymity of the internet and — particularly since the election of Donald Trump — aided by the breathtaking lack of decorum on the part of the mainstream media, the rise of vitriol for those on the Right is not particularly surprising anymore.

In the political arena, and in the dialogue which can take us from this place of belligerence to respectful debate, we must find our way back to a more polite time, a place where those who disagree are still united by the fact that they are Americans. That is at the heart of our democratic republic; home is where the heart is. And, as we all know, There’s No Place Like Home.

Speaking of attacks on Republicans, check out my coverage of Meghan McCain’s fantastic takedown of aggressors on The View here.

And more on civility in my piece here.
