In Defiance of All Expectations from the Left, Trump Says He Prefers Fake News to Censorship

The Left are constantly labeling Donald Trump a fascistic would-be dictator. But the President threw them a curveball Tuesday at a rally in Charleston, West Virginia.

Speaking about the rampant dishonesty of the media (which would include the aforementioned characterization of him), The Donald laid out his thoughts on free expression as it relates to the press:

“I would rather have fake news than have anybody — including liberals, socialists, anything — than have anybody stopped and censored.”

Dang right!

“You can’t pick one person and say, ‘Well we don’t like what he’s been saying. He’s out.'”

Exactly. I covered this same idea recently, related to Bill Maher’s attempt at explaining free speech to his audience. Please see here.

Trump said he’s resigned himself to deal with the lying media:

“So we’ll live with fake news. I mean I hate to say it, but we have no choice because that’s by far the better alternative.”

The “alternative” is what the Left want. They believe speech should be valued according to its compliance to their code.

Suppression of expression is indeed a fascistic idea. Perplexingly, it is one coming from those who are falsely castigating Trump as a fascist. And it may one day silence many. A quick survey of left-wing college students makes that clear. Check out the videos at the bottom of this article.
