This just in: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal is stunningly stupid (here, here, and here).

Also, this just in: Sen. Cory Booker loves Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal.

In fact, at a campaign event Friday, Spartacus himself (here) compared the plan — which some believe was written in crayon — to fighting Hitler and the Nazis.

Yes — his comment was that idiotic.

Here we go:

“Our planet is in peril, and we need to be bold.”

Boldly stupid?

“And when the planet has been in peril in the past, who came forward to save Earth…from the scourge of Nazis and totalitarian regimes? We came forward.”

Oh boy.

“We came forward with the Marshal Plan.”

The Marshall Plan, also known as the European Recovery Program, was a U.S. program providing aid to Western Europe following the devastation of World War II. It was enacted in 1948 and provided more than $15 billion to help finance rebuilding efforts on the continent. The brainchild of U.S. Secretary of State George C. Marshall, for whom it was named, it was crafted as a four-year plan to reconstruct cities, industries and infrastructure heavily damaged during the war and to remove trade barriers between European neighbors – as well as foster commerce between those countries and the United States.

Fast-forward to 2019, and here’s the new Marshal Plan, according to Cory:

Yes, we are calling for a full transition to fossil fuels and zero greenhouse gases. Anyone who has read the resolution sees that we spell this out through a plan that calls for eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from every sector of the economy. Simply banning fossil fuels immediately won’t build the new economy to replace it – this is the plan to build that new economy and spells out how to do it technically. We do this through a huge mobilization to create the renewable energy economy as fast as possible. We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast, but we think we can ramp up renewable manufacturing and power production, retrofit every building in America, build the smart grid, overhaul transportation and agriculture, plant lots of trees and restore our ecosystem to get to net-zero.

Is it just me, or in the last 71 years, has the world (or the world of Democratic politics) grown mind-numbingly, paralyzingly immature?
