WATCH: Heroic 8-Yr-Old Gets Dragged by a Car to Save His Big Sister from Being Kidnapped

Here’s a great tale of a terrible occurrence with an inspiring ending.

On Thursday, at the Atrium Medical Center outside Cincinnati, 69-year-old Nita Coburn exited her car briefly to help a relative into the emergency room.

Though only gone for 10 seconds, Nita left precious cargo in the vehicle’s back seat: her two great grandchildren, ages 8 and 10. The key was still in the ignition.

That turned out to be a really bad move.

As seen in security footage obtained by law enforcement, 24-year-old Dalvir Signh — an alleged heroin addict — saw an opportunity and took it.

Dalvir jumped into the driver’s seat and started to jet.

Nita says the children cried out:

“I could hear the kids screaming, that was what set me off.”

8-year-old Chance opened the door and bailed but held onto his big sister, Skylar. And that was a problem, because she was stuck: Dalvir had her by the hoodie. Skylar couldn’t escape.

“[Dalvir] sat down and started driving and kept saying, ‘Get out, get out,’ and I was trying to get her out,” Chance recalled to ABC 11.

He could’ve let go and been safe. But he wasn’t leaving the crime without his sister in tow.

Skylar told the news outlet she at first thought she was home free, but Dalvir yanked her back in:

“My brother went to go grab me, opened the door and went out. My brother fell out, but the guy pulled me back in the car.”

At the same time, Nita ran, catching up with her car. She managed to open the door; Dalvir slammed it shut. She opened it again; same result.

Unwilling to abandon his sister, Chance hung on, his body dangling from the car. He pulled and pulled, finally freeing her. Both kids tumbled out of the 4-door sedan.

Not knowing her great grandchildren were free, Nita held onto the door handle as the car dragged her. Dalvir accelerated, and she eventually lost her grip.

But everyone’s okay, and Chance is being hailed a hero. Middletown Police Officer Connor Kirby praised the boy’s chivalry:

“What Chance did was extremely heroic. It shows how extremely brave he was and how much he loves his sister.”

Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw concurred:

“This little guy is a hero. No question. He pulled his sister out of the car with no concern for his own safety. That is incredible at his age.”

Dalvir didn’t get far — he was intercepted just blocks away.

The idiot’s being charged with two counts of kidnapping, felony assault, and grand theft.

Chance is being charged with being a really, really great little brother.

And I’m indicting Nita on being an exceptionally spry 70-year-old. She chased that car like a doberman.
