On Tuesday, Leana Wen — head honcho of Planned Parenthood — took to Twitter to warn of the “public health crisis” in Missouri.

As I covered Saturday, Gov. Mike Parson signed into law an abortion ban beginning at eight weeks’ pregnancy — with no exceptions for rape or incest.

Now Leana’s saying Missouri may become the first state in nearly half a century to have no abortion clinics.

In order to prevent the chasm, the state has to renew Planned Parenthood’s license for its St. Louis clinic by Friday. Will it?

Here’s Leana — tweet tweet!

The CEO blames the scare on the President and “anti-women’s health” legislators.

Of course, abortion isn’t about “women’s health.” It’s about not wanting to have a child. One can say they’re pro-abortion; but a call to women’s health is a failed attempt at sleight of hand.

HB 126 was signed on May 24th. The governor wanted to send a potent message:

“By signing this bill today, we are sending a strong signal to the nation that, in Missouri, we stand for life, protect women’s health, and advocate for the unborn. All life has value and is worth protecting. Thanks to decades of pro-life leadership, Missouri recently hit an all-time low for the number of abortions. We’ve gone from a high of more than 20,000 in our state, to now below 3,000. By working together, we can continue to assist more Missourians in choosing life.”

Here’s a bit from the bill:

Except in cases of medical emergency, no abortion shall knowingly be performed or induced upon a pregnant woman if the fetal heartbeat of the unborn child has been detected in accordance with the provisions of this section.

Also, unlike Alabama’s legislation, Missouri’s law is meant to be federal court-proof (see here).

Here are a few more choice quotes from Leana, from the past:

“It’s about saving people’s lives. That’s the work that we’ve done at Planned Parenthood for over 100 years” (here).

“[Daily Show host Trevor Noah] called me [Donald Trump’s] ‘nightmare’ — a badge of honor I proudly wear as we fight for our patients, our rights & our future!” (here).

“As a mother to a one-year old, I am disgusted by [the President’s] lies that aim to stoke fear and division. I know his true intention: to shame women, limit our access to health care, and take away our rights” (here).

“Being a parent has clarified my values” (here).

As I’ve previously stated, abortion has become the battle of the moment. And it shows no signs of stopping. If Planned Parenthood’s license isn’t renewed, an entire slew of protest and defense is no doubt imminent.

Stay tuned.
