On Friday’s Tucker Carlson Tonight, civil rights veteran and Woodson Center founder/president Bob Woodson stopped by to wax philosophic on slavery reparations.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a fan (here) — and not just for slavery. She seems psyched about everybody gettin’ money. Except the whites:

“People think reparations is reparations for slavery, but really, economically speaking, reparations are for the damage done by the New Deal and redlining because that is where we saw a compounding of the existing inequity from the legacy of slavery, where we drew red lines around black communities. We said white communities will get home loans and they will get access to the basic bedrock of wealth in America and this will be your heirloom and we gave white America the heirloom that appreciated overtime — that people still benefit from today and we did not give to African-American and Mexican communities, Puerto Rican communities.”

Bob thinks that’s idiotic. Or, foolish:

“I think it’s fools gold. It demeans both whites and blacks. To black America, you can monetize oppression. Also, what it does … the message to black America is “Somehow, your destiny is determined by what white people do. What white people give you. And not what you are able to do for yourself.’”

Profound point.

Who’s into the idea? A bunch of rich folks:

“[The notion’s] bandied around by people with six figure incomes living in gated communities with their children in private schools. When you go into St. Louis…where there were 19 people shot and killed over the weekend, they’re not talking about reparations as an answer to that challenge.”

And to him, it’s plumb baloney:

“[S]o I just think that it is virtue signaling for white candidates. And for some white guilty people, it’s an easy fix. But it’s very crippling to the nation.”

Tucker lobbed:

“So, hypothetically, if we were to get it tomorrow — some reparation scheme — do you think that there would be fewer shootings in St. Louis or Chicago? Or Baltimore?”

Bob laughed.

He doesn’t believe most black people are trying to get a big check from Uncle Sam:

“It’s a distraction. … When black Americans, rank and file,  [are asked], ‘What are the issues most important to you,’ it’s jobs, it’s security. … But these people on television — the candidates — pander to the black community, assume that they don’t have to speak to the legitimate needs of black America. Instead, they can just pander, and walk through the civil rights door.”

The conversation began with talk of Al Sharpton’s National Action Network conference, during which — essentially and hilariously — Al put Democratic candidates in front of the crowd and aked, “Will you give these people free money? (Pssst…say Yes)?”

Bob ain’t into it.

“It is pandering. It is insulting to black America. And as I have said, I have suffered my last rich angry black and my last guilty white person. That’s it.”

Enjoy the video — of the interview as well as Al Sharpton’s hysterical prompt — above.
