We’ve reached a strange moment in time when those chosen to lead the country want to disassemble the agency protecting it.
But, as the TV show notes, this is us.
On Wednesday, Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar said it’s time to eliminate the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.
She made the remark while speaking to Marc Lamont Hill on BET’s digital program Black Coffee Live.
For some reason, she believes ICE has no one above it:
“We have rogue agencies that have no accountability, no transparency, in how they conduct their business. We know that they have spoken in the most vile ways about immigrants. We know that they have certain views about, you know, what brown and black people deserve. And so we should be having a conversation about eliminating their existence.”
We know they have certain views about brown and black people??
To Ilhan, that majority-brown group is a bunch of terrorists:
“[W]e are continuing to allow for them to terrorize people who are running away from the, you know, most horrific circumstances, and that’s…inhumane, and that can’t sit well with the American values that we have that sort of, really, clearly cares about dignity and humanity.”
So she accuses a group of having a negative attitude toward brown people, and then she accuses a group of brown people of being terrorists. And it’s the very same group.
Sometimes I think if you removed from politics all the words that make no sense, Washington would be the quietest place in the world.
Rep. Omar said Congress should considering eliminating border patrol agencies this AM.

Marc was an odd choice for the conversation — he was fired from CNN after appearing to call for the destruction of Israel (here).
And Ilhan’s a peculiar messenger where terrorism’s concerned; or at least ICE is a curious choice as her target: the representative’s district is the #1 terrorist recruitment area of the country (here).
Strange times, folks. And not strictly in the coolest of ways.
