Ridiculous Roundup: the Media Filled Its Pants Over America's 4th of July Celebration - Before It Even Happened

How ’bout a roundup of ridiculousness?

Some among the Left acted a fool over the 4th of July celebration in Washington. If the display had come courtesy of a Democratic leader, I’d say there’s more than a fair chance those among the partisan media would’ve considered it a patriotic salute in the capital and kept the president’s name out of every sentence of discussion.

But given their desire to perpetuate a narrative of the spit-fanged dictator losing his mind with mad power as he dashes toward murderous world domination, it wasn’t a parade; it was his parade. It wasn’t a commemoration; it was his commemoration. It wasn’t an atrocity; it was his atrocity. It didn’t honor America; it honored him.

To hear them talk, one might assume the planes and tanks and uniforms were covered in those same things with which the bottle rockets painted the sky — our fearless dictator’s name and likeness.

On MSNBC, Joy Reid offered this:

“What is the message Donald Trump is trying to send by rolling tanks down Constitution Avenue? Who is that message to? It’s certainly not to tyrants, because he likes tyrants. He loves tyrants. … Is it to our friends? Is it to Western democracies — who he doesn’t particularly like. Or is it to us? Is it to the Resistance in this country? ‘I got tanks. I have this military armada.’ The message is a threat.”

Yes — someone on the planet actually spoke those words. On TV, no less.

Sigh.

As she rolled forward, others on the panel nodded or hummed in agreement.

Again I ask: Why must political players make such absurd statements? Why not go with something in the realm of the real?

She went on:

“[I] hate to say that, but I think that Donald Trump styles himself a tyrant, not a defeater of tyrants.”

Oy.

And she wasn’t alone.

Attorney — and chief of staff at both the U.S. Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency under Obama — Jeremy Bash submitted a rather perplexing offering:

“[T]his is nauseating…because this isn’t just obnoxious tackiness; this is actually dangerous. Because it’s fundamentally unAmerican.”

The whole parade is somehow a show of, not love for America, but Donald Trump’s most personal military might as Mr. BigMan. And Jeremy believes The Donald thinks world leaders see him as weak:

“Clearly, Donald Trump wants to transmit a message of his strength because he perceives himself as being seen as weak around the world. Which he is.”

If he’s so weak, then how is he dangerous??

From CNN:

“This was what — something that the President saw — it was about bolstering himself up. Looking like a dictator from another nation.”

It’s incredible how often the talking heads on the boob tube tell us about Donald Trump’s inner thoughts — his intentions, his motivations. That alone is breathtakingly dumb.

But dumber still is that those components are so frequently jaw-droppingly sinister. Such dripping evil, from the eccentric billionaire who was loved by the media and sainted in rap songs — until he added an “R” to his name and became an Oval Office contender.

Yet many people won’t be aware of all that. They’ll just hear in passing that our leader is a bloodthirsty maniac who may never step down.

And their goofiness is marching on.

Oh — and did I mention that all of those things were claimed before the parade had even occurred?

I’ll write that again: They said all of those things before the celebration had even happened.

Enjoy the video above. And check out Gret Gutfeld’s monologue in response the ludicrous characterization of the then-upcoming parade.

Conversations between pundits are interesting insofar as they bring different perspectives to the goings-on of the world.

But could those across the aisle at least discuss stuff happening in the real world? That seems much more fruitful. As it stands, for some, their fruit is rotten.
