Kid Gets Told He's Tossed From Class Unless He Hides His Trump Flag - in a Most Peculiar Place

California is a mystical land; they do things their own way. But in this case, perhaps its not their own as much as some might guess.

In the small town of Colusa, a 16-year-old was recently sitting in chemistry class.

The teacher detected some tomfoolery and didn’t waste time nipping it in the bud.

Reportedly, the kid was instructed in no uncertain terms: Remove the image, or you’ll be booted from class.

That would be, the Zoom meeting.

The class was virtual, and the offensive item was in the boy’s own room.

But it was a red flag.

And also blue and white.

Displayed in the background: a “Trump 2020, Keep America Great” banner.

The guy’s mom — Tiffany, who was “furious” — told ABC10 he left class before any ejection could occur.

Sacramento’s KXTV relays he was allegedly given 15 seconds:

Another student…took a recording of the virtual classroom as the teacher counted to 15. This is the only reported video of the class, which shows Tiffany’s son laying on his bed with the political flag in view.

In an email, Tiffany noted a lot hasn’t been laid out where virtual rules are concerned:

“With the distance learning we are all forced to do because of the new color chart, the school district has not addressed the students’ rights in their own home to the teachers or to us as parents.”

Where does the Colusa Unified School District student handbook fit in?

Here’s a  selection:

“The Governing Board believes that free inquiry and exchange of ideas are essential parts of a democratic education. The Board respects students’ rights to express ideas and opinions, take stands on issues, and support causes, even when such speech is controversial or unpopular.”

More from ABC10:

The school policies generally allow students the right to free speech which includes the wearing of buttons, badgers, and other insignia. The policy bans the use of fighting words and any “expressions” that are obscene, libelous, or slanderous.

It appears Colusa could stand to be…loosa…but it’s not the only educational institution tensed up where Trump’s concerned.

Of course, schools haven’t always been anti-POTUS.

You may remember this from Burlington, NJ:

Though it’s likely outside of school, while you’re in a musical mood, let’s venture to Venice Beach:

Going north, in a town of roughly 6,000, a teenager was flagged for bad behavior.

And why? Perhaps his teacher — who’s since apologized — thought “Trump 2020” was fightin’ words…

Back to ABC10:

The school policies generally allow students the right to free speech which includes the wearing of buttons, badgers, and other insignia. The policy bans the use of fighting words and any “expressions” that are obscene, libelous, or slanderous.
