Kathy Hochul Says Open Borders Are All Republicans' Fault

Kathy Hochul has an interesting take on the border crisis: It is all Republicans' fault.

Speaking at a press conference in Albany this week, Hochul called on Republicans in New York to pressure their leadership to strike a deal with Democrats on the border:

Why aren't the Republicans in the state of New York banning together and asking for their leadership in Washington to sign on to the bill that the Senate has negotiated, [that] Republicans in the Senate have negotiated?

There is a deal. There is a deal waiting to be signed and you know they create the chaos, it's like you know somebody sets their house on fire and then complains we could take so long for the fire department to respond.

Hochul also insisted that Joe Biden is willing to shut down the border if only Republicans in Congress would agree to a soft bipartisan deal:

You created this by your inability and intentional inability to sign on to what Chuck Schumer has been negotiating... President Biden has said he will shut down the border he's willing to he's done everything Republicans have asked him to do and now they keep moving the goalpost further, further back because they realize they don't really want to solve this.

The New York governor also accused Republicans of being "disingenuous," insisting they "like the chaos" of millions of illegal immigrants pouring into the country every year and draining the country's resources.

Hochul's comments are probably an indication that even she and her Democratic colleagues are coming to the end of the tether with regard to the border crisis, with New York among the cities most severely affected by the tsunami of illegals arriving on an almost daily basis.

The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has repeatedly warned that the issue of mass immigration will "destroy" his city unless a solution is found. "Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to," he said last year. "I don't see an ending to this."

Of course, the only reason Hochul is so concerned is that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has implemented the wise policy of busing illegal aliens to so-called "sanctuary cities" such as New York and Chicago so they can be the lucky ones to take care of them. And given the enormous benefits on offer, many of the migrants are happy to oblige.

Just this week, Abbott confirmed that he will continue transporting migrants to Democratic cities so long as there is no genuine effort by the Biden administration to close the border.

"Texas has transported over 102,000 migrants to sanctuary cities," Abbott wrote on the X platform. "Overwhelmed Texas border towns should not bear the brunt of Biden’s open border policies. Our transportation mission will continue until Biden secures the border."
