Kamala's Stepdaughter Endorses Aid Effort for Gaza, Makes No Mention of Hamas Attack on Israel

Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff has launched an online appeal to raise money for Gaza, according to a New York Post exclusive. Her father, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, is Jewish, although Ella says she herself is not.

She affixed a fundraising drive “supporting urgent relief for Gaza’s children” on her personal Instagram account, which has 315,000 followers. She made an appeal “supporting urgent relief for Gaza’s children”—but did not mention the over 1,400 Israelis brutally murdered in the October 7 Hamas terror attacks.

The funding drive is led by the Ohio-based Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, which according to the site ProPublica, brought in $21 million in donations in 2021 and had assets of $38 million that same year. So far, they’ve hauled in $7.8 million in the newest effort.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) found it horrifying.

It’s of tremendous concern and I find it abhorrent.

To be honest with you, I am kind of stunned by it. It’s disturbing to the maximum degree.

Two things make the move questionable: one, Emhoff appears to have ignored the carnage Hamas inflicted on babies, entire families, and innocent civilians in their surprise attack. Two, Hamas is notorious for stealing aid, so these types of efforts might inadvertently end up funding terrorists.

As RedState’s Bonchie wrote in October

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, located in Gaza, was robbed recently, with a large stockpile of fuel being taken.

According to the UNRWA, which put out a statement on Monday, trucks purporting to be from the "Ministry of Health" from the "de facto authorities in Gaza" removed the fuel and medical equipment from the organization's staging area.

Who are the "de facto authorities in Gaza?" That would be Hamas, though the UN agency is very careful not to mention them by name because they have long been quasi-allies. Not surprisingly, soon after the thread was posted, it was deleted.

The Israel Defense Forces, meanwhile, also says Hamas simply takes the aid, especially now that they're at war, and it often doesn't get to the people it needs to:

Hamas is exploiting civilian suffering in Gaza and continues to control medical and fuel supplies, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on October 29. Israel is closely monitoring the humanitarian situation in Gaza and has “assembled a team of experts that assess the humanitarian situation on a daily basis,” the Israeli Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said. This effort includes coordination with international organizations, facilitating humanitarian aid, and repairing water and electric supplies in Gaza.

The coastal strip has adequate food and fuel supplies, COGAT said, but Hamas terrorists continue to confiscate them for their own use. The New York Times confirmed this assessment in an October 27 article, “As Gazans Scrounge for Food and Water, Hamas Sits on a Rich Trove of Supplies.”

The real way to get aid to Gaza is for Hamas to release the over 200 hostages it holds and surrender. As far as I know, Emhoff has not made any online appeals for that to happen.
