Don't Try This in SEC Country: Ole Miss Students Wreck Pro-Hamas Protest, Chant 'We Want Trump!'

Pro-Hamas protests have broken out at universities across the country, as we’ve extensively reported, but the extremists who thought it was a good idea to protest at Ole Miss might want to rethink their strategies in the future because they found out it was not a good idea. You don’t bring that stuff to Oxford, Mississippi and expect it to go over well—it isn’t LA or New York.

When about 50 or 60 anti-Israel demonstrators showed up on the Quad Wednesday with Palestinian flags and the usual hateful chants, they were quickly reminded that this was SEC country as hundreds of counterprotesters materialized around them shouting, “We want Trump! We want Trump!”

It was a beautiful thing to see, especially after all the madness we’ve witnessed at Columbia University and UCLA:

Instead of cheering for terrorists, this crowd sang a song that many of us know and love:

When writing about the disgusting events at UCLA, which were finally shut down Wednesday night by the LAPD and the CHP, I noted that Gov. Gavin Newsom has been notably invisible. There have no been soaring speeches decrying the violence and antisemitism, no concrete actions out of the state’s chief executive's office, just a total lack of leadership. Contrast that with the response from the Republican governor of Mississippi, Tate Reeves, who told protesters in no uncertain terms that destructive behavior would not be permitted in his state:

Peaceful protests are allowed and protected - no matter how outrageous those protesters views may seem to some of us.

But unlawful behavior will not be tolerated. It will be dealt with accordingly.

Law and order will be maintained!

You tell 'em, guv.

The situation never got as out of hand as it did in so many other institutions because law enforcement didn't let it.

Police intervened quickly, moving the growing crowd to behind the campus' clock tower, in front of the School of Applied Sciences. The police led the pro-Palestine protestors into the building.

The university has yet to release a statement on the event, but Jacob Batte, director of media relations for the University of Mississippi, confirmed that the pro-Palestine protestors had been safely evacuated on buses. He could not confirm whether the protestors were students.

It's nice to see some students in this country who actually still love America. I'm sure there are many more like them, and it's time they start pushing back. Some suddenly-famous frat brothers already have:

Hopefully these latest malcontents learned their lesson: Don't mess with Mississipi.
