As RedState’s Bonchie reported Monday, the far-left cable “news” network MSNBC is getting a name change as it it’s being spun off from NBCUniversal into a new venture called Versant. Pundits and social media users alike took notice and are less than impressed with the new moniker: MS NOW.

Snicker.

Surprise: MSNBC Has a New Name and Future, and Everyone Is Laughing

On Tuesday, the jokes continued to pour in as folks digested just how lame an effort this was. MS NOW—really, that’s the best the presumably highly-paid consultants came up with? And the graphic, which one commenter said looked like a 1990s “MS Paint” logo?

MS NOW apparently stands for "My Source News Opinion World," which is such an atrocious mouthful that it sounds like something that came out of the old Soviet Union.

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz had a more apt name for the hysterically progressive, race-obsessed network:

Columnist T. Beckett Adams seemed to imply that it should be called “Miss Now”:

It’s not just on social media where the outlet is getting hammered; cable executives are ridiculing the move too. Meanwhile, there could be internet issues that the company hadn’t quite thought through:

“I don’t know what’s worse, Versant or My Source News Opinion World. Whoever came up with these names deserves to be shown the door,” one former media executive told The Post.

The space between MS and NOW left many baffled, with one joking it stood for “Martin Scorsese ‘n’ Olivia Wilde.”

Attaining the MS NOW domain name may also prove tricky. A current website for  “msnow.com” is for something called “Motorized Snow vehicles (SnowMobile)” that features text written in Korean.

Meanwhile, typing “ms-now.com” into a browser redirects users to meal-delivery service Marley Spoon, which is affiliated with Martha Stewart.

Not too impressive. Conservative activist Robby Starbuck had thoughts:

The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway couldn’t quite believe it:

MSNBC hosts worked overtime, trying to sell us on the notion that they’re thrilled they’ve been shunned to the side by NBC News and that the name change is just hunky dory. "So I’m excited about this,” Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough said on his show on Monday. “It’s like, what’s in a name? Well, whatever you put into the name."

Well, if you keep putting out the same garbage that you've been doing, Joe, expect similar (poor) results.

Conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow opined to Variety:

"If there was ever a time for us to change our name, this is it — because we’re not just separating from NBC News in corporate terms, we’re competing with them now. So I think the distinction is going to be good for us," she said.

Sure, guys, we believe you. The truth is, you can call it MSNBC, MS NOW, MSDNC, whatever you’d like—they’ve still become a joke, and their tiresome extremism has led to disastrous ratings. Don’t expect a lame new name and an amateur-looking logo to change any of that.
