The “fresh faced” batch of new Democratic Congressional members are apparently in a running battle to see who can propose the most ridiculous legislative actions during this new term. The latest entry comes from recently elected Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D- Mass), who’s fresh off defending Rep. Ilhan Omar for yet more anti-Semitic remarks.

Per the Huffpost, who predictably thinks this is an idea worth entertaining…

“Across this nation, young people are leading the way ― from gun violence, to climate change, to the future of work ― they are organizing, mobilizing, and calling us to action,” Pressley said in a statement. “Our young people are at the forefront of some of the most existential crises facing our communities and our society at large.”

“I believe that those who will inherit the nation … should have a say in who represents them,” she added.

They continue…

Young people have often been at the front lines of major social change, such as during the civil rights movement. In the past couple years, youths have led significant activist efforts, from young Black Lives Matter organizers and students in Parkland, Florida, calling for gun reform to young people challenging lawmakers and even suing the government over climate change.

Put another way, they were used as pawns for largely failed activist efforts which did nothing productive and often relied on outright lies and smears to push leftwing policy goals. Accusing Sen. Marco Rubio of murder and insisting we ban guns, which would have no effect on the issue they were pushing, just screams “We should let these kids vote!” doesn’t it?

I’m not that old so I try not to generalize younger generations too often, although I enjoy a good joke about eating tide-pods as much as the next guy, but I remember when I was 16. To put it lightly, I was a moron and all 16 years are in some stage of being a moron. The biological realities of the development of the brain, our personalities, and ability to reason are what they are. 16 and 17 year olds are not uniquely affected by the world anymore than my four year old is. None of them should be voting in any election, much less federal elections.

While this proposal won’t approach the sheer girth of insanity that is “The Green New Deal,” it’s nearly as dumb and transparent of a political ploy by yet another freshman Congressional member. The only reason Democrats are pushing for this is because they want to lock in yet another voting bloc for their own gain. We’ve seen this brought up locally in Washington D.C. and Oregon already, so expect these schemes to continue to gain steam.
