This is pretty funny.
The Associated Press, like many outlets, apparently feels the need to exaggerate the man that is Beto O’Rourke. In reality, the guy is running for President simply out of boredom. He’s the first major candidate in U.S. history who’s seeking the White House just because he’s unemployed and has nothing better to do.
On Sunday, the AP reported on Beto’s El Paso kick-off rally in the most glowing of terms. One line caught some people off guard though.

Native Spanish, eh?
He may be the first 4th generation Irishman named Robert Francis O’Rourke to ever procure such a native tongue. I mean, the guy’s nickname is Beto, so that’s got to count for something.
The AP would eventually correct the report.
After the criticism, AP appended a correction to its story, reading: “In a story March 31 about a Beto O’Rourke campaign rally, The Associated Press reported erroneously that O’Rourke spoke to a rally in his native Spanish. O’Rourke is not a native Spanish speaker.”
Ted Cruz, having already become sole owner of Deadspin for his past Twitter zings, got in on the action though.
Impressive. AP reports Beto gave campaign speech in his “native” language. Wow — I’ve never heard a campaign rally in Gaelic. #AprilFools https://t.co/TVY0SqhxIP
