The Left Don't Actually Believe What They Are Selling About Climate Change

The realization of liberal hypocrisy when it comes to their constant doomsday pushing of global warming isn’t anything new. Still, there were three things that happened in the past week that perfectly illustrate a simple fact.

The left doesn’t actually believe what they are selling about “climate change.”

Time and again, we are presented with situations where some of the most outspoken proponents of minimalism and global warming hysteria could actually somewhat practice what they preach. Time and again, they chose not to, placing their own luxury and comfort above the planet they assure us needs saving.

Take the British “royals” for example, who are some of the most outspoken proponents of massive reduction in consumption to combat climate change.

According to The Daily Mail, Harry and Markle have been on four private jets in the last two weeks, resulting in a firestorm of criticism in the British press. Katie Nicholl, a close friend of the royal family’s, told Vanity Fair that Markle, who doesn’t read the tabloids, is aware of the controversy about her luxury travel but remains unconcerned about the attacks from the press.

“She’s moving on and riding above the storm,” Nicholl told the magazine. “She’s not wasting time or energy on the row over the private jets.”

Of course she’s not “wasting time” on it. It’s easy to ignore people pointing out your rampant hypocrisy when you don’t really believe what you’ve been saying anyway. For clarification, in just two of those private flights, Harry and Markle put out more carbon emissions than the average British citizen does in an entire calendar year. They managed to put out 100x more emissions than some Africans produce in the same time frame. All so they could avoid rubbing shoulders with the little people.

Their claims of security issues also turned out to be nonsense, as other members of the royal family were seen boarding a commercial flight this week.

I won’t just pick on the British though because there are plenty of Americans that are just as hypocritical.

Take the Obamas. The former president and his wife have long championed the idea that climate change is not just an existential threat, but the biggest threat we face as a nation. So what are they doing for their part in combating it? If you guessed buying a $15M mansion on an island in the Atlantic, congrats.

Barack and Michelle Obama are close to buying a massive Martha’s Vineyard estate.

TMZ reports that the former president and first lady are in escrow — aka in contract to purchase — a 29-acre beachfront plot with a 6,892-square-foot main house. The Obamas were initially just renting the seven-bedroom, 8½-bathroom spread for summer 2019, but apparently loved it so much that they made an offer.

It was most recently on the market asking $14.85 million, but the Obamas are apparently paying less.

Does that sound like the something you’d do if you actually thought the sea levels were rising and that U.S. coastlines will be devastated in the coming decades?

This is also ignoring the incredible hypocrisy surrounding Obama’s statements on being rich during his presidency. At one point he opined that there’s a “certain point you’ve made enough money.” Apparently being wealthy enough to buy 29 acre beachfront estate doesn’t quite put them at that point.

Stephen Miller (the other one) made a great point on Twitter yesterday about this.

Bernie Sanders also revealed his true colors this week. After ranting about how we must end all fossil fuel usage to stop global warming at a campus event, he was cornered by a question from a student. This was how the exchange went.

“So my question is you seem adamant about climate change,” said the student.

“Yeah,” agreed Sanders.

“So what ways would you take to practice what you preach if you were to become president?” the student asked.

“I know it’s stressful, and you have to travel a lot,” he added, “you have to use fossil fuels.”

“No, I’m not gonna walk to California,” Sanders joked to laughter from the audience.

If Sanders isn’t willing to curtail his fossil fuel usage, why should the average person, who emits at a far less rate, bear the brunt? Why should a British citizen living in an 800 square foot loft have to struggle even more while the royal family is jet setting all over the world? Why should an American curb their eating of meat while Barack Obama is using more emissions in a day on his lavish estate than most do in six months?

As I said to start this piece, none of these liberal elites actually believe what they are selling and it is why they are so comfortable with their hypocrisy. They don’t truly believe Miami is going to be underwater or that airliners are destroying the earth. The climate change movement is almost exclusively about power and always has been. Even to the extent that climate change is happening, it’s almost certainly uncorrectable at this point via human action given global dynamics. But elites telling people the end is nigh is an easy way to extract more money and influence from the populace.

If these people started actually living by the standards they promote, I might listen to them. Until then, enough of this scam.
