I have no idea why anyone within Chick-Fil-A’s corporate structure thought this was a good idea.

The restaurant, famous for its chicken sandwiches, has long presented itself as a family-oriented operation that supports Christian causes. In fact, that’s formed a major part of their growth, as many Americans respected the fact that they seemed to stand by their values. For years, Chick-Fil-A has given to a variety of great organizations, such as the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

That’s all about to change because they are bending the knee to the woke mob.

The U.S. fast food chain said that as it expands, it will no longer donate to the Salvation Army, the Paul Anderson Youth Home, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which opposes same-sex marriage. The company’s charity, the Chick-fil-A Foundation, has donated millions of dollars to the two organizations.

Chick-Fil-A was one of the few companies out there that had thus far refused to give up their principles to appease their business interests. Apparently, that sweet, sweet liberal money was singing its siren song a bit too loudly.

Of course, we know what’s going to happen now. The left are still going to despise the organization. They will still protest and lie about Chick-Fil-A, demanding none be built on college campuses and in blue cities across the country. This weak-kneed decision will do nothing to stop the onslaught they’ve faced in certain parts of the country.

Meanwhile, it will cause every Christian who’s stood behind Chick-Fil-A in the face of criticism to question why they ever bothered. It was those people that kept Chick-Fil-A’s sales growing even as the pressure of boycotts and media slandering mounted in years past. Now, that core support base is being brushed aside.

Perhaps the worst part about this is who it hurts. Organizations like the Salvation Army continue to represent the tip of the spear for helping the least among us in society. They clothe the homeless and feed the poor. Chick-Fil-A is essentially telling everyone in need to screw off because making sure the woke mob is happy is more important than making sure a downtrodden kid has food tonight. It’s a sad turn of events for a company that prided itself on not folding under pressure.

Maybe this will work for them as a business decision, and it’ll certainly help get more permits in liberal areas, but I think it’s short-sighted and ignores the very people who’ve made them what they are. We’ll see how that works out for them.
