As RedState reported, chaos erupted on Capitol Hill on Wednesday after Hunter Biden stormed out of a hearing on his alleged contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena.

The president's son was originally scheduled to appear for a closed-door deposition with the House Oversight Committee in early December. When he showed up, though, he held a brief news conference in which he tried to gaslight the nation on his transgressions before choosing to not enter the Capitol Building.

Republicans were justifiably incensed given private citizens don't have a right to ignore subpoenas, yet they did not move to immediately hold Hunter Biden in contempt, and almost a month later, the matter is still being debated.

That was the purpose of the explosive but short-lived hearing in which Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Nancy Mace questioned Hunter Biden. Unfortunately, the latter missed the mark, as good as her intentions may have been.

Accusations of "white privilege" are a liberal's domain. The charge makes up one of the core tenets of far-left ideology, namely the idea that privilege is dictated by systemic racism. To see a Republican parrot that line is jarring, and I would challenge the assertion.

Millions of white men have not gotten away with allegedly trafficking women, making corrupt business deals with foreign adversaries, and smoking crack incessantly. There is zero evidence to suggest that Hunter Biden's race has anything to do with the preferential treatment he's received throughout his life. So where does "white privilege" come in? Hunter Biden could be blue, and race would still have nothing to do with this situation.

What Hunter Biden has is political privilege. His father is the president. Before that, he was a powerful senator. Most importantly, though, Hunter Biden's father is a Democrat, and nothing provides more protection at the federal level than that.

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh expressed why Mace's slam was short-sighted and self-defeating.

That's really what it comes down to. You can never out-liberal a liberal, and when you give up their premises, they will use that against you in the future. The overused claim of "white privilege" being the cause of every injustice is toxic and largely untrue.

Hunter Biden is part of a corrupt family that has garnered favor from other corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. It's that simple. His being white has nothing to do with it. Republicans should be far more careful about what ground they are giving up, even if their goal is to "own the libs."
