Sunday Night Football on NBC is facing backlash after it became apparent they purposely edited out a mention of Jesus Christ by quarterback C.J. Stroud.

The mention came after the Houston Texans defeated the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, earning Stroud, who is a standout rookie, his first playoff victory in his first NFL season. When you watch the video put out by NBC, you'll notice an incredibly awkward cut at the beginning of the quarterback's answer.

Did they think people weren't going to ask what was cut off? Sure, enough, people went back to the live broadcast of the interview and it was Stroud's thanking of Jesus Christ that was completely cut out. 

NBC edited out Houston QB CJ Stroud's praise of Jesus Christ in their post-game interview posted to X.

REPORTER: What does this moment mean?

STROUD: First, I just want to give all the praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I mean, it's been amazing.

What kind of ridiculous anti-Christian bigotry prompts a network to cut out a mundane mention of Jesus Christ by an athlete? You can bet the producers would have never dreamed of slicing off a Muslim athlete's mention of their faith, but when it comes to interviewing a Christian, anything goes.

It's getting really, really old. There's nothing offensive about a religious person thanking God for bringing them through a situation, and it is incredibly disrespectful to Stroud to edit his comment in that way. It's denigrating and insulting. It frames Stroud's faith in Jesus as unworthy of coverage, and that's the best explanation. The worst explanation is that NBC's producers are such laughable cowards that they edited a mention of Jesus out lest some ridiculous snowflakes be offended by the mere mention of his name. 

Is this really where we are as a nation? Broadcast networks editing the answers of Christians to avoid putting their faith on display? I ask that rhetorically because it's exactly where we are at. Every single religion but Christianity is treated as sacrosanct and worthy of respect by the mainstream press. When it comes to the faith the nation was founded on, though, it's open season to demean it. It shouldn't be that way, but it is, and it's only going to get worse.
