During the student walkout that many schools took part in on Wednesday in honor of the 17 slain during the Parkland shooting, some students decided to make it about gun control. This was due in part to the fact that the march was organized by EMPOWER, which is a youth branch of the Women’s March, a radical leftist organization.
Students held signs denouncing gun ownership, and promoting restriction to guns and the rights pertaining to them.
One student in particular, however, wanted to make the case for being pro-gun.
While attending the student walkout at New Prague High School in New Prague, Minnesota, one student held up a sign that read “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”
This was apparently too far for the high school’s principle, who immediately told the student to hand the sign over.
Student Kenny McDonald said the principal escorted him off the premises, and reportedly threatened the student with being put into a police car:
Kids at our school today walked out, in honor of the 17 students killed in Florida. Students held signs that said, “Arm our teachers” they had two signs. A student walked out without saying a word peacefully put up his sign which said “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” he was escorted off the property by our principal and threatened to be put into a police car. This violates the first amendment and makes me sick that they can do whatever they want. Please make this go viral
The video did indeed go viral, and you can watch it yourself as well.

I would buy the line that it’s disrespectful to the students to hoist such a phrase during the moment, but while this was going on, signs that pegged Republicans, the NRA, and gun owners as the worst society has to offer were dominating the scenes. None of these students were asked to stop displaying their signs. Only this student.
Sad thing too. His was the only sign that really made much sense.
